What have they screwed up on the VWs? I'm just curious, but I do have three of them & I adore them. I've considered them some of the most realistic 1/64 scale cars, but it's not like I inspected them really closely either.

The 5-door CLi is an early model (1986), but it has elements from the 1990-92 facelift, namely the revised grille and the oversized VW badge on the back. I'm guessing this was done to share costs with the TLV GTI, which is a facelift model. On the CLi box art, the grille is correct.
As for the GTI itself, there is nothing incorrect, just a couple things left out, again probably for cost reasons. The big one is that there is no GTI badge on the grille--it's just completely missing. Repeating the theme, the red areas on the door rub strips are also blank--the GTI lettering is missing. Strange omissions, as other TLVs have had far more detail before and since.

I won't post all of these so go HERE for the rest.

I tell you what, for basic retail cars available at most major stores, the guys in charge of Auto World and now Johnny Lightning/Racing Champions can do seriously good quality tampos, especially in regards to attention to detail and placement. This also goes for painted details. 👍

It's just a shame that Auto World and Johnny Lightning's reputation in Europe is next to virtually unknown, so the chances of an European tour de force are very slim. For their availability and price, JL definitely stands out in terms of overall quality and tampo design. They actually look like more limited edition-type models that you'd see from people like Tomica (I dare say). If Auto World can maintain this consistency in terms of quality, they are onto a winner. 👍

I know next to nothing about the VWs.... then again, to be honest, I would've also missed small details like those on lot other cars. I still think their Golfs look great, very happy with them, but it is interesting to read critiquing from someone who's very knowledgeable about both the cars & minicars, too. Thanks for taking the time to explain! 👍
Nevermind the Catalina, that Rebel Machine shows that JL is ready to rumble with the best of them when it comes to 1:64 cars. There is gold hiding in them hills, I'm telling you. That white Rebel has gone way up in my dream list...

I thought the car looked familiar! From my super old post.

Actually, all that cool livery on the side is missing in the new pics. After seeing this old release, car looks little plain in the new photo?
I hate when this happens. :indiff:

Hmm, that I wasn't aware of... Maybe the livery is still unfinished on the future 2016 line model? Releasing the Rebel without decals would make for an unique JL Rebel variation, but you are right, those same decals do make the paintjob far less plain-looking. Well, only time can answer our doubts...

Year's coming close to an end and I've been tracking spendings on a monthly basis. The trend is going good.

I only regret recording so late because I probably would've stopped using Jauce much sooner than I did.

Yeah, I'm interested to see what the finished product may look like. 👍

Forwarding service is expensive. I used it just one time to import really hard to find TLV set(and expensive), because it wasn't too rare in Japan & MUCH cheaper, but I haven't used mine since. :D
Amazingly, this came in today from Japan (thanks for the tip @AOS- ). Only 8 days after I paid for it (postage was a very fair £4.63).

CM's
I bought this one from Andy awhile back:

I think it's one of the most well detailed 1/64 cars I have, if not the best. I also ordered the same one you just received, and been really looking forward to checking it out(Thank you Andy 👍).

Andy sold me a Fiat 131 as well and I don't even remember which one it is.
No matter, it's in the mail with so many goodies, so look forward to that.

As am I, after seeing some of the JL cars that you've posted... They have certainly caught my attention, and if they can keep this quality up, I can be persuaded to part with some of my money for their sake. 👍

Well, CM knew their rally cars, huh? Both yours and Apok's 131 Abarths look incredible, there's nothing to fault in their execution. Apart from the Mitsubishi Lancer that they did, CM seems to have a near-flawless lineup of rally cars...

Glad you two are pleased with the quality of CM's models!

If you ever want more low price CM's, you know who to reach.

Little late... but its possible the JL rebel machine is lacking the livery because its going to be the limited street variant (stripes but no lettering) in wich case itd be a re-release... i can dig up the one i've got when i get home in a few days

Got my package from AmiAmi, but it's going to have to sit at the post office for a few days. Not going anywhere today (I hate large crowds and today is a no travel day for me) and obviously they are closed on the 25th, so Saturday it is.

I was wondering about that. @Niku Driver HC & myself would be interested in what you find out. 👍

Just paid for mine. Cars are so cool this month I actually paid for EMS service. What do you have coming?

Vision 2020 concepts.
Red & gray? I'm really digging the purple I think is either next month or February? I'll likely pass though, unless 2020 becomes my next favorite casting or something. I have red one of the way by the way.

I'm only getting the first two, not interested in the rest.
