Well there really aren't any democratic leagues that work.

Generally people can offer suggestions for improvement but it is up to the leader to implement or not.

The leader made the league, people join because they like his format, league gets popular...some offer improvement ideas. If there is truly a majority that are unhappy and the leader chooses not to change then the league will fail. But if most people are happy with it as is then it will continue to flourish.
Bottom line, that's how it is in fact but the way you place it publicly is where the trick lies.
In these days, overbossy lines upset people and make them go. We don't wanna loose anyone, do we?

I can see this situation going downhill fast, maybe let's all step back and calm down and think about it from others perspectives for a minute,I think everyone has some good points about what should or shouldn't be done to make things easier or better for the series and drivers, just a suggestion on my part,we could do something like NASCAR has done and form a drivers committee, just a thought

Don't give all the fast guys a bad rep lol. My crew chief mostly says things like: rubbin's racing, I don't think Snails would appreciate you eating an ice cream while on track, etc.

Days Of Thunder reference! Nice!

You of all people can appreciate his tone though right? Eventually you get tired of hearing how the idea you spawned, and grew and now is on the verge of multiple divisions, is somehow broken? The series works well...yes there are growing pains, all the good series have them...the bad series just die a slow death.

Do we all have a little idea here and there that we think would be fun to implement? Sure. But do all these ideas keep the same basic foundation of the series intact? Not always.

So let's just chill out. @Lessen knows what's up here. Having us right on the verge of 2 rooms is a tough pill come race night. If we had 20 drivers it would be perfect. But we have 15-17 drivers...which is so difficult to plan for.

Damn...and I quit this series a week ago ;) The last combos were serious fun though!

Wise words we can apply to lots of situations in life with good results, including this one.

The GT Sport thing looks fun. If they can only incorporate the physics and sounds of PCars I would be on board instantly.

Don't get me wrong...I'm buying it anyways...just cuz I've got GT in my blood since GT1 came out on PS1. But please do it right?
**** yeah... Do it right PLEEEEASE! I'm on the same boat Joe :) Since GT1 on PS1 and I still well remember the first time I played it and instantly fell in love... My brother in law showed up with a demo that was basically a Subaru Impreza and Route Stage 5 only. That was just enough for a fever that lasts until today, eheheh

Imo, there is nothing wrong with this series. Can improvements be made? Absolutely. I appreciate all the work that Lesson has done to make it happen. My issues come from the lac of enforcement on the rules set down from the start that seem to be ignored by the Big Cheeze.
Also, for me, the dictatorial attitude has to stop. I am not one to turn the other cheek to be smacked again. Put the ego on hold and talk with us, not down at us.

this is my last post on the subject of rules and waylaid egos. I want this league to succeed. I just hope lesson takes all the input to heart, listens to his subjects and we can all move on in harmony and grow this league........within the rules.

Thank you all for the kind words addressing how far the series has come. It doesn't happen without all you guys showing up every week, that's for sure.

I feel I've generally been quite concious about how I address circumstances, not to come off as being "high and mighty" all the time. Some may not agree, and that's ok that they do not. I also am not ignorant to the fact that sometimes people only see/read what they want to see/read even though I often to go well out of my way to paint a deeper picture. But, that's human nature. However, I'm not afraid to remind people of their place, because we all have one. I've always been very willing to hear suggestions and opinions ( @JoeW touched on this a bit more quite accurately), but if there is a circumstance where I feel somebody is taking advantage of those liberties I will not hesitate to clarify roles. Even the nicest boss has to be the "bad guy" every once in a while. That's life. That's just something everybody really should try to accept.

@Mike Lobban I don't think I really understand why you feel there are inconsistancies in rule enforcement. I've made several mentions of my stance on the recent issue of discussing incidents in the forum. To be truthful, the manner in which it was done has A LOT to do with the manner in which I responded. Please understand that. As far as racecraft goes, I've been 100% steadfast... I completely ignore any individual racecraft complaints that come to me outside of the IR system. It is stated in policy that complaints outside of the IR system may not be ackknowledged. I don't HAVE to ignore them, but I choose to because I want to promote using the IR process to serve its purpose, which is to assist the league in promoting clean racing. Remember, I spent HOURS once dropping the hammer on the entire field in an effort to showcase my expectations. I did that because I listen to you guys, but I can't do stuff like that all the time. I need the grid to play a part in elevating all of our skillsets. Obviously, I like you, want this series to be successful, but that means we all have to be cognisant of our positions and hopefully learn a little bit about it on the way. The more laps we run, the better we'll get I think.

Speaking about divisions... Time trial time?

Yes sir!

I did a bunch of testing a while back and have pretty much settled on a combo for it. (Hint: We've recently raced teh car and the track, but not together) The problem just lies in the structure of PCARS and PS4 with not being able to share replays. It boils down to a verification issue. The GT6 series has a perfect structure with the TT in the club lobby. I haven't figured out a way to do it here without being present. That might just have to be the way it is.

I might be able to help with this.

1 if someone sandbags or cuts corners you'll know on the first race night more than likely.

2 verification is simple by taking a picture of the screen or screenshoting it.

3 the hardest part is where you draw the line, and as more drivers enter and do their times that line may move.

#2 is the biggest problem. In order to have a truly fair system, variables need to be controlled. So... car setup has to be stock, lobby settings have to be spec'd. stuff like that. I guess the driver could submit video of the entire setup process along with laps?

With the Share function, sending a replay is immensely easy! Set up a youtube or twitch account (who doesn't have at least one of those these days), start a X minutes practice session, broadcast it along with room setup being shown, send the link to Series Director, take picture of ending screen to have proof of best lap, share that as well, done.
There is one extra step, but come on, is it really that much to ask? Series Director can trust the best lap or watch the whole thing if he so desires to see if there's any shenanigans at play.

I think it's not a lot to ask of someone to spend 3 minutes setting that up when that same person will be the beneficiary of hours of the organiser's time.

The same way we can talk like adults and discuss things without calling each other names, we can also do things that take extra time to do but benefit the whole group.

/old man rant over

Why not take the fastest lap times from a past race that you have replays for? They aren't tanking in the race.

Like the last race for instance. In GTRs video you can see on his screen the fastest laps set by everyone during the race at the end. Do saved replays show lap times of others?

A screenshot of the car in the pits will have the info of tuning prohibited on the left it has a little lock. Like it does when you return to pits by pressing pause.
But lobby spec no matter what will be impossible. Cause I don't think that Pcars has a running track clock.

Well I just caught up on the GT SPORT reveal live stream and I must say it's looking pretty good to me, still has the good old engine noises but it's looking like a solid game.

I don't know about everybody else, but I've noticed that screen data is wildly inconsistant. Sometimes at the end of a race I'm shown best laps, other times I'm shown time gaps.

Also, I was thinking just as much about new driver placement as well, not just our current lineup.

Well, like @FlipJ mentioned. If the driver had video of the ENTIRE setup process then everything could be verifiable I think, even time/date/weather etc.

Quoted for truth - In short, please submit all complaints via IR system, no matter how big or small your list is.

For myself, from now on when i see repeat offenders i will be submitting IR's for them. For the guys i dont see, you'll have a few freebee's because we ALL make mistakes, but lets not abuse it.
If you gain speed/time by abusing the OBB multiple times, then you'll be penalized for it.

@Lessen Just to get your input, from another racers perspective, whats your view on someone who might make 2-3 small OOB during a race. Would you, yourself file an IR?

Obviously everyone is different, and no one should feel like a "snitch/tattle-tale" for reporting even just 1 OOB. But its one of the ways we can improve the race craft of the league.

I don't know if it's relevant to the conversation, but I personally time trial much better than I race in traffic. If I were placed based on TT alone, I'm sure my success would be dismal on race night. But, that may be a personal problem and not pertinent to the process. Just throwing it out there.

Speaking solely as a driver, it depends. If it's minor, like a foot or two and it only happens once, then no, probably not. If it's a car width and I think I might have gained overlap if they had lifted, then yes. 2-3 most certainly no matter how minor as we're expected to be prepared and should know how to navigate come Tuesday. If it's behind me I'm likely to be more irritated because even if overlap is not obtained via the advantage, just being "within reach" puts me in a defensive situation where I'm forced to use a different line.

That's just me as a driver though.

Yeah, I don't think there's a perfect formula that's not too complicated. A standard deviation may be useful possibly. It would be kinda cool to see what we all would run and compare. Ideally it would be a TT with minimal controlled practice.

I think realistically our group covers about 3 speed ranges. Dividing us into 2 divisions will be tricky.

The rules are pretty clear about OOBs. If you go out, you must give a lift off the go pedal when established back on the track. Constant OOBs will result in a tar and feathering.

I must apologize to the group as a whole for my bitchyness over this OOB issue. As much as this needed to be addressed, I should have used the PM threads to get my point across.

Now.....lets get back to racing.

FYI guys, I have a SUPER busy weekend with family activities. I will be gone all day Saturday starting very early so I will not be able to post pretty voting and schedule pics. I will make a basic post early Saturday morning of the new car and first track. Both races will be completely clear skies starting at 12:00 hours.
