That is because, in grand Hot Wheels tradition, the "base car" would be extremely modified. No factory 67 Cougar ever wore such front spoiler, rear spoiler, fender flares (specially these), nor such a hood scoop. Look at it as a trans-am-ized version off the car. I've already opened up one of the white ones to develop some racing livery on it. Only thing I left in place was the Mercury Cougar scripting on the rear quarter panel. Rest of the car's white is going to be a great starting point.
So, its not real then. Crappus.
Same goes for the widebody Chevelle I guess then (kinda figured it was, but wanted to be sure.
Edit: Holy crap, it just occurred to me that the 2008 casting of the 67 Shelby GT500 is Eleanor from Gone in Sixty Seconds.


Just...amazing, somehow I never noticed that. Also, the Toyota 2000GT is missing a passenger seat. Is it based off the Shelby run race car?
