AOS-
I initially wanted to make my own encasings from scratch but I won't have access to power tools forever, but I wanted to encase them forever, meaning I should be able to see them clearly without having to take them out. The problem is that tupperware or any plastic storage bins or totes aren't as clear as acrylic because they're made of polypropylene or ethylene..
..which I don't do, which is why I'm so baffled as to where they went.
Well, I wish you good luck finding that beautiful Lotus, that car is a true gem right there.

R1600Turbo

Im just starting out collecting after reading this thread, can someone give a brother a few tips?
Here's se of my tips to help you on your journey:
1. Find out what type of cars you will be buying. Are they gonna be real world cars, fantasy cars or both? Most collectors(in their teens and up in age) will be looking at the real world cars more than made up ones, but some still collect these as well.
2. Like R1600 and many others included. Raid the stores like crazy. Check grocery stores, department stores, toy stores and even the malls for any scale car you're looking for.
3. If you want a car opened to mess with, but want another for storage or to modify? Buy more than one car of your choosing.
4. If you don't have enough cash for some cars, try and do your best to stash them. Learn your store(s) traffic that frequent at all times. If crowded, place the cars in random places from prying eyes and if little or none, you can leave them or stash them in a discreet area in the same asile. It takes practice, so try it you'll like it. Or put them on lay-a-way where they are safe.
5. You can find older, rarer and other types of cars in swap meets and/or online sites like eBay. Use the online method as your last resort. You can score alot of jewels in swap meets or other places. You have to look around.
It's a fun hobby to enter and it will be addicting also. But as long if you have fun and don't take it too far, you're good. Enjoy.
