Myself, I'm in it for both, hence why I buy two cars. One to open, one to lock away in a dark closet. :D
At the moment, I'm keeping all the Designer Series and that one TH in its blister. I also have a bunch in blisers, but I'm painting those in the future so I want to keep it as dust-free as possible before painting.
I also appreciate the packaging art(illustration). Plus I can see the car just fine out of the blister thing.
Yeah, only from one angle. Buy what blister cards won't ever provide you with is the excitement you get when you see a 100+ cars all just sitting together on a table or something...

How about Furai? I can't remember if anybody here's seen one yet.

The Furai has been out for a while. As for new for 2012 versions of the Furai, I've only seen a new paint scheme on it in 10-packs. No joy on a single 2012 Furai yet.

Going to take the more "common" cars out of the blister... :scared:
Now we're getting somewhere. This makes sense. If one can get loads of it, get two anyway, or just don't think of that particular model as an investment.

The Furai came in both a crimson and silver-grey; I have posted pics about a year ago.

Thanks guys. I do have the silver/gray one. Hoping to score the new white before too long. I'm sorry I missed the crimson one. I'll google it later. *edit Wow, the red one's kick ass. 👍 I'm REALLY sorry I missed it.

Sylux, I don't know anything about those two models, unfortunately. Try looking on here & here. A search on those two sites should give you an idea of their rarity I would think.

I'm not a huge fan of the newer Skylines, but I did pick up one of each:

This stuff gotta be cheap online though, if you can get them past your parents(I feel like a bad influence lol). ......wait. I just searched for "R34 Skyline" on eBay and ToyPeddler, there are total of just two, that are sold by itself. Even the R35(2009 GT-R) seems rare. Unbelievable.

I still say don't even sweat the Kenmeri, because I still see tons of it around here. It's only a matter of time before the supply catches up. If it doesn't, I can even mail you one.

As for the R34 & R35, if you want it bad enough, you might pay few bucks more & get them from eBay? Way I approach this hobby, if I can't score them easily, or cheaply, I don't worry about it. TH 240Z was going for $20, but I was too cheap. Then they started coming down a bit, I nabbed one at $17(not that much cheaper lol). If I don't get something, it's not the end of the world, like the case with Rod Strickland basketball cards. :P

I am very much a fan of all Skylines, apart from the V35/V37 gens. Unfortunately, due to several issues...with my parents, I probably won't be able to get the R34 and R35 for quite a while off the internet. I'll be hunting as hard as I can to find myself that Kenmeri and hoping I might have the same luck as the Hakosuka Skyline (with it being right at the front of the pegs).

@Sylux024
I don't believe the Enzo and FXX is uncommon, they've been out for quite a while in several different packs. Which ones did you buy? (Ferrari Racer, 5-Pack, or singles)

Recently, I've been making a small thing on opening up my hot wheels. Pretty much a small ritual everyday where I open up at LEAST one a day. It just feels good to open them up and have them in your hands, even though they may not be as small as they used to be when you were a kid. Planning on going out to Toys R Us to finally buy the more expensive models like the $4 Ferrari Racers (really want a F430 Scuderia, my favorite Ferrari :D) and maybe look into some Boulevards. Really wish they were cheaper, the Ferrari's feel a bit scary at $4... :nervous:

EDIT: The local Toys R Us also has some left over Speed Machines, might look into those. Except last time I looked, they only had two models... So does that mean that's the end? Since the Speed Machines were 2011? :(

@medingoflame

Ermm, I don't really remember I think they were on singles or 4 pack together. I remember that they were far from cheap though!

I even open my $uper Treasure Hunts. The only two cars in my collection that are still in their blisters are these:

But of course, that is becuse I did the illustrations in the cards, heh.

I understand the investment appeal and all that, but I just cannot enjoy cars that are locked away in a bubble.

EDIT: And for whoever said something about the art in the cards, yup, I do apreciate it too, that's why I also keep the cards (:

Exactly, you are Collector #2 according to my 2 rules of collecting on the last page. :)

But in 50 years, my cars will be worth more than yours, so there. :P

There's definitely two camp merging in this thread, if not in the hobby. Somebody should PM SVX(OP?) and see if we could add a poll. :D

P.S. Schwartz, they do not have any cookies, they lie!

On it. :D

Technically, I'm pretty sure the correct way to collect anything is to keep them sealed. Having said that, what is the point in collecting anything any other way than the way you prefer?

I like our way, because keeping one(or couple, or three hundred) sealed, opening spare is a nice compromise.

You are like the man, right now. Awesome job, thank you. :D:tup:

Dude in 50 years we'll be dead lol. But yes I know. And I've tried, really. But when I have a car, specially a car that I really like, and it's still in the package, I cannot resist the urge. I was even thinking to tell the club guys to give me my club cars uncarded haha, but that would have been a bit too much lol.

Nice. Bought the same 5 pack for the same car. :)

Which car are you talking about?

This one?

Or this one?

All I saw was this one:

Notice no steering wheel. These cars were thought-controlled.

Hey, Sylux024 - welcome to the thread!:)

Did you put those cars in those packs? :odd:

Not sure how old you are, but I don't plan on being dead at 77.

Sshhh! ;) now just imagine if we had packs like that.

That Mazda 2 gave it away.

edit:guess what? AOS scored big!!!! A Zellers was closing down so their cars were on sale... And the Walmart beside it flooded the front pegs with 2012 releases which I then proceeded to flood my bag with. Before I knew it, I purchased 50 cars before even heading downtown today.

Here are some of my new cardboard trays with protective dividers between my Majorettes.

Note the taller dividers at the sides of the first two trays to prevent the trays above from resting on the tops of the cars below. These trays then fit neatly into the boxes that the cars were stored in for the past decade, so I can easily put them back into storage without having to hunt for new boxes.

And now for my usual close-ups. Click on the thumbnails for fullsize.

27) Speedboat transporter, canoe trailer pulled by (probably incorrect) Renault 11 and a loose boat that I'm sure is a Majorette.
28) Firetrucks. The smaller one is missing its ladder.
29) A Couple of day-glo camping cars.
30) An "Autobus" and a Ford Transit Minibus.
31) Limousines. The lighter one is marked as a Mercedes, the dark one only says Limousine.

32) Bulldozer, Garbage Truck and a Heavy Duty Wreck Truck.
33) A custom Sonic Flashers Tank that used to make gun noises when the suspension was compressed. Also a Dune Buggy and 4x4 Crazy Car.
34) A "Bank Security" truck, "Fourgon" Police van and unmarked police car.
35) A pair of Ambulances and a Snowmobile.
36) A Pair of Toyota Lite Ace vans and a Ford Transit towtruck.

37) Three candy promotinal vans, the black one stamped "made in china", the other two "welly", though the blister packs all said Majorette.
38) VW van, Matra Simca Bagheera and Chevy Impala Taxi.
39) "Toyota 4WD", Toyota Celica and Nissan 300ZX. The latter two have pop-up headlights.
40) Brabham F1, Generic F1 and Matra Simca 670.

41) Toyota Landcruiser towing a caged lion, and VW Golf GTi.
42) A Pair of Toyota Pick ups, one towing a trailer.
43) A "Rodeo" van and trailer with badly cracked canopies, and a Citroen Dianne Rallye.
44) An El Camino towing an unknown trailer and a badly worn Excelsior.
45) A Nasa Land Rover and radar on a trailer.

46) A pair of black Jeeps, one a CJ and the other a Cherokee.
47) Renault 4 van and Acadiane.
48) Mercedes 190E and Audi 90.
49) 1980's French Hot Hatches. A Renault 5 Turbo and Peugeot 205 GTi.

50) Ford Escort and Citroen XM.
51) Ferrari F40 and BMW M1.
52) Renault Clio and Honda Prelude.
53) Ford Thunderbird and Peugeot 405.

Close your eyes, Medigo. At least don't look at the bottom half.

Uber-rage! I'm going hunting on Saturday, fingers crossed.

Don't want to sound like an "attention-whore," but I had asked a question that wasn't exactly answered. I know this happens quite often, but I'm hoping to know if it's worth spending the money or waiting...

EDIT: The local Toys R Us also has some left over Speed Machines, might look into those. Except last time I looked, they only had two models... So does that mean that's the end? Since the Speed Machines were 2011? :(

Is there a possibility they might have more in stock? What do you guys have to say? <_<

Oh, i didnt realize that you was hunting these both Skylines that i bought today. I wasn´t following the conversation, and honestly i just came here to admire these diecast´s pics many few times.

These Skylines are from the 2011 collection, so i don´t know if its easy or hard to find those rite now on USA (i live in Brazil, here is normal to get things outdated, compared from there). Also, i found these sold single, not in carpacks.

In general, Hot Wheels colections lacks JDM, specialy the old ones. I still looking for any AE-86, but never found anything. At least in here.

Aaaah screw you. That Jada Initial D crap is now freaking scarce and the price makes you cry. I've always wanted them but they're absolutely out of reach.
