Welcome back Psycho

Hey Masterhec, it's great to have you back and with a chrome car no less. I'll get you added to the drivers list and send you the PSN FR. Welcome aboard, we look forward to racing with you.

So I decided to practice around N24 on the Impreza GT300. My best time was 9:29.

If I remember correctly from earlier posts in this thread, people who are participating in this is clocking in at around 9:00. That is half a minute faster per lap.

My question is: is there going to be different classes (beginner/intermediate/expert)? Are we all going around the ring at the same time? Should there be a point bracket for each category?

Whatever the answer is, I'll be there on the 6th, turtling along the ring while everyone else zooms by me on lap 9 or 10 ;-)

Eventually.

Happy snow day. :P

Don't worry about the lap times the other guys are running. Mistakes will be made. That's a guarantee... It's the ring. If your able to get some more practice in you'll get faster. Pick a time you can be consistent with and try to stick to that. On such a long track consistency pays off.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

as i mentioned in last year's thread, instead of having 4 divisions and 4 lobbies/races, 3 having 3 racers and 1 having 12, we should figure out the total number of racers and divide it up to get the most in each room. 21 racers = 11 in one room and 10 in the other (or close to it). dividing it up based on skill level may be difficult but i'm sure you could find some way to work things out. nobody wants to race with just a few others.

Do these 2 things

1) Slow in, fast out
2) Race the race, don't race the car

If you show up for practice on Wednesday we will explain further if you need.

Easier said than done :-) I think I'm more slow in, slow out (still better than fast in, damage out)

The point is don't trade 4mph going into a corner for 6mph down an entire straightaway.

I think what you mean is, try to keep up with the others, and adapt as the race progresses?

I will try to make it to the practice on Wednesday. Thanks for the heads-up!

Pit stops and crashes take a lot of time, so don't hot lap the car even if you have to do that to keep up with the faster drivers. You will fry your tires and either have to make extra pit stops or face the perils of racing with worn tires and you DO NOT want to face the perils of racing with worn tires at Nurburgring. On a long track like Nurburgring 24h that would mean trading 3 seconds a lap at the beginning of a stint for 10 seconds a lap at the end of a stint. An experienced driver will use technique not his tires to go fast.

The plan right now is to race in one lobby until it is busting at the seams. If or when we can no longer fit all the drivers in one lobby we will go to two lobbies that will be evenly divided based on skill level. That sounds a lot like what you said lightningd. lol

Did you ever get your steering to work, Psycho?

My kids wanted to race so I put GT6 on their PS3. After I did that the steering wouldn't work on the DS3 or DFGT. I got it working on the DS3 after reloading all the updates.

I bought the DFGT for my stepson 4 or 5 years ago and he never used it so I got it out and hooked it up. I think there is something wrong with it. I did a little research on line and it seems all too common for them to stop working in that time frame oddly enough whether they are being used or not.

I have a G27 which work great. In fact, I'll probably open a room pretty soon.

I found out this Subi flat out sticks to the road and is much more forgiving the the Merc that Mic and I used for the Nurb 4 hour race. I also found out that sneezing while taking a set of corners can really mess up a lap. I also found out that the V type course that we ran was ingrained in my mind, because I kept trying to keep going right after the first turn.

Despite that, and running my lap in complete darkness, my time practicing for that Nurb race really paid off (yes I know it isn't the same car, but practice is practice). Put down an 8:53.778. Can probably run a sub 8:50 if I don't sneeze and make other mistakes. :P
Set an 8:54.941 today. Ya better hope I don't find more time to practicce. :P

Man...it feels good to fire up gt6 again. December 6th needs to come here now! Let's get racing again!

Got down to an 8:50.143 in practice tonight with a slight mistake made. Oh so close to getting under 8:50 like I predicted I could run.

The 2 lapper race was fun. Especially with Mic trying to play mind games with me on the final long straight. I saw what you were up to. :mischievous:
