Race Recap

Wow, that was kind of a wild one. The Daytona Road Course has it's share of hazards which kept both races interesting. It looked like DolphDrago might be on his way to a 2nd overall win in 2 days. But, lightningdf22b1 was having none of that. lightningdf22b1 finished 2nd in Race 1 and 1st in Race 2 for the overall win. Congratulations lightningdf22b1! After getting the Pole and winning Race 1 DolphDrago touched the grass and ended his chance for a sweep with a 4th Place finish in Race 2. DolphDrago finished in 2nd Place overall. Psycho-Tuber (me) ran 2 solid consistent races for 3rd Place overall. chocochocochip5 had problems from the beginning of Race 1 to the end of Race 2, but still managed 4th Place overall. RacingOtaku86 continues to have good speed and is usually 1 mistake away from consistently contending for the podium. Two 5th Place finishes earned RacingOtaku86 5th Place overall. schmiggz had a very good hard fought Race 1, but technical issues kept him from finishing Race 2. schmiggz finished in 6th Place.

Thoughts

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

I still had a shot at the podium in race 2, but I :censored:ed up and cost you a possible 2nd place finish in the last turn. :guilty: You did make a nice save there, not spinning out, especially on old tires. :sly:

Race 19:
May 23, 2015 | Two - 45 Minute Races

Citroen C4 WRC '08 | Ford Focus RS WRC 07 '08 | Suzuki SX4 WRC '08

Round 1: Eiger Nordwand K Trail - Forward | 11 Laps

Round 2: Eiger Nordwand K Trail - Reverse | 11 Laps

DRIVERS MEETING

The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports

"It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free."

Rules

You are expected to follow The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports and adhere to the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules and exercise Good Racecraft at all times, especially in turn 1.

"Rubbin"

This is a non-contact sport. Let me put it another way, if you are "rubbin", you ain't racing in this league. We will not tolerate individual drivers taking the fun out of racing for everyone.

First Turn

You are not going to win the race on the 1st turn or the 1st lap. Therefore, it is the policy of this league for you to hold your position in turn 1. Holding your position in the first turn is limited to the first turn on the first lap. You must hold your position through the 1st turn and make no attempt to advance it unless the following situations occur: 1) The driver directly in front of you is asleep on the start. 2) The driver directly in front of you runs off course with at least 2 wheels off the track. 3) Obvious race incidents that must be avoided. Other drivers may draft past you before the approach (braking zone) to turn 1 if it can be done incident free. In other words, if you are able to fully draft past someone without incident or disruption to the other driver(s) with a reasonable distance before approaching the first turn you may.

This rule is in place for 2 reason: (1) to avoid incidents in the first turn, and (2) so that drivers doing their part to avoid incidents in the 1st turn of are not taken advantage of. There is no sense in causing an incident in the congestion of the first turn. Furthermore, it is inappropriate to take advantage of other drivers doing their part to keep turn 1 incident free. Once again, you may not attempt to pass once in the braking zone of the 1st turn of the 1st lap. If a complaint is filed, the decision we make will be one that promotes an incident free first turn.

Dive Bombing

Dive bombing is unacceptable
, and only results in accidents. It is not the same as passing under braking. Dive-bombing is when a trailing car intentionally brakes late to dive underneath the car in front of them as they are turning into a corner. The trailing driver must move to the low groove for at least 3-4 seconds prior to corner entry, so that the leading driver can see the trailing drivers intentions in his mirror. However, running the low groove is not a guarantee that he will allow you to pass, it is only an indication that you wish to pass him on the low side.

Procedures

Until everyone has accepted the TURTLE RACING LEAGUE "Community" invitation and we have more experience with the "Community" function we will run the races in an open lobby. Go to "Open Lobby" and check the "Friends Rooms Only" box and look for TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - FLEX RACING SERIES and enter. Races will begin at 10pm Eastern time.

Connection Issues

Please follow the procedures below to help minimize connection issues.
Step 1: Reboot your modem/router
Step 2: Reboot your PS3
Step 3: Clear your GT6 in game System Cache

Pit Stops

Drivers need to be very careful entering the race track when exiting the pit. Please look at your map to see if other drivers are near the pit exit. Drivers exiting the pit need to stay in the pit exit lane until the track is clear of cars on the track. Cars on the track have the right of way.

Quitting

Drivers are expected to finish races no matter what position they are in. Rage quitting is frowned upon! :grumpy:

Microphones

Although you are welcome to use microphones during the race, they should only be used to communicate your proximity to other drivers in order to avoid an incident. Otherwise, either mute them or make sure any background noise in non-existent.

Reminders

1: Hold your position and do not attempt advance in turn 1 of lap 1
2: If you go off track make sure the track is clear before you re-enter
3: If you cause an accident you must wait and give the position back
4: Watch for cars on the track coming out of the pit, stay to the inside
5: Keep Microphones muted during race unless advising your proximity
6: Drivers being lapped must let lapping drivers by without contesting

Race Incidents

Legitimate complaints are encouraged, they insure a better racing environment for everyone. Complaints should be addressed by "Private Message" to the race steward of the race in which the incident occurred. Please include race number, lap number, and time of incident. A ruling will be announced after a video review by an independent steward. All racing incidents or racing related issues shall be dealt with privately and under no circumstance mentioned publicly.

Race Clean and Have Fun!

I don't see if this event allows tuning or not. I will be there tonight. Not sure which car yet. Citroen most likely.

Doh. I always forget which one is which. I associate "FLEX" with flexible and the RUSH stuff lately has been no tuning.

Sorry I missed the races tonight. I was wiped out after work. I came home, ate, then fell asleep. When I woke up, it was already 11. How did it go this evening?

So, Otaku, once again dominant on dirt? We knew you still had it in you. 👍

I finished 2nd in both races. In Race 1 he was faster and more consistent than I was and finished well ahead of me. In Race 2 I actually had the fast lap and I raced well, but again he was too consistent. So, yes he was dominant again. Great racing RacingOtaku86! 👍

_5th Place: voodoovaj (0 Points)

Race Recap

RacingOtaku86 got the Pole and was gone, finishing 1st in both races in a dominate performance to take 1st Place overall. Psycho-Tuber was fast, but not consistent enough to seriously challenge RacingOtaku86. Two 2nd Place finishes earned Psycho-Tuber 2nd Place overall. lightningdf22b1 stayed close to Psycho-Tuber in Race 1, but Psycho-Tuber never made a serious enough mistake for ligtningdf22b1 to get by. lightningdf22b1 finished 3rd in Race 1 and 3rd Place overall. Xrad-11 was just a little off pace in Race 1 finishing in 4th Place and taking 4th Place overall. voodoovaj tried out the Suzuki 1 Race 1 and didn't like it, so he tried out the Citroen in Race 2 and didn't like it either. voodoovaj finished in 5th Place overall.

Thoughts

Rally races are different than asphalt races and therefore must be approached with both a different attitude and strategy. Staying close and pressuring the driver in front of you to make a mistake doesn't work very well when you can't see. Pushing harder and harder doesn't work either when pushing harder and harder means you drift more and more. To be successful with the given nature of Rally races in Gran Turismo you must do 3 things. 1) Practice and qualify well 2) Use a different strategy than "pressure to force a mistake" 3) Be patient and remember especially on dirt "slow is smooth, smooth is fast. With the right attitude and strategy Rally races can be very fun.

I like the rally races. I've never done the track in reverse, and it was pointless until I at least learn where i'm going. it's bad enough I can't see where i'm going on top of not knowing where i'm going, lol.

It's the exact opposite, where you turn left going forward you would turn right going in reverse. That seems simple enough.
