Damn grammar, I'm confused. So you mean even if it's not suitable for this series, you will still play?

Yes. Even if it's not suitable I still want to try it out (as an individual, not as an organizer).

Bottom line. It must present the ability to operate a spec series or it would be of no use to me as a series director. There are plenty of SNAIL options for tuning series so no good reason to flood the market so to speak. I'd rather see PITS be successful.

If it's anything like the PC version I'm sure it will be a hit.

Funny, I have AC on my 'puter and I never play it. I will get the new one, well, just because. The SRM league is switching over to AC right away.

Josh, just too busy to get deeply involved in the game, plus I would be racing with strangers, same with pCars, I have it on my PC as well, but same issues.

Wakawakawaka, DP, my fine feathered waddling pile of poo, good question. Yes.
I use the triangle button to cycle my views. You can also tweak the field of view for each view, it's like racing on acid. You find that in the options part of the home PCars page.

The only problem I have with random racing in PCars is that the qualifying is always as long or longer than the race. It makes no sense. Should be 5 or 10 minute qualifying and 15-20 minute races. I set up rooms sometimes but no one joins.

I think the idea is that they set up a long qually which doubles as practice to become acclimated to the combo. It actually does make sense and provides better racing in random rooms that may change tracks/cars after each race.

As for the normal tuned GT3 leagues, everything is running perfectly well on PCars. The AOR leagues have been providing excellent competition at all levels.
I think the mistake lies in wanting to get from this game the same experience from Granturismo because they're definitely different and they were projected for different grooves.
Granturismo, for me, always had as it's core base the Japanese street racing groove with all it's Supras and Skylines, the tuning upgrades providing tons of horsepower. The drifting side of it is another proof of this theory. Then, of course, in order to make the game complete, they added some tracks and race cars in order to try to provide a full experience but it is undeniable that they're mojo is the street thing.
PCars is different, for the best or for the worst, depending on expectations, PCars is a 100% track racing with some street cars to complete the gig.
No drifts, no drags, no 200 Miatas and 100 S2000's none of that. Just pure GT3, LMP or Formula, all track minded all pure official track racing.
Maybe some of you are right and the future of this series lies exclusively on the next GT title because, for what I've been noticing, Assetto is way more towards the PCars thing than GT.

I see nothing fundamentally wrong with combining a purist racing title with a spec format. We've enjoyed some really fantastic racing here on Project Cars. As long as a game works properly and consistently it can be used to fit the SNAIL theorem. The ONLY major problem with Project Cars is that its default setup option does not work properly. I think the quantity and style of cars is moot compared to that. Same for tracks, graphics, sounds and immersion. For all the great things PCARS does properly, it fails massively in the area any organized league needs most. For that reason alone, GT6 is still better platform for online racing. If SMS were to buck up and fix the problems I wouldn't think that, but they gave up after they got their return. They basically gave the minority (spec racers) the finger and walked away. But that's just how I feel about it.

I partly agree you. I don't think SMS terminated the works on this game because of financial goals achieved but because they realized that better than keep fixing issues would be starting to build the sequel right away because the technological train doesn't stop and today you can include stuff that was impossible yesterday, plus the fact that is a relatively small company that needs all their staff focused on PCars 2.
From what I've been reading, number 2 will be great... From the start.

:) I know... I was just being facetious. 👍

But still.. and I know this is beating a dead horse... many people spent a lot of money on this title. $50 new plus $? for all the add-ons. We understand we're now in the age of constant improvement therefor we expect constant improvement. IMHO it is completely inexcusable to totally discontinue development of the current title to focus solely on the next works. That is REALLY bad corporate management.

Updating and fixing Pcars 1 would also buy them time and credibility for #2. I guess I shouldn't have expected more considering it's SMS. I wasted money on Shift and I think pcars might need the last money I give them.

That's the thing, Lessen... You wouldn't believe how small SMS is. They're staff list is about the same size as your registered drivers list.

I mean I get it, but it doesn't change anything. Whether a leader is CEO of a Fortune 500 company or CEO of 12, it's still a bad corporate strategy in my opinion. Gaming has changed from a product business to a product/service business and they are not keeping up with the transition. If a company doesn't have the manpower to do business like the big dogs, they should not be trying to do business like the big dogs. I think they've made the wrong sacrifice and are moving too fast for their britches; so to speak. :)

Probably means they contract all the real work. That would explain the lack of updates and the issues.

I like acid, wakawakawaka

Are there any two cars that are extremely similar in weight/HP? It would be cool to have a battle like that. Or any tracks short enough to have something like Mustang vs. Caterham where they can compete on the twisty bits and the straight's not long enough for the Mustang/more powerful car to easily get by?

I'll keep an eye out for this. I like Penguin's idea of two cars. I've found the Group 5 BMW 320 Turbo, and the Ford Zakspeed Capri produce fun, evenly balanced racing. Great car's that you can really run the RPMs up with. Spa and Imola are a couple well suited tracks. I'm sure there's many other tracks that would work.

I don't mean to hijack anyone else's ideas. I just wanted to show interest and make a suggestion. Hope to see ya'll soon.

How's about...

Battle of Germany?

Mercedes 190E vs. BMW E30
@
Hockenheim National

  • WRRC race specs with the addition of 1 mandatory pitstop and real time/weather sync
  • Twin qualifers to set the starting order and car assignments
  • Manual rolling starts

Ok, so here's what I'm thinking in more detail... Start off the event with two ten-minute qualifiers, one in each car. We will add the times of both sessions for each driver and use the combined times to set the field. Pole winner gets to choose his car with car assignments alternating down through the qualifying order.

Race 1: 12 laps (1 stop)
Race 2: Reverse grid. 20 laps (1 stop)
Race 3: Order of R2 results. 6 laps

Driver & Manufacturer championships to be had.

Who's in?
