Greenlight C-10s:

Northwest Fest 1968 Chevrolet C-10

Auction Block 1970 C-10

^^^ gas pump shot dedicated to @Spacegoat ^^^

Made a killing with this order. I'll post the Broncos later, but just one Bronco I've wanted generally go for $20. These are loose, but it was $40 for seven mostly rare GL trucks. Yipee kai yay. :P
Little annoyed about the GT-R's being released early. Combined the one I ordered with the Australia Rally Toyopet Crown. Still got to wait until next month for that one. :grumpy: Unless they want to release the Crown early too? Pretty please?
More TLV preorders on AmiAmi today. I took the white Bluebird & yellow Be-1. I passed on the last Be-1, because the yellow didn't come with the canvas top. This one does. I was also on the fence with this thing, then I wasn't(price). Look more like something from Gundam, not a cop show.
There are very few cars that I truly envy in the collections of people of this thread. Your TLV race car collection qualifies.
Thanks Cano!
what kind of crazy genius are you!?
I was probably just bored. Maybe immature. :P
But yeah, it's hard to argue, those three are the best examples of Super Silhouette cars in scale model history. TLV truly did an amazing job with them, and it shows. :)👍
I like them, but I'd take the Skylines Silhouettes over Bluebird Silhouettes any day of the week. :)
"You have been noticed, peasant."
I get noticed plenty. He usually come after me for beheading though.
Ungh. I kinda want to kick you a bit right now.
Why do I get the feeling everything in your home has size ten dent in them?
Ungh, still. I would have at least kept the card. Altough I'm all for opening cars, there are certain cars that are true survivors. I don't peruse them because I like my cars loose as you know, but when I come across one I respect it and keep it in it's prison because, well, it's been there such a long time . Case in point:

Japanese blister Playart:
16329584199_a841d5d982_o.jpg
Is that a knockoff Tomica?(says "Chimica", maybe "Timica"). Corolla on the packaging is money though. Yet another car that deserves to be in the TLV lineup. I just noticed "playart" on the card. :dopey:
Case and point.
He's actually correct. You made me double check on Google though!

Well, we're on the same page. White Bluebird and yellow Be-1 for me too because the blue Be-1 sadly doesn't have a canvas top. Also, that white C-10.

Edit: Don't know if you've seen the picture of the prototype of the Breaking Bad RV on T-Hunted? Damn, it looks good.

You buy them pickups pardner, those are some fine lookin' ladies you got there! That was the ol'highway robbery, it was.

Country speech aside, neat set of trucks, the full white one may be a bit on the basic-looking side, I prefer two-tone paint on these things. But good purchases, you know what you're doing. :)👍

Don't be silly Shinji, that millitary thingamajig doesn't come from Gundam! This does:

See? :P

I was probably just bored. Maybe immature. :P

I bet on the former, if you don't mind.

I like them, but I'd take the Skylines Silhouettes over Bluebird Silhouettes any day of the week. :)

Why not both, my dear friend? You can't have too much of a good thing, as they say. ;)

Good. I almost always pick the wrong version. I should start placing these preorders after you. Already regretting preordering the red Datsun truck to your blue/white one. :ouch:

Thank you! I have to ask though, what does your name mean!? It almost reminds me of this:

I was close.

Don't be ridicurous.

I do have both!

Just on that one. I didn't realise that the bed cover it has is removable. To steal a favourite phrase of yours, "money in the bank". And we'll put that Datsun truck down with a certain Bluebird you should have pre-ordered too. :P

It looks so freakin huge in that pic.

Do I even need to say anything, when you hit the nail on the head? Of course not, and someone better pick up that phone.

Because you called it! 👍 Better than the dude on Youtube who responded to one of my comments, making a joke about "BillyMC". Gotta have a Japanese person who knows Kinnikuman to find the right answer, haha. You probably know already the idea behind the nickname, I assume.

I was close.

Not close enough, you need to brush up on your Gundam knowledge. :P (even though I don't know that much myself)

Don't be ridicurous.

Was that a sign of Engrish I just read? It must be... Next thing you know you'll be saying Rally instead of Larry.

I do have both!

See? It's just as I said. You have all the good things, in the right amount. You pretty much own all the Holy Grails of the TLV collection, in my view. :)

The rest:

Greenlight Auction Block 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge

Ford Bronco: 1 of 4 Wild Horses(white), 2 of 4 Baja Racer(flag), 3 of 4 Baja Bronco(red/white/blue), 4 of 4 Screamin' Demon(yellow).

I recently bought the closed & opened version of the Black Bandit Broncos, but they are so tame compared to the ones in this set.

I'm gonna quote Cano then: "@#%^!#$^$%".

I think I saw that rear overhang last week, but it was inside Walmart.

WHAT DID I WIN!?!?

Seriously though, I had no idea. "Driver", I was thinking a race car driver. Yes, now I do get it. 👍

I'm a native speaker.

I don't, @jtl46 does, but he's a pro.

Hot damm son, a convertible Judge!? Didn't knew they had made one of those, looks spectacular.

Ah, and a nice set of Broncos, let's just hope none of them try to make a run for it and become a part of a police chase.

(Too soon?)

Also, how much was all of that? The four Broncos and the GTO, I mean?

WHAT DID I WIN!?!?

Seriously though, I had no idea. "Driver", I was thinking a race car driver. Yes, now I do get it. 👍

The entire boxset of Ultimate Muscle (AKA Kinnikuman Nisei), of course! Complete with English dubs, because I ain't giving you the Japanese version. Just kidding, by the way, I don't actually mean it.

For someone who had no idea, you sure nailed that one. Guess I don't need to explain the rest then, you already got it. 👍

I'm a native speaker.

Ain't doubting that. Sorry if that was uncalled for, I was merely jesting.

I don't, @jtl46 does, but he's a pro.

And he's also completely loaded. At least that's what I think, because you don't get a collection that large without some hard-earned cash behind it...

Thanks! $40 for the seven cars(Judge, Broncos & Chevy C-10 trucks). Wonderful buy!

You guys should know by now, I kid. I'm not upset, or annoyed, even. I was joking that I am a native engrish speaker. :P

I'm not 100% sure what he is. He is very generous with his readers & fellow collectors though. Always looking to share his knowlege with anybody who may need help. It's an honor to have him visit us in our community. 👍👍
Better put that Datsun Truck on your wishlist Shinji. :P
As soon as I obtain the Nissan Service Bluebird.
Also, I'm really liking the look of that Bronco with the blue roof.
And that's the one I had on my eBay watch list forever! I have to say though, that crazy looking one with the flag has become my new favorite. :D

You stole that one, I can tell you that much. Great buy, the entire set for 40 bucks was a very smart purchase. Truly wonderful 👍

Ok, guess I took that one a little too much to heart. Silly me, I don't have to take everything people say so seriously.

Hey, it was his blog posts (combined with all of your TLV sharing) that introduced me to TLV cars. Again, I can't thank him enough for sharing his passion for scale models with us lot, and enjoying it so much. I know who to call when I eventually bite the bullet and buy a TLV myself. 👍 👍

By the way, have you read one of the latest Lamley posts, with all the Skylines and Skyline Wagons? Never saw so much greatness together in one blog post before...

Oh you guys...:embarrassed:

Such kind words. Glad you liked the posts. I have a few more TLV posts ready to go, but there has been so much going on I haven't gotten to them.

And the Matchbox series I am doing with the help of Felix Holst, who just left his position at Mattel as VP of Wheels, will be awesome. He headed Matchbox when they were doing all those fantastic realistic models.

Of course, with all the love, you can also keep me humble, like today when Cano called me naive.

Cano, of course the Escort was made because of F&F, but there is a lot behind that car even being considered among the Chargers and other cars. There is precedent. I don't think my comments are naive.

Case and point.

Noup, not this time.

BTW, That Porsche looks

Not. The casting is horrible. I'm literally keeping this car because of the cool blistercard. I don't have the slightest idea of how it got here, got it in a garage sale.

@Cano

While i totally see your point about, keeping things in their cage because they've survived. On this occasion i decided to open it, because life is too short (something iv'e a fresh appreciation for over this past month), so i figured i'd go ahead and enjoy this little diecast to its fullest. And i don't regret it at all.

Yes, I know what you mean. And in the end, the blister wasn't indeed that cool, lol.

Is that a knockoff Tomica?(says "Chimica", maybe "Timica"). Corolla on the packaging is money though. Yet another car that deserves to be in the TLV lineup. I just noticed "playart" on the card. :dopey:

I was in fact going to ask what you could tell me about the stuff in the card. Full translate? That "Timica" thing is quite interesting.

Yes, there is precedent, two F&F series and two Retro series that have had F&F cars in them which have sold extremely well, as well as scalped mainline cars. Sorry dude but I can't buy the whole car culture deal you posted at Lamley, at least not for this car -because indeed, HW has gone global in a lot of other cases, and I do enjoy the stuff, even if I truly miss having at least a freaking single hot rod in a HW lineup every year... I miss it's roots- but in the case of the Escort and any tv car, as far as I'm concerned, HW is now called "money wheels" and has been for the past... heck, almost a decade now. So sad. Glass half empy, glass half full, I supose.

Kakashi. Let's do a brand comparison:

2009 Minichamps 64 Set 5
'06 Aston Martin DBS

#metalflake

Noup, not this time.

Dang. It made a lot of sense too.

edit: I almost forgot about catalog. Here's my scan. I recommend saving a copy of this if you ever want to find 1:64 Minichamps in the future. Will save you a lot of time on research:

And if you ever find any way over $15, seller is asking too much. Street cars, depending on how popular it may be, you can expect them to be as low as $10, and as high as the Racing cars.

@AOS- it's also interesting to know that Kyosho's DBS has two different castings. The most recent one from the Aston Martin Centenary Collection uses a new casting.

I don't see what there is to buy or not buy. The fact that the F&F series has been a success has a ton to do with it, no one said it didn't. There are a million aspects to what we are seeing from Hot Wheels, good and bad. The success of Matchbox in the late 00's was a huge factor to a lot of models getting greenlighted by Hot Wheels this decade. There was a lot of competition between the folks in charge of each brand, even while in the same building, until the powers that be killed it with the brand change at Matchbox. My discussion of those points does not discount the success of the F&F line being the main factor in the Escort's creation, but I chose to highlight another factor as well, for interest's sake. It is a lot more interesting than "the F&F series was a success, so they made an Escort."

In all honesty, the VW Caddy is a better example of what I am talking about. More on that on the blog next week...

I'm more excited about another Mad Propz than all the new stuff coming out.

And I have a cart full of Greenlights on eBay waiting for me to push the Proceed with Checkout button. Hmmmm.

I'm not sure where I stand on the F&F MkI Escort debate. On one hand, it is extremely obscure car in the States. Having said that, it was the "hero" car in F&F 6 + it was the car on the poster(one of my favorite movie posters).

I was in fact going to ask what you could tell me about the stuff in the card. Full translate? That "Timica" thing is quite interesting.
Wow. I googled it a bit & as far as I can tell, it's vintage engrish. Initially, I was leaning toward "Chimica", and while it is pronounced that way in Japanese, I now believe that it is a mispronunciation of "Timica" in Japan. On the front of the card, along the bottom, it reads: Timmy's Minicar Series. I'm guessing that little Buckingham Palace Guard-boy is Timmy, though I could be completely wrong.

edit: I almost forgot about catalog. Here's my scan.
 You..... I'm sorry to say, but you remind me of a drug dealer. :dopey:
They've retooled the R32 as well. I'll get into details when my other Skylines come in.
I never got the chance to check out the old Kyosho R32, but I recently received the one from their new Skyline series. It's fantastic.

It's a real shame that Mattel is slowly killing off Matchbox (as i'm sure many will agree). For me, Matchbox's best times were in the early 80's to the late 90's. Sure, the 00's were really fantastic too, but i feel by that time i could kind of sense that Mattel would cut back on what Matchbox did best..

The thing that annoys me with HW's approach, is the money thing. Don't get me wrong, they're in the business to make money and i'm really glad they're doing more cars that have global appeal. But with regards to the F&F thing, why wait so long to release the Toyota Supra? for instance.. It can't have been a licensing issue, as Mattel must have had the license for some time, they even did a Tooned Supra years before. It just seems to me they're capitalising on the F&F appeal. And i feel that is the sole reason *we're getting the Escort RS1600*. If it weren't for that film series, i doubt very much that we'd be getting it.

*I use the phrase "we're getting the Escort RS1600" very loosely, as i'm sure for many of us, it'll be unobtainable, due to.. well you know..*

Oh ffs can we just appreciate the car for what it is?
No! :grumpy:

Besides. It's not just about the F&F Escort (or "Brian's Escort"). For me, it has just as much to do with the current state of Matchbox.

Really wish they were still doing what they did best, rather than the trickle that they've now become.

HW's Escort is  but that goes without saying.

:D
