That is because, in grand Hot Wheels tradition, the "base car" would be extremely modified. No factory 67 Cougar ever wore such front spoiler, rear spoiler, fender flares (specially these), nor such a hood scoop. Look at it as a trans-am-ized version off the car. I've already opened up one of the white ones to develop some racing livery on it. Only thing I left in place was the Mercury Cougar scripting on the rear quarter panel. Rest of the car's white is going to be a great starting point.

So, its not real then. Crappus.

Same goes for the widebody Chevelle I guess then (kinda figured it was, but wanted to be sure.

Edit: Holy crap, it just occurred to me that the 2008 casting of the 67 Shelby GT500 is Eleanor from Gone in Sixty Seconds.

Just...amazing, somehow I never noticed that. Also, the Toyota 2000GT is missing a passenger seat. Is it based off the Shelby run race car?

Indeed.

Very indeed, altough that one is way more extreme than the Cougar. Think of it a Speedhunters version of a 70 chevelle

It indeed is. It's also one of the worse casting ever done by HW. Ew.

It is because the 2000GT's first appearance was going to be the second series of HW's Vintage Racers line up -the one that only appeared in Canada and Brazil- that got canceled, so the car, already a racer, went on to be a mainline and a $TH in it's first year as a way to compensate for the canceled Shelby version, which as we all know, later appeared as an unobtanium RLC car.

Well that's both interesting and sad, would've love to have had a racing liveried one to go along side the '70 Toyota Celica (which seems abit modified like the cougar) and the RX-7 I have.

Anyhow, another huge Christmas surprise was a Porsche 934 Turbo RSR (the first Hot Wheels Porsche I have purchased since the 911 GT3 five years ago), which is decked out in Falken Tire Livery (even has the same number).

Also got:

Corvette Grand Sport Roadstar (Second one this year, white with a single red stripe)
Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR (Second one overall, decked out in Speedhunters colors)

And then some I got a month ago:

Lancia Stratos
Subaru BRAT (the car that made me go "Wait, Subaru made truck-like vehicles? )
'70 Ford Escort RS1600
2014 Corvette Stingray (FINALLY!!!
happybounce.gif
)

I got my amiami order for December. 2020VGT, Kyosho Golf, TLV Bimmer & Audi police, etc. So exciting.

From another store, I also received the most expensive TLV vehicle I've ever purchased:

It didn't arrive in one piece. :(

I asked the shop to give me discount, so I can glue it back on, or give me the full refund. It's one of the few items I shelled out the dough with resale/collectible value in mind, so this seriously suck.
It wasn't a Hot Wheels - what did you expect? Durability? :D
With hot wheels, it's damaged/ripped cards, or for loose cars, chipped paint, etc. Been thru tons of damage claims on them, too!

I was left aghast actually looking at the dumpbin at Walmart. Seemed like some gang of hooligans had been throwing them around - ripped packages, crushed packages, empty packages - not one package in that dumpbin was worthy of being kept in a package. Do they empty that bin out into a grinder every now and then and throw them all back into the bin again?
In any case - since I open all my packages I wasn't too miffed, but I pity the guys who come looking for pristine packages.

As for chipped paint or pieces falling off the real thing - well, one has to be really rough with a HW to get there - they're built kid-tough. So all was well, since they were all shiney-shiney when I freed them from their tatty cardboard prisons.

I did get a Subaru Brat that I would have like to keep in the package, but it looked like someone had thrown it in and out of the dumpbin half a dozen times - so looking forward to opening that. :D

Considering that it would've been one of the most important pieces in my collection, this one hurts. :(

Yeah, that is really what sucks about it, know how excited you were for that transporter to arrive. But hey at least that Golf is nice, love the colour. 👍
so that's about $20.66 for each car. Brilliant!

Great deal. 👍

I have inherited the Panda's luck!
The Panda rules no more! :mischievous:
I am the Panda!
Pandarider!

Welcome to the club! (I know this is old, but I had to reply...finally)

LIFE UPDATE!

divorced / remarried / baby on the way!!!

This year I have had the joy (:() of moving my entire collection into one 10 by 15 storage unit.
I've met the woman of my dreams.
She ended being a closet gamer, which I didn't know until 6 months into the relationship.
She has a 6yr old who loves Hot wheels!
I have been buying and selling matchbox/Hotwheels with him for a few months.
He now knows the sound my phone makes when I receive an offer on eBay lol
My wife and I are expecting baby Panda in May!
I'm moving (again) in July.

PS: I will be moving my entire collection again in July/August 2016.
You can mark it down. Once I have taken everything out of storage besides them, I will take a picture of EVERYTHING I have. :D

The Panda is dead! Long live the Panda!

Welcome back, DW, great to see you're alive and well, and more importantly, :mischievous: that you have not given up on your old GTP buddies.
Alright, I'm kidding, the stuff that's going on in your life is far more important.
Congratulations and the very best of luck!
If it makes any difference - I had to go around the block a second time, too - should I say the second time's the charm?

Did you not say the same thing about your first? :P

Dreams change. As an 17 yr old (when met my first wife, I didnt know what I wanted. just companionship.
Once I hit 29 and was still unhappy, I realized at least some common interests are vital. If you don't spend some of your free time doing things together, you'll fall apart. She crafted with coworkers. I went to flea markets, conventions and built bikes in the basement.

Now, I have a nerdy (compliment) gamer gal who wants the simple life that I want and not the big house, new car vacations oversease that I left.

Wasn't it awesome hearing all that . :D

BTW: I'm going to post a haul that I grabbed last weekend while out shopping for last minute pokemon stuff for the kiddo. Lucky me the game store had a diecast area of things they took in on trade. needless to say, I ransacked the place. I think 8 or 10 target race aces were the best things just based on rarity (not value) but I did find one thing that made me chuckle. As in, I'm stealing this from you guys!

These are the matchbox I picked up. Apologies for the picture quality. I won't have a designated area set up until I've moved in July.

These were marked up to 1.99/piece. Pretty much retail except for the Impreza. When I saw that, I figured I'm paying $16 for that and the other 7 are free. :)

And then these two. The thunder rollers card is beat to hell but I'm opening it anyway. The bluebird, well just sitting there for. 99. I was stunned. Then again, why were die cast in a comic/trading card shop??
