Prices gone up, haven't they?

Sadly, yes.

Here's the Panamera I bought a while ago:

And yeah that Australian Racer is going to be stellarific.

Indeed. Posted this before a while ago but here's the Speedhunters article on the Crown that participated in the Australian rally again. Cool story. 👍
First thing I planned to open was the 205. Have had two for too long now.

I might be a little weird but personally I don't find that 205 ugly at all. Not many cars could pull off that colour scheme but the 205 does it pretty well.
Edit: Anyone interested in a Chevy Volt? :P

Yeah, no.

Do we know what could possibly be coming out of that hood? is it a flux capacitor? a super'charger?' haha i gotta pick this up just for kicks

edit: wow guess i don't know how to quote properly, of course this is regarding the Volt

Whoosier Rule applies. :D

The truth is, as Cano mentioned, that it's an elusive car to find, though no doubt an internet search and a healthy wallet could solve that problem. That is one of the 'collectible' qualities of some of the things we collect - elusiveness. Or to put it another way - hard to acquire.
A friend of mine has a piece of the Berlin Wall on his wall, (a chunk of cheap concrete, spray paint and partial graffiti) - it intrigues me every time I walk into his office. I would love to have it myself - it's the 'collectibility' of it.
Its history, the deaths it would have witnessed, the joy that soaked it upon being destroyed, and so on - and the rarity of the piece, not only as a piece of that historic wall, but as a piece from the particular location on the wall - is what makes it a collectible. Not the quality of its construction.

As for the color scheme of the 205, it is unique and typically HW diecast in its way, which made it a popular 'bright' toy for toddlers. Serious collectors may have even ignored it because of its (think Daffy duck) totally despicable nature.
In this way thousands of these were lost, misplaced and thrown away.
Very few collectors would have one in a mint card.
To have one mint-carded and another loose would make most collectors happy.
Real HW collectors, that is. :)
Others not so much; as a display model it lacks in many departments.

@Gotbeefboy564 - nice pickups, man! 👍

Total of the haul was $18.00 and some change. They had a lot more there but I didn't get anymore cause I didn't have enough money. Each car there is $2.00.

I bought one of those mail-in Custom '56 Ford Truck, but man, this is as bad as I've seen a Hot Wheel come out of a straight card:

The damage is all on the front end. What a bummer. I can't believe it. I was glad I got it cheap($14, shipped), but still, had I known that it was this badly damaged, I wouldn't have bought one.
I want to punch you to unciousness so I can spend your money better than you do.
That's like, matter of opinion, dude.
Nice post. Insightful. 👍
I'm about to drive to L.A and pick up my Japan Booster package myself.

This is ridiculous.
Be patient, grasshopper......
Anyway, got the Fox Body I ordered today. Stock image because I am too lazy to take a pic.
Those headlight decals..... Ugh. It's a great casting otherwise.

Tell you, I'm starting to wish that I ordered a gold Delta now too. Digging it in that colour. And sucks big time about the damage to the Ford truck, looks awesome otherwise. 👍

That's probably the harder one to find of the 2 or 3 variations. Also, don't pay attention to STD values, they are out of date. Use sold listings on eBay.

Um so this civic that I got for $2 is listed on southtexasdiecast for $4 carded.View attachment 286814
Should I still open it?

Someone who doesn't search hard enough will pay you $4 for one. I have seen it go for less with no audience. I got mine online at a regular listing price. That seller wasn't even aware of the variation. :)

I'd keep it carded for carded's sake.

@R1600Turbo - I didn't have the time to pick it up today, but TLV that was shipped from Hong Kong on December 31st is already here ready for pick up. That is one week & one day, including the New Year Holiday. The Japanese do their job getting the packages to L.A. in timely fashion. From there, Customs & USPS seems to take turn sitting on it. Also, I know I've mentioned it numerous times before, but the Chinese shipment goes thru Customs in San Francisco & they are much faster. I don't know if that means that if the terrorists want to smuggle in a tactical nuke, they should go thru San Francisco, but for harmless toy cars, San Fran rocks.

It is a bummer. Gold Delta do look nicer than I thought. I still much prefer the white(w/wood on the side) & red vans coming up next though. Of course, John will tell you to collect 'em all.
Wow. Flat trailer w/Super Silhouette Skyline. Wow. 👍

Handy tip...

Maybe it's that place holder image but I'm not too big on the red one myself. White and the black wagon version that's released next month are both going to be so sweet. Can't wait for those two.
