I don`t see the reason why people are already flaming about update 1.06 even though there is no further information about the content.
There is info about the content, that's why people are complaining.

Yes, there is information, but you haven`t got yet a full list or statement by PD if that`s all or if there is more in the update, so my thought is just waiting for the release of 1.06 and then let`s judge about the update and what it is worth.
Don`t get me wrong I see why people are complaining bout GT6, including me, but there is also a point of overdoing it if you complain about something we do not know by 100%.
I am not a blind fanboy of GT6 and see the problems, but I also do hope that PD will support GT6 with usefull and good updates as I am currently more annoyed about GT6 than satisfied cause of the bugs, not missing content, But I do not see a point moaning bout an update that has not yet been released, that`s all

I don't comment much but this is insulting. It's not even worth announcing. I'm not knocking the game but who exactly does this help ?
I don't think you understood what his post said.

PD said there will be an app that you download to your smartphone, which will have the ability to track your GPS (and possibly elevation), which you can then put onto the game and share with your friends. Consequently, you can drive an X1 on your way to work, in essence.

Which, not only is innovative, but also is one of (if not the) most wanted feature by everyone who plays GT.

So, getting back to this Toyota data logger, the only thing I can think of that would be fun to do with this is create some new special events where the actual driver you are chasing is a professional driver recording a lap with one of these things. Would be interesting to see what lines they take, braking points, etc.

It wasn't said anywhere or by anyone that we're getting the track creator with 1.06.

1.06 might only contain the GPS Data Visualiser and some minor fixes. If the GPS track creator was to be introduced with 1.06, I'm more than sure PD would announce it; it's too big a feature to come as a surprise in my opinion.

I know but i originally thought that the GPS Data Visualizer and Track Creator would come into the game together not separate. Like as an option on your phone that after the GPS data was collected you could either "A). Save as Ghost" or "B). Save as new Track"

Or something like that. That's what i originally thought might happen, but it isn't, so i was wrong their.

You think we could share our data GPS Visualiser/Data Logger ?

Because it could be really interesting

Not sure if that will be possible in 1.06 but I think in a later stage (maybe not even GT6) this will be possible.

There are 10 infraction points up for the next pointless, off-topic, troll, meme, gif, or otherwise annoying post in this thread. First come first served.

I'm wondering if we can use the data logger in modes other than Time Trial. Maybe we can use them in a race with the AI and see how they drive.

Zlork, Its possible, all people would need is a valid file in a usb drive... Probably it will come with at least 1 replay.

Indeed it would be very interesting to see how little driving a leading robot does on the last lap. Can anyone remember when you could use the data logger in GT5? I hardly ever bothered using it.

There is still no mention on the North American site that we will be getting any update. I know that Famine said yesterday that the website gets updated at a different time than the Japanese site but, shouldn't there be some mention of this update there by now?

They only made a press release because of a device Toyota are promoting in Japan, otherwise we wouldn't have heard about the update at all yet.

All this speculation and hopeful wishing about what this feature may or may not do but I have one question. Where does it even say you can race these generated ghosts?

Data Logger
This feature allows you to analyse your saved replay data to show Speed, Engine RPM, Throttle Input, Gear Position, Steering Angle, etc. in a graphical format. This feature will be added in a future update.

GPS Visualiser
In a future update, we will add the GPS Visualiser. This is a feature that allows you to import Controller Area Network (CAN), used to regulate automobile systems, and GPS coordinate data from a real life car into Gran Turismo 6, and visualise the data as a replay in the game. The feature is planned to be compatible with the Toyota Motor Corporation’s CAN-Gateway ECU.

All that talks about is analysing and viewing replay data. Nothing about racing ghosts, even. Some people seem to be getting wild with their ideas of what this can do.

We will find out pretty soon since the update is next week. I would just like to believe that it won't be the only thing in the update. But I bet I'm wrong. It's PD.

I hope it will have other things as well but I was just referring to those in the last few pages who have gone crazy speculating what we'll be able to do with the one thing we do know is in the update. Even the news article says this:

This will allow GT gamers to race ghosts of laps set in the real world, opening up a world of real vs. simulation race possibilities.

..and I don't see anywhere that is implied to be possible.

Ghosts are replay data. It doesn't imply anything that isn't possible.

But where does it specifically say the replay data generated can be loaded as a ghost? It probably can be, but I've not seen anything from PD saying so. For all we know you could just load the data, watch it and that's it. It says "Visualise the data as a replay", it doesn't mention racing ghosts from that replay.

They don't need to publicise what is rather obvious. A lap will be read as replay data so it's assumed without needing to be confirmed that it will be loaded in GT6 as replay data the same way any other replay data is loaded.

The GPS Visualiser part is an option from the main menu and replays can be imported from within there.

See Whistle Snap's post about it:

Perhaps I am wrong but I was thinking that the datalogger was the tool that was in GT4 and GT5 where you could save a ghost and then view the data logged during that run and even compare two ghost runs together.

Seems most of the posts in this thread think it is tied to the GPS Visualizer only. If that is correct then it would be very disappointing but I suspect that it will work with all ghost laps like it did in previous versions and thus be useful in tuning and comparing laps for cars driven in GT, any and all of them not just those real cars with the GPS tools installed.

We can save replay ( our own, or from other sources like TT leaderboard, other drivers shared replays and highly possible from GPS Visualizer too ) and used that as a ghost when we do test drive and time trial, it's been like that since GT5 :) The option is there when on track 👍

For all who speculate that in 1.06 or an update after that community features will appear : this might be linked to that. Please take this as " for your information" only, because it's off-topic ... thanks:tup:
