Recently got some new windows and blinds the past two days and decided to experiment with the new lighting I've gotten with them:
Thoughts?
This picture has a hypnotic quality about it. The composition is fabulous - the eye taken to the red light at two o’clock, then up the pillar and along the dark beam down towards the left to jump into the Aston’s lit interior - a sharp contrast to the mysteriously darkened windows of the Lambo. And then the eye is attracted by the red ’danger’ light on the wall at two o’clock and away we go again.. . .
The detail that’s missing can be solved by a smaller aperture combined with a longer exposure.
^^^ Cool collection you got there photon!
Thanks, Vspec - your enthusiasm is infectious!
What would you like to know? They're from the 4 car Spy Print series released in '97. You're missing the purple Stealth car which is hideous anyway. They came with many variations so one of them could be valuable, but you'd have to research.
I'm more interested in the Yatming in the background. (has 7 on hood)
Thanks for the quick reply, DW, I wish I could respond as quickly to some of the questions asked of me. So they’re part of a ’collection’. I thought they had no connection.
As for the Yatming - it has been with me forever, in fact carried around quite a bit in its heyday, but still sturdy, and in very good shape - amazingly sturdy quality. I wonder sometimes how long the present day models will last - esp the ones made of inferior materials. Pics are buried deep in my albums but here are a dew randoms. The DMC was flapping for attention. More pics in real time (present state) later.
I don’t usually go for Superhero cars -though I have a few, but this looks so retro it grabs. Need we talk about that damn WV Bus? What a gem . . . restore and preserve.
As for the cardboard trays I use - the nice thing about this is they can be stacked quite high, don’t take too much footprint, and make the loose cars very easy to take out and view. As you may have noticed from my pics - I tend to throw them together in ’related’ clumps - for instance all convertibles in one, or all muscle cars in one.
Im just starting out collecting after reading this thread, can someone give a brother a few tips?
Bolded mine (for emphasis).
Findog - What made you happy? Do you want to mod them? Just own a few from car games you’ve played? Buy and sell? Get into the fun of ’finding’ THs and rare cars and trading, and selling? Just want to collect only Lambos or Fort GTs or 510s? Or you just want to photograph them and let your creativity run riot? You just love muscle cars.
One of the reasons I collect (
you should read the WHOLE thread if you want to spend serious time in here) among many other reasons discussed before, is that I like to have a car from a game I’m playing - TDU, NFS, GT series, whatever - and I can’t wait to get home to play that car in virtual reality for hours, after having that car in my pocket, or beside me on the seat as I drive, or just at the worksite - where everybody there had then wanted to take it off me, stop working, and play with it!
(
’Gimme dat Aventador back you goons!)
Figure out what grabs you - then start small - depending on your budget and time - and pick out the tips that Vspec and a6m5 detailed that’ll help you.
Also - get a camera and an account at an image hosting site. helps to win medals.
Lookie what I did:
LOL! RACECAR - I do that too - all the time. What is that game? Looks cool.
Haha you guessed right, I is here. Slowly getting back into it. Though, I think I'll be in the customizing thread most of the time.
I knew you’d be happy about that - remember when you showed us that army truck with star - I showed you it’s ’mate’ - we were discussing modding all the time, and whining for a thread specific for it, and yeah, R1600 has taken it upon himself, and doing a darn good job, too. I’m still waiting for Cano to bring back some of those older mods he did, though.
The hate will diminish with pics.
The tension builds.
Those Skylines & Silhouettes are straight out of my childhood. Very nostalgic stuff for me. 👍
I feel the same pain, a6m5. This is torture.
Again also: anyone notice the huge jump in detail with 2011 series hotwheels? the overall quality in paint and "correctly" placed tampos, i myself: purchased about 6 ken mary skylines and 4 rx7..
Yes. I’ve mentioned it before. The quality and tampos on the whole are getting to be better quality. In fact I like the overall quality of MBs over HWs, yet there is the odd HW that truly shows quality - esp when you go premium. But poorly made HWs are also common because they make so many.
Silence about my toy store,
The tension keeps building. Not good.
I think Maisto's are great for the money. Very simple looking and easy to customize. The VW's and Porsche's they make are pretty good.
Yes I agree. I have a fair collection of Mastos - remember the ones I posted around a year ago - they were the Premium level 1:64’s. rubber tyres, screwed in bases, detailed and painted interiors; very nice cars for the money.
I've been looking for the 512M, so I was happy about that. Vintage Racing were $2.99, I think the scalpers & hogs just take every single 510, and touch nothing else. I want one more!
Which 510 are you looking for a6m5? Maybe I can help you out. I got the 512LM a while back. Isn’t the quality amazing? Yup, movable parts. Open it!
Vintage Racing at $2.99 is a steal.
Move over A-Team Van.
