These are the matchbox I picked up. Apologies for the picture quality. I won't have a designated area set up until I've moved in July.

Good picks. Very hard to find at that price. And I'll see your Impreza and raise you a Bimmer:

People change, things change! You will know this in about ten years!

But what if he doesn't change? And doesn't even know he hasn't changed?

Nice Nissans, but I've never seen the Porsche before. Nice. 👍

Yeah, I'd never seen it before either. When I originally found the box of mystery models in the store, had no idea what series they were. Turns out they're 2016's. Who knew? The GTO and Jaded are the only other ones I quite like the look of. Not much else there really interests me too much.

Absolutely beautiful. Quite often I forget I'm in the box-size thread and think I'm looking at scale models, because these are really well done. The replica market is just amazing right now.

That's a trance right there - just lining 'em up and looking at them. 👍

Is it already New Year - or still into the eve over there?

It's currently 2 pm over here, so not yet.

I just hope that mainstream brands such as Matchbox would make those race cars too in detail, at a more reasonable pricing.

No I totally get the idea as I've experienced this sooo long ago (despite my age), but now I'm actually more like the opposite. I like to refrain from declaring things as the best choice/decision until I've got plenty of things to compare to. Kinda makes sense (at least to me) from a logical standpoint.

And lastly this rather sweet Mystery Models GT3 I found at a grocery store.

Good thing it's a GT3, because I'd be zipping through eBay stores to find that had it been the GT2.

So no end-of-year group shot? :( My eyes can take it. :dopey:

Your eyes are willing, but our patience is weak.

Here are my last models of 2015. View it on a desktop!

Holy Batman, Andy. :boggled:
Well, that's a good way to end the year. But, hey, it ain't over yet? It's only 1:00 in the morning here.

*shakes head sadly.

I don't have any hopes of that, Kakashi - the market is so saturated with the bona-fide diecast companies biting into the small scale market that MBX and HW have no clout. Sure, they still make some larger models with better quality and greater detail, but they still neglect the 'toy' scales because of their already established and much larger toy market that wants toys that can actually be handled safely by toddlers.
I'm happy though that HW is bringing in more premium models with nicer wheels - but as Cano mentioned years ago in a somewhat similar discussion, the casts they're using are the mainline casts which will never work for proper replication. They've got to mold from scratch - and if they do - actually I'm sure there are adult collectors who will pay $10.00 for a properly scaled HW with detailed tampos, jewel lights, rubber tires, full metal jacket, the works.
We can only keep hoping.
Meanwhile - do we lack for good model-makers? Heck, no - the last two years has seen this thread just bursting with all sorts of great replicas - and 'big' names some of us never even heard of before.

Welp, I got no more cars coming in and I've been deliberately avoiding Walmart to keep HW impulses to a low.

I really am going to be tightening this "cutting-down" business for 2016 and so on.

But to make this post a bit more interesting, I'll pull some data I kept to share:

Last year, I purchased approximately 387 cars.

This year, I purchased 218 (includes 1/18s). I've cut down by 43.7% since last year.

My goal for 2016 aim is to beat 2015's record by 80%... so that's 44 cars for the entire year (again, including 1/18s). It should be both attainable and realistic given any HW/MBX surprises we may receive.

If only there were 1000 little cheap cars I'd like to get :P

Edit: Actually there was one more car I grabbed in 2015 I didn't share for the longest time:

kyosho beads nissan fairlady jgtc motul autech z test car 2006
And that is the last of 2015 purchases.

End of the year for me has been sloooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww as crap. No 2016s whatsoever, no online buys, nothing decent off fleamarkets... hell not even donor cars. Very lame.

So I leave you with a long-overdue update on the cars off my shelf. Hot Wheels 1957 Chrysler 300C. This thing is cool even covered in dust.

Nice flat black Z there @AOS- Killer rims. Also, I always enjoy your before/after of the old classics @Cano So satisfying to see the "after" photos. :embarrassed::tup:

I just picked these up at Target few minutes ago. Don't be jealous guys, I just got lucky.

OK, slow end of the year for me, too. Not even a new Z car. :P

'new year, my friends. All of you.

Happy New Year, Cano, old bud - hope 2016 brings all the very best to you.
BTW - Best car on this page so far - but since '57 was a good year you're cheating.

Picked these up a few days ago...

Couldn't pass up the Ford GT in Gulf livery, one of my favourite car/livery combinations of all time (even though it's not a GT40 it still fits the car).

001.jpg

Haven't seen Majorette cars on sale in Australia for at least 10 years, so it's great to be able to get them here again. Nice to see some obscure cars being made in 1/64 as well.

Was rather disappointed in the lack of Matchbox everywhere I looked, most stores only had about 3 cars on the pegs save for an auto parts store which had a bunch of cars that had been sitting on the pegs since 2012 - not surprising since they were charging double the price of anywhere else.

Just saw this in a multipack. Pretty nice.

That is a good one for a multi pack. Needs chrome wheels though.

Now that is lovely! 👍

Went through some of the stuff I've posted in 2015. I got loads of cool stuff, but this is probably my favorite.

EDIT:
Oh and duuuh, almost forgot.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I hope this thread is as active and full of nifty stuff in 2016 as it was last year.

If I had to choose my favorite addition from 2015, off the top of my head, it would be this:

0000000000.JPG

I already had the Fairlady patrol car, but I really liked the look of this Z pato-car, which was only available from TLV's 'nostalgic emergency vehicles' set. Very hard to find release outside of Japan(at a reasonable price anyway). More pics.

Great pick. Sometimes, packaging makes the car more enjoyable for me, and while this super clean Renault's awesome as is, clean box makes it even sweeter.
