There are so many things that still piss me off about PCARS that I will definitely get GT Sport. Just being able to go into a lobby and change from one car to another in the garage and change tracks without leaving is huge. Simplified settings...do we really need all the over complicated FFB settings, do we really need to be able to change bump stop, caster and trail settings? I just don't think I'm a hard core simulation guy.
I love the physics and sounds but take away half the settings crap and I'd be happy.
Will PCARS 2 solve all our problems? I doubt it. Will GT Sport solve all our problems? No.
Our problem is that if GT hadn't already spoiled us with its slick menus, smart interface and overall fun and easy to play style, then PCARS would seem perfect. But GT did so many things well that it's hard to forgive PCARS for not being just as good in those regards.
I must stop dwelling on this. Next time I fire up a car and drive, GT will be forgotten...for a short time anyway.
Well said Joe. It's funny how we just can't get the whole package. I want PCars physics and sound in the GT game. I also wanted more GT3 cars in Gran Turismo, and it seems they're going to be there now. I could also do away with any car that doesn't have a detailed interior -

- who do I sound like?
The way I look at it, this is the beginning for Project Cars. They focused on the driving experience rather than the game menus, photo mode, livery editor, etc. With the revenue from the first game and DLC, I think PCars can staff more game developers to work on the "other stuff". I think they put their priorities in the right place, and PCars is going to improve in it's user interface aspect in the next generation game.
I'm really anxious for Assetto because it's supposed to be the best "sim." I want to know what
difficult really is. So they're going to get my $60 too.
No matter what, we are going to get better games faster because there is now competition in the marketplace. The beauty of competition, and capitalism in general... the customer gets better products. (Pretty easy to figure out what my degree is in, huh?).
All of this is why I made the decision to invest in a new wheel, pedals, shifter, PS4, etc. I think there is a lot on the horizon. It's going to be a fun three to four years. By then, my son will be entering teenager territory, and who knows what my new hobby will be. But I've kinda committed to this for a while.
