1/64 Model Collectors Thread

No offense guys, but if its taking me one full year, almost one and a half, to find a shelf/cabinet for my 1:24 cars, its probably going to be tougher to find a coffee table for 1:64 cars.

On another note, I have pictures to take, so that begins now.

I've got a question. How does one tell a zamac from just a grey car if both are loose or in a multi-pack?

A zamac car is one that is unpainted. That's the bare metal itself. You can tell bare metal apart from similarly coloured paint by the surface texture, surface imperfections, other bits of metal infused in the casting (since zamak, what these cars are made from, is an alloy). Paint is just... paint. I look at paint so much I don't even know how to describe it.

That said, as long as you can see the thing up close, you should be able to identify it regardless if its loose or not.

Well..some interesting news. Turns out my brother will be traveling to Vietnam with my uncle to visit the rest of our family. As some of you know, Tomicas are made there. And luckily enough, they sell them there. (Although I have my doubts about TLV's)

Helpful zamac info

Well, I picked this up in a Wal-Mart 3-pack, but I can't quite tell. There seems to be done pitting and slight imperfections. But it has the Corvette symbol on the hood.

They are spendy, but if you can find the right combination(I've purchased three so far), they are worth it. If you can't justify the purchase right now, I wouldn't sweat it. They've been really popular for a year or two(afaik), and I don't see M2 discontinuing them any time soon.

I would take a knife to it. See if you can scrape off the paint......

I don't remember where I read that it is possible to get zamac in multi-packs. Maybe the author of the post was high on paint thinner, but I took the post at face value. Also glad that order form works for you, a6m5.

EDIT: I took a knife to it and no paint came off. At least none that I saw. Hmmmm.

Tipoff by Jason. 2014 Colour Shifters Fish'd & Chip'd. It's yellow when its warm. Simple trick to colour change without rusting up the axles via splashing water: stick em in your armpit, 3 seconds. 5.5 seconds tops. Any longer and it's gonna melt. Parent supervision may be required.

James Bond DB5 released on RLC today. I've been striking out on everything in general last couple of days, and today was no different. My work take me away from my work area to the area with no wifi, so I missed out on the DB5. I snuck out around 10am, got on the shop site & it said "available" & that got my hopes up, but it was sold out. Tomorrow is "The Homer", I forget which car came on Thursday, but I couldn't care less. Losing streak continues.
