9 times out of 10 you'll find some helpful info stamped there.
You thought I didn't think to check there? It's annoying how cars these days don't get a name stamped on the bottom anymore... it was it was in a pack of 10 so I have no info on it whatsoever. :grumpy:

Thanks for the name on the GTO though, I can't identify muscle cars too well they all look the damn same for the most part

Went out today to depressingly find out that Toys R Us and Target are finally barren...(for me at least with nothing of great interest) And finally...Walmart was restocked! So here's my purchases. :)

IMG_1278.jpg

Loving the CLK GTR, Raptor, and Charger from Maisto. :D
370Z is HUGE! @_@
Bought my first doubles: Aventador and FF.
Finally, a purple Barracuda.

Checked the mystery car bags at Walmart as well. Unfortunately they're almost all gone. :( Since the last time I came they were new and boxes were full.

Also i found a ultra rare 1/64 scale johny lightning import head Acura nsx, rubber tires and yokohama graphics in my closet in mint condition, I wish JL still had import heat, was a great series!

also found import heat BF good rich integra/ metal base rubber tires and Eibach honda accord/metal base/rubber tires.

will post pics.

Very small Teaser:

I'm ripping my hair off in sheer, undulterated envy. I hate you more than any other human being right now. I don't care at all if there are lots and lots, I want pics of each and every one of them. The hate will diminish with pics.

also, they were a gift, right? Your friend sure has deeeeeeeeeep pockets, most of those things are so expensive it hurts.

Don't they?

[Goes off to check his collection]

What the...

I have in front of me two '70 Monte Carlos.
A '11 Muscle Mania with the name cast into the base, and
A '12 Muscle Mania GM with an address in the Netherlands instead.

Can't say I like this one bit. I've been quietly criticising other manufacturers this week whilst trying to ID my off brand diecasts, and now this. At least I know where to send my complaints!

ikr: some people just have way to much money to just through at things...this is nothing considering her taste in hand bags and clothes, apparently this was a small token of friendship, But i am not complaining i didn't even ask, All she said was she noticed my hobby in collecting cars, and said what would i like for my birthday..

Of being me i kept it simple.. Also: MY COLLECTION IS NO WHERE NEAR NOT EVEN CLOSE OR EVEN TIDBIT TO YOUR MASSIVE TOYSTORE!

Again also: anyone notice the huge jump in detail with 2011 series hotwheels? the overall quality in paint and "correctly" placed tampos, i myself: purchased about 6 ken mary skylines and 4 rx7..

Silence about my toy store, I'd have to sell half of it or more to attain the cars that you were just given.

Also, it has been the exact contrary for me, the quality in HW is the lowest I've seen for 20 years, since they were made in China. The tampos are horrid, there are errors everywhere, and there have been cars that come with chipped paint inside the blister card. I have one in my hands now, a BMW 2002 I bought (was the only one in the store) and upon further inspection, the paint is all chipped in the A-pillar and the hood. It's gonna be customized, but still...

i meant to say newer t hunts, super t hunts and speed machines. Now about regular hotwheels, Why is it that theyre is only about 2 sides that can have tampos?
i say this because i have 2009 cadilac CTS-V and it has them on front, side and rear.

Well my laptop's hard drive failed so I have no way of posting pictures anymore, but I hit the Target today and walked out with 8 cars, one of which is the IROC Camaro.

370Z is HUGE! @_@
That one Maisto is surprisingly really well made. I'm also quite astounded how the Maistos come in different cards than the ones we get here...

I have everything else you posted, minus the Raptor, but I can easily just grab that off the rack at work if I really wanted one which I don't.

I think Maisto's are great for the money. Very simple looking and easy to customize. The VW's and Porsche's they make are pretty good.

I love the Matchbox Raptor I got awhile back. Great modeling as usual by them. 👍

Sorry to hear that(which brand?). I love the Camaro, minus the oversized rear wheels.

This is the car that got me into collecting. One of my favorite Hot Wheels:

IMG_0241.jpg

I'm still working on my photography. I got my focus a lot better with this, but what is up with the lighting!? I got enough light on it, but I'll have to figure out the yellow-ish light. **edit: I got the yellow light issue fixed. While messing around with my camera setting, I accidentally made it widescreen and with date. Also more blurry. :dopey:

My latest:

These guys were on sale today. I've been looking for the 512M, so I was happy about that. Vintage Racing were $2.99, so I was happy about the Camaro. Unfortunately, out of near-brand new bin box of Vintage Racing, 510/Bluebird were cleaned out as usual. I think the scalpers & hogs just take every single 510, and touch nothing else. I want one more!

IMG_0232-1.jpg

Another Back to the Future, as they had like five of them, and I don't mind stocking up on this one to give away to friends. Another MOPAR.

The ones I purchased were the only ones I saw on the pegs. So there were sort of special to me. The Maisto pegs are mainly full of Viper RT/10s, Caymans, Panameras, Mustangs, and 1-Series. When I saw those four when it was restocked, I felt the need to buy it. Especially the fact that I love the CLK GTR and I'm not sure I'd be able to find another stock Raptor. Since I believe the Matchbox Raptor in it's standard colors is gone. :/

I think Maisto's are great for the money. Very simple looking and easy to customize. The VW's and Porsche's they make are pretty good.

It is nice to be able to buy seven diecast cars for under seven dollars compared to buying hot wheels. I do plan on starting my customizing with them. Haven't seen many of the VW maistos yet.

Recently got some new windows and blinds the past two days and decided to experiment with the new lighting I've gotten with them:

PIC_0428.jpg

Thoughts?

This picture has a hypnotic quality about it. The composition is fabulous - the eye taken to the red light at two o’clock, then up the pillar and along the dark beam down towards the left to jump into the Aston’s lit interior - a sharp contrast to the mysteriously darkened windows of the Lambo. And then the eye is attracted by the red ’danger’ light on the wall at two o’clock and away we go again.. . .

The detail that’s missing can be solved by a smaller aperture combined with a longer exposure.

^^^ Cool collection you got there photon! :D:tup:

Thanks, Vspec - your enthusiasm is infectious!:)

What would you like to know? They're from the 4 car Spy Print series released in '97. You're missing the purple Stealth car which is hideous anyway. They came with many variations so one of them could be valuable, but you'd have to research.
I'm more interested in the Yatming in the background. (has 7 on hood)

Thanks for the quick reply, DW, I wish I could respond as quickly to some of the questions asked of me. So they’re part of a ’collection’. I thought they had no connection.
As for the Yatming - it has been with me forever, in fact carried around quite a bit in its heyday, but still sturdy, and in very good shape - amazingly sturdy quality. I wonder sometimes how long the present day models will last - esp the ones made of inferior materials. Pics are buried deep in my albums but here are a dew randoms. The DMC was flapping for attention. More pics in real time (present state) later.

These past few weeks I have been replacing the cereal box trays that hold most of my collection with sturdier corrugated card trays. Each tray holds 21 or 24 cars with dividers to prevent any damage from cars rolling into each other. I've made 24 so far, and will probably need a dozen more.

Now for another photo dump:

1) The Captain Scarlet car with too many licenses to list.

5) The Lledo Bluebird from a breakfast cereal promotion.

I don’t usually go for Superhero cars -though I have a few, but this looks so retro it grabs. Need we talk about that damn WV Bus? What a gem . . . restore and preserve.
As for the cardboard trays I use - the nice thing about this is they can be stacked quite high, don’t take too much footprint, and make the loose cars very easy to take out and view. As you may have noticed from my pics - I tend to throw them together in ’related’ clumps - for instance all convertibles in one, or all muscle cars in one.

Im just starting out collecting after reading this thread, can someone give a brother a few tips?

Bolded mine (for emphasis). Findog - What made you happy? Do you want to mod them? Just own a few from car games you’ve played? Buy and sell? Get into the fun of ’finding’ THs and rare cars and trading, and selling? Just want to collect only Lambos or Fort GTs or 510s? Or you just want to photograph them and let your creativity run riot? You just love muscle cars.
One of the reasons I collect (you should read the WHOLE thread if you want to spend serious time in here) among many other reasons discussed before, is that I like to have a car from a game I’m playing - TDU, NFS, GT series, whatever - and I can’t wait to get home to play that car in virtual reality for hours, after having that car in my pocket, or beside me on the seat as I drive, or just at the worksite - where everybody there had then wanted to take it off me, stop working, and play with it!
(’Gimme dat Aventador back you goons!)
Figure out what grabs you - then start small - depending on your budget and time - and pick out the tips that Vspec and a6m5 detailed that’ll help you.
Also - get a camera and an account at an image hosting site. helps to win medals.:)

Lookie what I did:

:D

LOL! RACECAR - I do that too - all the time. What is that game? Looks cool.

Haha you guessed right, I is here. Slowly getting back into it. Though, I think I'll be in the customizing thread most of the time.

I knew you’d be happy about that - remember when you showed us that army truck with star - I showed you it’s ’mate’ - we were discussing modding all the time, and whining for a thread specific for it, and yeah, R1600 has taken it upon himself, and doing a darn good job, too. I’m still waiting for Cano to bring back some of those older mods he did, though.

The hate will diminish with pics.

The tension builds.:nervous:

Those Skylines & Silhouettes are straight out of my childhood. Very nostalgic stuff for me. 👍
I feel the same pain, a6m5. This is torture.

Again also: anyone notice the huge jump in detail with 2011 series hotwheels? the overall quality in paint and "correctly" placed tampos, i myself: purchased about 6 ken mary skylines and 4 rx7..

Yes. I’ve mentioned it before. The quality and tampos on the whole are getting to be better quality. In fact I like the overall quality of MBs over HWs, yet there is the odd HW that truly shows quality - esp when you go premium. But poorly made HWs are also common because they make so many.

Silence about my toy store,

The tension keeps building. Not good.:scared:

I think Maisto's are great for the money. Very simple looking and easy to customize. The VW's and Porsche's they make are pretty good.

Yes I agree. I have a fair collection of Mastos - remember the ones I posted around a year ago - they were the Premium level 1:64’s. rubber tyres, screwed in bases, detailed and painted interiors; very nice cars for the money.

I've been looking for the 512M, so I was happy about that. Vintage Racing were $2.99, I think the scalpers & hogs just take every single 510, and touch nothing else. I want one more!

Which 510 are you looking for a6m5? Maybe I can help you out. I got the 512LM a while back. Isn’t the quality amazing? Yup, movable parts. Open it!
Vintage Racing at $2.99 is a steal.

Move over A-Team Van.

Yep there's more 2011 than 2012 out there than anything. Today I saw some Genesis, Hakoskuas, COPO Camaros etc..

There everywhere, but I'm not complaining.

Sorry to hear about your laptop dude. :(

My Acer laptop's battery died one me two years ago and I have to use the wire all the time, which sucks mostly. No more on-the-go until I buy another.

But nice pick on that IROC Camaro. Those cars are a beast.

Note to self: buy alot of Maistos for modding.

NEWS FLASH!!!!

Since my parents rented a car for awhile to drive around. I went to several stores today, didn't see the cars I was looking for, but when I went to K-Mart to get some personal items. I ran into some 2012 HW cars:

Nissan 370Z in white

Ford Mustsng 302 Laguna Seca

Datsun Bluebird 510

I didn't have enough to buy the others, so I hid the Z and a few Mustangs and came home with two Datsun Bluebirds 510s.

I'm loving those old school BBs! :D

Which 510 are you looking for a6m5? Maybe I can help you out.
That's OK. If I wanted one badly enough, I could just buy another on eBay. Very nice of you trying to help me though. I appreciate it. :)👍 This is a same pic I posted while back.

I love all 510's by Hot Wheels, but Vintage Racing one's especially nice. I'll eventually get one more, so I can take one out of package. :D

Vintage Racing at $2.99 is a steal.
Yeah, just two more dollars(or $1.49 more on "Garage" 512M) to get Super Treasure-quality car's just fine by me. :D

Edit2: P.S. Loving that DeLorean with working door. 👍

Edit:

I'm loving those old school BBs! :D
Yet, another 510/Bluebird fan. 👍

Exposure's too low. My camera acts funny when I put a flourescent lamp to my cars. The white balance and exposure keep alternating; from low exposure/yellow tint to higher exposure/cyan tint. I end up brightening my images on photoshop and tweaking the colour balance afterwards to get to where I am with photos I post

I just learned about white balance when I retook the photo of the orange Cuda, made the lighting go yellow-to-natural(white light).

What is exposure, and what does it do when it's too low? I don't get it. The car is fully exposed. j/k :P

Unfortunately, today's Walmart hunt turned up with doubles... I do believe the Estoque has a messed up front wheel error. Forgot what kind of error it'd be called but it looks squished. Apologies for the quality, but I had to take the picture quickly before my parents come into the room. :scared:

Exposure is just how much light is being let in, effectively.

White balance and exposure always go to hell when you are shooting indoors with a mostly white background and subject (the box is this case), as typical metering aims to achieve an 18% grey after averaging everything.

You act like you're hiding drugs from them or something.

Unfortunately, it feels that way since they would disapprove of any hobby that requires anything that has to do with money... :indiff: Kind of wish I started the hobby earlier when I had my own car too. Since I have to "sneak" out after work to go buy them using my parents car and hide them with the food I bring home from the restaurant I work at.

If Hot Wheel's all he's hiding from them, they are the luckiest parents ever.

That is all that I'm hiding from them... :P For a high schooler, I'm pretty much a nerd that doesn't go out much. Mainly because most of the people at my school aren't exactly great...

I think I understand the first part, but I'm going to need you to go real slow for me. Metering & 18%, I'm going to need a translation too.

You remember when we used to play Call of Duty, and there will always be that kid with kill/death ratio of something like 0.69? I am that kid when it comes to photography. Draw me a picture. :(

Well, at least the work get you out of the house, eh? I remember when I first got my job, part-time. If you told me today that I get to go to school during the day, then work until 10 in the evening, I might punch you in the face, but when I was still in high school, I thought that was so fun & so cool. What a fool. Just kidding bud, that sounds fantastic. :P
