I'm starting look around a bit now, thanks to Cano's guide & other member's inputs. Before, yeah, I just looked for 510's, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future DeLorean, etc. All regular cars, if you can call them that.

ok since flipshare is being stupid
I got M-power-FTW's gift or package recently and got two T-hunts
before I get up pics, guess which Treasure hunts I got:dunce:

Haven't bought one in awhile, but got 3 on a way home tonight!

I've been looking for the Ducati, since I passed on it month or two ago. The Caddy & the Chevy Van thing is hilarious. I didn't realize this until I just got ready to post it: These two vehicles are the couple of Matchbox counterparts to one I hunted, hunted, hunted on the Hot Wheels line, the Ghostbusters & the A-Team.

Edit: Ducati's rear wheel is really wobbly. Is this normal?

Man those new Matchbox paintjobs are atrocious. They look like kiddie-aimed HW series. I hope we won't be seeing the demise of MB's third greatest moment in it's history.

Yeah, it's too bad, because I love the casting. Caddy might be harder to pull off as, it's too easy to make it too boring, or too busy or yucky. Chevy on the other hand, they could have gone with some throwback delivery van scheme, sport/conversion van, etc. I still find them cool, but disappointed at the same time.

Edit: For example, something along this line.

Looks like a Split Vision but it is'nt, probably a creature in another livery - remember the 'bug' cars? Obviously not a RL car. I saw it on a rack but passed it by: they've released a lot of the bugs in new livery, but not as bugs but as fantasy vehicles. I did get a few, though not too much into the fantasy cars.

I have the Scirocco in yellow - it has a large blue VW logo on the roof.

Haven't been in here for weeks, but I see Cano has survived his adventure trip and the rest of you packrats have been extremely busy looting and pillaging the stores, lol, well I have to bring in some goodies of my own, too, so will be back soon with results of the customary photoshoot. . . .

Hope you guys are having a wonderful holiday - taking that much deserved break from school or work. And a very Happy New Year of treasure hunting to all my HW buddies.

SVX - special thank you to you, and have a really good one, buddy - you jumped that hill!

Umm that package is stapled shut. That was probably done at the store you bought it at, so it's not very special. Unless you did it?

Yeah, I knew the car was removed by someone and someone replaced it with that car and stapled it. Still, it's fun to see it coincidentally both cars are green in colour

Hopefully nobody made a mistake and buy that lemon :P

EDIT: And it fits nicely too!

Thanks mate  You have a good one too.

By 'jumped that hill' do you mean creating the thread? Or something else?

I finally saw & picked up an A-Team Van, actually in the store. Very glad, as I got to take the one I picked up off eBay earlier, out of packaging. Van looks much nicer out of the pack. :D

I need to start cutting down my Hot Wheel purchases. I'm now starting to pick up models for just getting my attention. Low price doesn't help. Talk about impulse buy.

That red 70 Camaro has a Super TH version.

I'll be waiting for your Treasure Hunts Buyer's Guide. :P --- I just went back to page 176, R1600 posted a picture of that one. At the store, I just looked for the Super Bee & Chevelle. The only two I actually remembered that they had the Treasure Hunt version.

Still relatively cheap for what they are, I still don't like the fact that they have gone up in price 10 cents in the last year. Seems the price keeps going up and the quality keeps going down. Hard to get anything with a metal base anymore unless you buy a special edition pack for $5. And I refuse to purchase the special themed cars (Holidays, Birthday, etc) because they're nothing but a regular hotwheels on a themed blister pack for $3.

This is probably 1 of the best threads EVER!, just looking at some of the collections has brought back so many memories of my childhood, not only do i admire the collections but also the custom work you guys do to these things... i only wish i had the time, skill and patience to be able to do what you guys do.

I recognise many cars that i used to have in my collection, that unfortunately i no longer have.. (gave a lot of them away quite a while back), i have started a new collection though over the past few years, my collection is really nothing special.. mainly newer Hotwheels/Matchbox, i think the oldest car i have in my current collection is my one and only Majorette, it's a yellowy orange Lancia Monte-Carlo Beta.. (will try and get pics... at the moment though, they're buried in the attic), i suppose the only rare example Hotwheels i have are dated from about 2001 onwards (and in no great number but in great condition), my favourite 1 of my collection though, is the Lupin the Third 3 Hotwheels/Charawheels set... i'd really like to open it to see the detail of the Fiat 500 with opening engine compartment... but can't bring myself to do so.

I think the oldest cars i had in my previous collection were the old Lesney/Matchbox, red & white tow truck, (i think Cano has a similar 1, but the only difference was that mine had the skinny old school wheels on it), and the other oldest 1 in my previous collection was again a Lesney/Matchbox (with the same skinny wheels) Merry-weather (or fair weather... i do forget) red fire engine.

Anyway i was hoping to pick some brains here.. what it is, is that i remember having a 1/64 diecast Porsche 928 widebody (must have been from around the mid 80's) and i can't for the life of me remember what make it was... what i can tell you about it, was that it either had Majorette 3 spoke wheels or 4 spoke design that looked very similar style to that of the Majorette 3 spoke... the cast itself was metallic silver in colour and the base was black plastic, the passenger/driver windows were open, whilst the windscreen/rear and b-pillar windows along with the headlights were a blue transparent plastic.....

Basically, i've searched the net to try and find pics of the unknown diecast (i remember cherishing it when i was younger... but lost it later in life), so i was kind of hoping some of you guys could help me identify what make it was... although the casting, to me seems really good, i've got the sneaking suspicion it may have been of Chinese origin, anyway, i've posted a quick pic i did of it yesterday from the best my memory can remember.... i'm sure the tampo/graphics were'nt exactly the same as what i've done in my sketch, but you get the general idea, so please if anybody can help me with this.. i would appreciate it a great deal.

(EDIT)
Well, i gave it another shot and have finally found out what make it is... after finding the correct body shape and tampo/graphics (which i got wrong BTW :D), by doing a pic search, i found 2 Polistil cars but of larger scale.. 1/24 & 1/40 but strangely, both were missing the blue headlights and the 1/40 scale was missing the rear wing, which again i found very strange, also the wheels were different.
Anyway after a further search of Polistil, i've managed to find the exact model that i remember from my childhood... all that i need to do is somehow find 1 for sale... i've only managed to find 1 on a japanese site (don't know whether it's for sale), and 1 that existed on e-bay (but is no longer for sale).

I don't know whether anybody is interested but here are a couple of pics (PS, the pics are'nt mine) oh, and also i got the scale wrong... the 1 i had was infact 1/55 scale.

Welcome to the thread, bud. And giving away ANY old toys is something you never, ever EVER do. A pity there. I also have the Majorette Lancia somewhere, but mine is really worn up. Slated for restoration, though.

Also, I don't know in which part of the world you are, but 1:64 Polistil cars are wicked-rare if you are not near Italy. I myself only of a couple of guys here in Mexico (where, btw, Polistil licensed McGregor to fabricate and sell made-in-Mexico versions of Polistil diecast) who have one or two. Your car is now extremely rare.

haha, what took you so long? Yeah, I know, I could not believe my luck either. And to think I haven't found any Tomicas since that day, at least not in flea markets. I grabbed a couple at the Mexico HW convention, but those didin't cost $1, lol.

And you better post some pics of your new gifts, or I'll internet-spit you!

I tend to agree on the Christmas-type cars. On the regular cars, yeah, it has gone up by about 10 cents by my observation, too. $1 or $1.10, I find it hard to argue the value of Hot Wheels & Matchbox cars, however. 10% is a steep price-hike for just about any product, but I guess I consider the starting point price of $1 to be so low for what you get in return, honestly, 10 cents increase doesn't bother me at all.

Metal base thing, I don't know what to think. Is it weird that I think plastic bases are kind of colorful and neat. Probably. :P

I doubt that it's for sale, but if you want to provide the link to this Japanese page, I can tell you what it says.

Dude, you should never have said that. Now that I know you know japanese, I'm SO gonna bother you once and again.

Majorettes on each side. And a Hot Wheels Subie in the middle. All Saico models in the middle.

PS: I wish I had the Citroen 1/32 scale. Then I wouldn't need the Pug. But...

All Siku except for the Matchbox Audi R8.

Ferrari's, Maisto 550 in the middle, rest are Hot Wheels, 288, 599, 330, 512M and 333 SP.

These next ones are my newest, Chevy Nova, Pontiac Firebird, and Ford Mustang.

Some aren't Hot Wheels.

Classic Carlectables Holden Commodore V8 Supercar, Greg Murphy 2006 Supercheap Auto.

So, as promised I'll show my collection so far since I got back into collecting these cars in September 2009. It's growing at a very encouraging rate and it's out of my expectation that after 2 and a bit years I have all these stuff!

First, I'll start with the cars on my wall:

Next, is the cars on this small shelf. On it, I have a collection of James Bond cars, Opel Vectra OPC, BMW 640i C and a Dodge Magnum Hemi.

S73F3915.JPG

On this, I don't know what to call this. A rack? This is a place where I put my ''Best of the best'' cars.

There are more here.

My loose cars.

S73F3921.JPG

Actually, there's more loose cars in this box which I don't even bother to open it anymore. Supposed to put it in the store but I'm lazy enough to do it at the moment.

So, that's my collection. I know I lack a lot of 1:18 scale cars because they're expensive but they'll come for sure!

@ Cano,
Thanks mate, and yeah i know.. i seriously regret parting with them, just looking at the collections on here makes me wish i still had my early collection.

I live in the UK.. so that's probably why i managed to get my hands on that Polistil, being part of europe etc, i do remember where i bought it, had only that and the Escort (i think), no other Polistil just plenty of Matchbox a few Corgi and no Hotwheels.. (Hotwheels were pretty hard to come by back in the day in Britain, can remember only 1 place that used to sell them in my town, and not in great number), anyway.. i have'nt lost all hope, i'm due to visit my mom in a months time, and i'm hoping i stashed some in the attic... (slim chance but fingers crossed, though i am prepared for disappointment... or so i keep on telling myself :D).

With regards to the Lancia, yeah mine is a bit worse for wear too, PS.. thanks for the info about Polistil, i had no idea they were reproduced.

@a6m5,
Yeah you're right.. it was just a blog of some kind, i was gonna provide the link, but it really doesn't say much about it at all (i'm such a noob.. i forgot about the translation function), though it's really kind of you to offer to translate, Thanks mate, (but not needed on this occassion).

Excellent collections ^^^ aswell guys, (wish i still had all my old Majorette).

Ahmad! I have some of those exact cars (same liveries too). In the second to last livery I have a the red see through Ferrari 360 Modena, the browny coloured Chevy Impala with Engine out of the bonnet and exhausts. The Volkswagen Beetle, which turns into a Dune Buggy if you take off the top. Got the 333 SP (red one), Maserati MC12, used to have the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, got the MC12, and the burgandy Mustang. And the Cobra concept. I'll find them.
