Maybe if the cars picked aren't a ridiculous handful. It's one thing to enjoy learning a car and how to drive it. It's another when you're doing that surrounded by others in the same boat. So many incidents caused by lack of awareness.

Hmmm....lack of awareness....lets see now......entering Seat (turn 5 hairpin).......I'm being patient behind Jax, I'm turning into apex to get a good drive on him going up the short chute to next turn.....when suddenly this car dives in on the inside, locking wheels and takes us both off the track.......yup.....good awareness!

disclosure: no IR filed or name mentioned so I believe it's safe to post this.

Cards was on my ass early in that last race when I was on your ass :) I let him by so he could catch you and slow you down...which worked better than expected when you both had a small incident and I went between you both :) Then we lost Cards and you and I battled.

I braked so hard to try and avoid SGETI that my pedals actually flipped from under my feet and well.. crash. I really need a stand and mount them down.

I saw you and was so pissed at myself when that happened. I thought I had traction and went a bit further on the throttle and it understeered wide. I tried to get out of it but we bumped and these damn cars lock together. I'm really sorry about that.

First race with the Lotus was bad because that little thing is really a handfull but, after 5 or 6 minutes and 3 big mistakes, I learned how that car works and managed, if I'm not mistaken, a P2 on the second race.
You gotta try penguin, not just give up. I used to be like that on my old GT6 Snail days. Bad combos... just **** it! Then I realized, you wanna be good? Face the damn bull and go for it. That's how you conquer other racers respect.
Lessen invites you for dinner every tuesday and you bounce after a Martini when his kids are still setting the table! Not nice!

@JoeW thanks for a great race on that last one. I doubt I would have gotten around you if you didn't go wide. That was my most fun race of the night.

Its a shame all who started the night could not finish, wonder what happened?:guilty::odd:
Now I remember what happened after watching the replay. You were on my ass and I blew a corner out wide. I could have stayed on the gas and stayed in the lead because there was so much runoff there before the downhill bits. But I got off the gas and let you by because I knew it was the right thing to do. Without the runoff pavement there I would have been into a wall, sand or whatever and keeping an advantage there was not good sportsmanship.

Sorry for the no-show last night. Left the ball fields and went to the ER where my boy got five stitches in his knee. Didn't get home until around 9:30, and I wasn't going to hand Junior off to Mom and run down stairs to race half a night. Sounds like the Lotus was a fun challenge... Hope it survives the voting.

New combo vote soon ? I know Mike cant wait to vote of that BMW and keep the well handling Lotus.:P

Yes. I just walked in the door. My apologies to all. I had to go to work early and it slipped my mind. I'll have it posted here in a minute. The IR Form will be open in a second as well for any who need to take care of that too.

I loved that Lotus, it just doesn't like me. Whatever.

...... Schmiggz was being polite..... I won't. Why even bother to show up? Even I have reached the end of my patience with you. You want to race, but quit ALL THE TIME. Why??? Everytime you quit another nail gets hammered into your already brutal reputation as a Goomer, (Canadian version of a Gomer).

No, really, I liked the Lotus, stable, smooth, great brakes and tires and soooo predictable when loose. I just drove around waving to my fans from last place in the last race. BUT I DIDN'T QUIT.

Congrats to Aero for NOT QUITING after being taken out so dastardly.

I just can't seem to handle these old open wheelers. Maybe I'm to heavy on my wheel, compared to Aero, who is very smooth and gentle, I beat the crap see-sawing with a death grip on the wheel. I usually run a 1080 wheel rotation though which gives me a lot more wheel motion than 900.

BUT I DIDN'T QUIT.

Hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge, poke,

Edit: Man, lucky I'm buzzed, should have seen the first draft before Bob took my biatch away.

I like the Lotus too. I just didn't "race" very well at all last night. At moments it was good, then I'd do something stupid. Probably just not enough practice and not enough conservation. Sometimes I can get away with 45-60 minutes of practice, but I clearly needed to put more time into these. Too much to do, too little time to do it all.

The Lotus provided a few problems with easy solutions.

Locks too easy so, we brake early with a big punch on the pedal at the braking mark and slow release till turn in point where you gotta be on the throttle again VERY GENTLY!

Way too much torque so corner exit has to be gentle and on the higher gear possible.

In mid corner the car is surprisingly reliable and that acceleration, when under control, is absolutely amazing.

I struggled with proper line in that combo. One lap one thing would work but the next it might not. Clearly I was not driving it very consistently, even when alone. Tougher car without feedback maybe.

DRIVERS,

Votes have been tallied & points have been calculated. Here are your S11R1 results.

The Lotus Type 49 has been replaced by the Merceds-Benz AMG GT3. The Merc's first visit will be the beautiful Azure Circuit.

As a friendly reminder, lets all (including myelf) take a step back and practice a bit more patience on race night, especially the first lap. I think we are all well of our abilities and realize when and whom we should or should not be racing hard. Preparation & patience and will be VITAL for an enjoyable night this week. :) Although the laptimes warrent a 5 min qualifying session at Azure, the nature of the circuit in general has dictated the need for a 10 minute session.

With that said, one driver has driven his way off probation this past week. Nice work! 👍👍

One more thing I want to add real quick. As you'll see below, S11R1 saw 7 different drivers on the podium across 12 opportunities. This is a testament to the parity that Project CARS itself provides due to it's inherant properties. No reverse grids or gimicky race formats. Of course we have a couple aliens that rightfully deserve the points they aquire through domination, but this series always seems to enjoy VERY close points battles down through the field. Personally, I think that's great fun and I hope it encourages everybody to remain focused on the big picture on race nights. :)

How about the run down from the Casino to the Lowes hairpin? With someone on your ass or up someone's ass, that bit is hairy...
