I should probably find a TLV database before I proceed. Actually, I should find a way to either store or display them before I go "shopping".

Perhaps what I should limit it to is the ones that have neat additional props on them. Some of the firetrucks got extra props on them which I found to be attractive for its price, but I'm unsure if I should go that route alone because that would entitle me to grab all versions of say- the Sambar Fire Dept...

Found a chrome red Datsun 240 if anyone wants one. It's definitely rare.

I purchased my Nissan R390 GT1 on the 14th of January and it got to my house on the 21st. Coming from the UK, that's bloody fast. The Gulf McLaren F1 was purchased a few days earlier, but it hasn't arrived yet although it's coming from Japan...:odd:

Also, Kazato's GT-R? Yup, that's another one for the "dream list", still remember the song that played when it first appeared in Initial D... Gave me goosebumps.

Funny there weren't any pictures in that article when I posted the link yesterday. And having never seen an episode of Initial D, I had no idea that the GT-R was an R32. Looks great too. Might have to get that one. :)

Yup, I thought the article already had pictures. Guess not. Regardless, the black GT-R is indeed a R32 driven by a dude called Kazato, there was also a grey (or something like that) R34 that was driven by a badass old man with glasses (his nickname was "God Foot", IIRC). I personally like the R32 more, dunno why, but I just like the R32 slightly more than the R34. Doesn't mean I don't love both, of course. :)

But my real favourite is that Copen, man, I just adore that thing. Especially after I found out about the new one...

What is that? Pics look even better than before, by the way. 👍
plastic =/= resin.
I assumed that they were, at least in 1/64 cars.
I like the BRAT & 510. 240 - Pass.
Even better, this one came with a boat!
Cool without the boat, but yes..... the boat. 👍
How do you feel about the idea that one only collects red TLVs?
I think you are nuts, but I'm not gonna lie..... I would be highly entertained.
although it's coming from Japan...:odd:
Are you new to the thread? We are always complaining about how late our Japanese shipments are!

I didn't see pics either. I'm gonna have to look at it again(see below). 👍

Oh, never mind(see above).
But yeah, I am still mesmerized by the quality of TLV cars, neither me or my parents can quite believe that they are the same size as a Hot Wheels car such as my Tesla Roadster. It's mindblowing, and part of the reason why I now love TLVs so much. 👍
True. I've been collecting them for while & I think I've gotten used to them & have gotten spoiled. 👍

Pay attention man, jeez. I'm the noob here and I'm the one noticing the pictures? What is this nonsense?

TLV cars are just something special, never in my life I thought I would stumble upon such cars until I began to see the cars in this thread, especially cars like yours. Rare JDM cars such as 1950's Toyota Crowns, Skyline race cars, Suzuki Altos... They're all quirky and yet they have a style of their own that few can replicate. You have all the right to be spoiled by that man, they are worthy. 👍

Checked Walmart again for the new Auto World cars. Walked away empty handed as usual. Getting a bit fed up.

*goes off to buy full boxes*

Can't go wrong either way, or AutoWorld, or M2, or, or, or.....

I FINALLY saw their latest regular "Muscle" series at Toys R Us, and picked up the only car I decided I needed. Green Chevelle. I remember @R1600Turbo picked up couple cars from the series, so he probably got one.

You skipped on the blue Daytona?

The white '65 Mustang from the Mustang 50th Anniversary set is fantastic too.

Not big on their Mustangs(though there are exceptions), and Daytonas, I already have couple of kickass ones, so it would have to really blow me away if I was to get another.

Edit: No interest in Tomicarama? @R1600Turbo

That's too bad about the Tomicarama. I think they really tie the 1/64 collection up nicely.

I'm all about the wall displays. Dioramas are up there too, but like a garden, they look super great only if you got the real estate for presentation. :sly:

1:64, 1:60, and 1:43!

Just threw in that 1:43 for kicks...

Opinion on HW QC .....
No RL Caterhams to be seen ..... :)

While I admire the prolific posting it is possible that you guys missed the point I was trying to make; alternatively I may have been abstruse.
The point was that the car in the middle is not 1:60; it's a 1:48. Which makes me wonder: what are the real model specs of the others?

But maybe not important. While facts are stubborn, it's only toy cars we're discussing, right? ;)

[OT] Consequentially, I saw a black Lambo Aventador for the first time ever last week... in a January winter on dry salty tarmac... The car was solid black, and it was spotless.
Let that soak in for a minute. [/OT]

I'm always amazed at the cars that fly around our Toronto streets. I've become a rubber-necker.
Not seen a Maybach yet, though.

The entire series do nothing for me. Casting's been "meh" at best, Spectrafrost sucks & plastic tires ..... they suck, too. If they had Spectraflame & real riders, I'm sure I'd be hunting them.

*edit - You guys get me, but just to clarify: personal taste

Agreed. Rarity aside, collection is a matter of personal taste. I did pick up some Cool Classics - I have ten of them - but only because they happened to be favourite marques/models. I have only one Amphicar in my collection and it is from this series. The '29 Ford Pick-up isn't so shabby either.

Got a 1-bedroom apartment, huh?

That's okay though. I don't have room for a large diorama either. Not that I want one anyway. Being able to make space-saving contraptions is something to be proud of.

I have been working on a 'foldable' city for ages now. Actually quite possible, but I lack the time to go into it full scale.
As I mentioned before, my original city was around 9' X 5' and took up quite a bit of my man-cave.
The strange part about all this is the fact that we usually photograph only a small area.
My idea was to have the different areas constructed as 'modules' that would then fit together when one needed to take a panoramic shot - but, as I said, still a work in progress.
AFAIK - it was Tomica that originally came out with environments for these little cars - IIRC, it was a gas shed (petrol station) and had 'little people' in it, too. Google probably knows where that is. :)

For collectors that collect to invest (which is basically 'buy and store') storage and display may not be a huge problem, but for those of us who like to fiddle with the things (photograph, customize, etc) space is always a problem.
I can't forget the picture that Ahmed posted once.

That being said, I need to make some storage shelf for the dioramas I've already made. My pieces are haphazardly thrown somewhere collecting dust.

I can't forget the picture that Ahmed posted once.

That's a level I cannot allow my collector self to reach. Even if I win the lottery. Hoo-
