1/4 Drag: The Car Classes

I wonder why no one ever uses this track then?

I see it used for drags, but not nearly as popular as TG or Indy. If you’re online it’s a quick about turn out the pits and stick left to the hard shoulder :) Offline it’s just the last turn and the drive to the start line. You can easily get 5 cars and it’s the same surface for all… I guess Indy feels a little more like a proper drag strip because of the markings though.

I just tried Indy with the ACR and Challenger (RMed) and I’m getting averages of 8.3 and 9.4. Tyres just off the markings and pausing as the nose hits the shadow.

Categories seem a little wrong here, McLaren F1 and TVR Cerbera Speed 12 if well tuned and setup right will live and beat the veyron and certainly beat most of cat 2 hands down every time.

I'd like to see an F1 beat a Veyron at a drag race - hard to believe it's possible.
I'd be happy it it's possible though. Do you have an F1 setup I could try to do this with?

Tune the F1 to your liking then tune the Veyron to 75% power :D

No they aren't!

Performance-wise, yes they are all exactly the same.

The person you quoted has no intelligence about drag racing at all. When people that actually knew something came in he disappeared. As for the F1 vs Bugatti, I imagine a fully tuned McLaren might keep up pace with a Veyron.

@DaLightnin

Also with the SLS McLaren, maybe class 3 would suit it better.

You still haven't added SL600 to Class 2.
Test it and see for yourself - that car belongs there.

If people start posting times of their cars we could get a better idea. I know I have a car or two that might make it into a higher or lower class, but it might be a really good or really bad tune and isn’t the norm. I will have some time tonight and time the first 3 classes at Indy… maybe muscle too :D

It's either an SLS AMG, or SLR McLaren. You can't have both in one

Also, I am amazed the CT230R is not in any of these classes yet.

Whoops, my bad. I've been driving the AMG a lot, so I got them confused =P

Some times I've gotten (At Indy):

BTW, some of these cars I haven't really messed much with so if it's slow or a bad tune, don't be afraid to let me know. Some of these could really use a tune.

Have it and upgraded it. Only 600hp?

Alright cool. When I get around to getting some more times up later, I'd be cool if you could add those too. Right now I'm busy typing an article for the GT Life Magazine =P

New ones:

Dodge Ram 1500: 9.7s @ 136mph
Jaguar XJ13: 9.5s @ 143mph

The R230 version(the Modern one I think:dunce:) Makes Around 1026hp! but is seen more on SSR7.

9.3 - Mercedes SL 65 AMG(R230) (NOT TESTED)
8.8 - Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce (Trap 152mph, Good Launch)

8.8 - Mercedes SL 600 (R230) '04
8.8 - Mercedes SLR McLaren '09

That took a while :D

Cars marked with the asterisk aren’t run in although fully upgraded and some of the cars (especially class 3) only have basic drag tuning and aren’t fully felted ;) I must also admit to not getting as big a gain (over stock) from tuning 4x4 as FR/MR cars.

I have added the merc’s but I’m not a big fan… only 5 gears and relatively heavy. We would need more times to be sure, but I would suggest the SL 65 at 9.3 sec doesn’t even make class 3 although the SL 600 and SLR would make it.

EDIT: picked wrong Escudo (retested) :dunce:

Busy perfecting the tune on some of the cars. Will upload a big batch tomorrow :)

Keep in mind it’s not a competition ;) we need to take the average from as many people as possible :)

Also, I am amazed the CT230R is not in any of these classes yet.

Have tuned/tested this (various box setups) and it's only doing 9.2... maybe class 4? Is there a special tune?

lol I know, its just that I have lots of the cars you recommended but never bothered to tune them... which takes a while :banghead:

 Tell me about it… had to tune half of class 3 :D

@ slashfan7964

I must be doing something wrong or you’re doing something right. Just noticed your McLaren F1 time… it’s a match for your Viper ACR and beats your Enzo and GTR etc. Crazy tune?

lol McLaren should NOT beat an Enzo under any circumstances, if they're both tuned...

I've got new cars to test, some that haven't been ever used before. I'll have times and speeds at some point tomorrow.

New Cars:

Added other stuff. How is the color coding. Should I keep it? Change it?

Needs work but yes keep it. Also, put next to the ACR that 166mph is possible with an aftermarket wing please.

I know it was probably said before, the Mclaren F1 is in the wrong category. I was getting walked by one last night in my tuned GTR SpecV. I could keep up with him up until about 100mph, then he'd just walk on by every time.

If it's tuned, you should walk him every time. What was he guy with the f1's psn?
