That's a lot of tampo removal. I'd like to customize one of them and remove most of the "custom" features to make just a regular van.

I reckon just removing the, eh... things in the top would have it looking still custom but a lot more normal and cooler. Thow in some BBS wheels and off you go. Or some modern Matchbox wheels.

edit: Yo Shinji. My 2nd order of stuff (like 10 items), shipped by SAL reached 3450 yen with this additional "SAL handling fee" they tacked on for 1000 yen. Has nothing to do with our scenario, but thought I'd share a benchmark number.

One other thing I forgot to mention. Jauce has mentioned that people in Japan doing local deliveries tend not to invest a lot into "safe" packaging since their postal service generally handles this packages super carefully... unlike us here apparently (cavemen-handling, and 'fraidy-cat customers). What this means is that Jauce gives us the option to either to repack all deliveries into a cardboard box for a flat fee of 1200yen, or they can ship the item in whatever packaging it comes in at no additional cost.

I'm going to ask the dude to examine the specific package to see if it is sturdy enough to be forwarded to you. If not, I suggest having everything sent to me so you don't need to risk a crushed package nor pay the repacking fee. How's that sound?

Got these cars over the course of the last week, with all but the AW Galaxie going toward custom projects.

Fox Body Mustangs arrived today. Tracking said estimated arrival on Saturday, so yay for speedy service.

Decided to use a black backdrop this time around, and it's not any better than white.

Black is appropriate for light-coloured subjects. What's beneficial with white is that its properties allow more light to reflect off of it, adding light to the sides of the car improving the appearance of the paint's finish. Plus, you don't need as much lighting power to photograph.

I've tried all sorts of backdrops before. My ideal one would be an entirely gloss black surface and a dark background, but I haven't gotten around to figuring out how to do the curved backdrop thing without the reflection of the light source getting captured too.

If I did, which I might be able to try something closer to spring, I could potentially retire this 11x17 card I've been using for over a year.

'62 Custom. I'm still waiting for my local stores to get those cars(long shot this late in the game). P.S. I posted those two 1/18's in the diecast thread, when you get the chance to check them out.

And I forgot about that Dodge ram SRT trailer thingy too. Pretty darn sweet. On the fence on whether I'll get one or not though. Of course if I do, I'll need to get a Dodge car of some sort to go with it........

I guess M2 has Greenlight beat in this department. M2 would have provided a matching car!

Let me tell you, Engrish is not the only strong thing about a TLV car, that much I know.

I realize that. Either way, in the case I need protective shipping, I pay in form of the 1200 yen fee, or roughly same amount from Canada to here.

I think you might be misunderstanding this just a bit.

If you wanted to repack it and have the item shipped to you from Jauce, it's 1200 for repack plus (approx) 1200 for SAL for a total of $24.

If I send something to you, it's only going to be roughly $12 at most. Hope that clear it up.

I like the silver one. I actually stumbled upon the white one while looking for the silver one. Paid more than I wanted to for the pair ($35 including shipping). But they seem to be hard to find, not many of them up for sale.

Gonna post a nice photo with the white one tonight and a couple other cars.

Sorry for the delayed response, but thanks for the link. 👍 It actually the Lamley blog who introduced me to the Super Silhouette TLVs, which was I remembered the white Bluebird. Staring at pictures of it on eBay helped of course. The pricetag, on the other hand, doesn't really help that much... Those reasons were why I brought the car up in the first place.

Walked into my local Walmart tonight and was instantly smacked in the face by new Retro cars. Got the 007 Aston, Ghostbusters II Ecto and the BTTF Manure covered Ford. Then as soon as my paycheck hits tomorrow I've got some Greenlight GTO's sitting on my watch list that will be purchased, along with those Army Jeeps.

Then I might sell my other car this weekend, so trying to decide what to waste the cash on. GTi parts? Laptop?, Gaming PC? Hmmm.
