It's a limited release, but not a chase. Just checked my box, also says 5,000. In fact I think the only gold chase in that particular set was the Dodge Coronet limited to 3,000.

Okay then. Good to know. My mistake. Still, limited releases are cool.

I haven't noticed the makings all that often. But then again, I hadn't really been looking for them. I did fall in love with M2 after getting the Bus though. Great detail.

Yes, not bad when you can find one that doesn't have quality issues. Which is usually half the box at least when they get new stuff.

What kind of quality issues? I want to know what to look for in the future.

Tires coming off or improperly installed, bent wheels, cracked windows, finger prints, glue residue, whitewall and center cap tampos on the wheels/tires not properly aligned, door casting issues, doors/hoods that won't close, etc, etc.

Edit: New Megane coming in the Road Trippin' series.

On the M2s, yeah, lot of their releases are limited to 5,000, or something similar. This doesn't include all the variants from the same casting, but I still think that's pretty limited, even if not chase.

I'm a big fan of M2s, but assembly is indeed spotty with them. I always try to look at them closely before spending $3~$6 or whatever on these cars. @Ken Koios Have you seen their Haulers? They are just the best!
I'm going to assume the answer to my next question concerning the El Camino is, no. Killer colour on the Gran Torino though, shiny.
Shiny's good. :P

I've seen the haulers. I quite like them. Just haven't had $20 to spend on one thing in awhile. Soon, I'll be getting a few.

I had noticed the door on the Daytona doesn't close exactly right. I'll have to pay closer attention from on.

The problem with the door, usually the RH door, is that plastic peg they prop it open with. For some reason it ruins the door travel and it won't close properly. I really don't understand why they do that in the first place.

This one came with the door peg thing and it's the RH that is off alignment. I don't think I understand their reasoning either.

Has anyone ever thought about just getting rid of their whole collection?

I find myself feeling that way more and more...
Yes, because for me, they take up too much room. Only other thing I ever collected were basketball cards, but they were nice & compact. I do plan on liquidating the lamer part of my collection down the line. Thank god I don't collect 1/18's all I can say.

Hey guys, I'm currently in London near a big tower with a clock on it that makes strange noises. :lol:Anybody know a place to find some HW or 1:43 scale cars?

That's the thing, I find my interest in collecting and buying my own ones fading at a rapid rate....

Well then. I'd say store them away. See if in a few months you miss them or not. If you don't, you might want to consider selling. That's my advice.

Tempted to just throw them out how I'm feeling at the moment

I wouldn't. What happens if you do and three months down the line, you get the itch again? You'd be kicking your own butt. I'd store them and give it some time.

I used to collect rather heavily as a kid but lost interest over the years.
I never got into collecting until about three years ago, my then toddler nephew pulled me in(OK, I pulled myself in). What a horrible influence he's been. I rather buy guns & ammo, you know this.

Oh I know that feel

I started as a kid. I used to get those cheap ones with the plastic bottoms as a kid. First love of any car was for the first gen Camaros, followed by second gens, Vipers, then Mustangs. :D

But I stopped collecting a few years ago and they sit and collect dust. Not sure what ones I wanna get rid of yet but some are worn out, probably not worth much. I'd like to get a little something for them to put towards me IRL Mustang fund though.

Best thing to do is to get on eBay, do a search for the cars you have. Once the search results are displayed, click on the 'sold listings' box on the left hand side. You'll then see the going rate for the items, but I gotta warn you, they are rarely worth much. Especially if they have play wear.

The toy shop near me had heaps of new ones I've never seen before yesterday. Heaps of the ae86's in that awful red/greddy paint, that bread box thing, some massive truck with white tyres and graffiti on it, mig rig, the scion, silver viper, black 240z but not really any interesting jdm's or anything lowrider style.

Just knowing I don't have anything rare, just what I consider cool, makes me feel like what's the 🤬 point...
You're not alone in that respect. I don't really have anything rare myself, just a few that are rare-ish.

As for getting rid of collections, mine is getting less (donated 50 of them to the Salvation Army, this year). I haven't done a proper count of my collection lately but i'm guessing it stands at about 250-300, but what i'd really like to do is eventually get it down to about 100-200, of ones that i find cool (not necessarily rare). Either that or just have a collection of customised cars, but with the amount of time it takes me to do a custom, it'll probably take me till the year 2115 to reach my 100 car collection goal.
