Yeah, what gives? I leave it alone for a few weeks and poof it's gone. I'm going to secure what I have left before more disappear, until I get the cases made... Don't want to lose cars I'm never going to find in stores again.

edit: Ugh I'm so upset; that m250 had some value too!

edjt:

Paid $8 for shipping.

For people who buy off eBay, who are some sellers you buy from? Who do you know have a good record that you've purchased from? I'm aware of the negative feedback rating he's received, but I bought those from toyworldusa-tx.

Try and invest into some of those plastic storage boxes like rubbermaids. Or use some shoeboxes. :)

That's what I do now myself after years of buying them, I lost a lot of my favorite cars and trucks like that. :( Putting them anywhere is a huge risk. I learnt that the hard way. :(

R1600Turbo
This weeks new model sneak peak:

Is that a Holden Torana?!👍

It looks like a '60-'74 GM muscle car, but I not sure if it's a US muscle car or not.

The printing company my parents used to work at worked with whomever owns those packards on the left. Mom gave me one of the cars.

I never even knew that they were Packards. To me they were just cheap and flimsy cars that somebody gave to me.

Cool stuff! I really like the loose cars for obvious reasons, I had never seen the Siku Jeep, awesome! And what brand is that blue bird over there? It's awesome!

EDIT: The VW wagon... is it a Corgi?

The Jeep was from a cereal promotion with Kelloggs Frosties, the LLEDO Bluebird was also from a cereal promotion and the VW is a real oddity to me.
On the base it says both "Lone Star" and "Road-master IMPY super cars". It has metal wheels with plastic tyres and tiny little glass headlamps that appear to be glued in from the front!

RACECAR's camera isn't entirely unusable; he's got bad lighting and he's either zooming too close, his shutter speed is too low or he's got shaky hands and should be using a tripod.

Theres a lot to be said for good light and a steady camera. I prefer to take my pictures with a tripod in the conservatory as the plastic roofing gives a nice diffuse sunlight and the tripod eliminates camera shake. Only if I was incapable of getting a good photo from that setup would I consider splashing out on a new camera.

Loose cars stored in cardboard trays:

And easy to stack:

These past few weeks I have been replacing the cereal box trays that hold most of my collection with sturdier corrugated card trays. Each tray holds 21 or 24 cars with dividers to prevent any damage from cars rolling into each other. I've made 24 so far, and will probably need a dozen more.

Now for another photo dump:

1) The Captain Scarlet car with too many licenses to list.
2) The VW bus that Cano enquired about.
3) The Siku Jeeps and an efsi-holland Land Rover.
4) A Racing Champions '32 Ford Coupe. Note the cracking at the rear and that the rivet has snapped off. I'm very dissapointed with the quality of this one.

5) The Lledo Bluebird from a breakfast cereal promotion.
6) A cheap and cheerful edocar Trabant. The only diecast Trabant I have ever seen.
7) Racing Champions Dragster.
8) Two Racing Champions NASCARs and a cheap (and nasty) DYNA-WHEELS Thunderbird stock car.

9) A Selection of Batman vehicles by ERTL.
10) A Space Shuttle also by ERTL.
11) A Tomica "Australia Post" moped and Mattel RRRumblers "Rip Snorter".
12) A Siku Dump truck and unknown brand (unmarked) road grader.

13) Unknown brand vintage cars. They probably came as a set.
14) Three Siku Trucks.
15) A Siku Harvester.
16) A pair of promotional Lledo vintage vans.

17) A selection of cheap Ferraris.
18) Some cheap classic sportscars.
19) Three cheap Porsches.
20) A cheap Porsche 956 (just look how it sits flat on the road)!
21) A pair of VW Beetle Cabriolets. One quality (Siku) and one garbage (Dynawheels). The difference in quality is startling.

Try and invest into some of those plastic storage boxes like rubbermaids. Or use some shoeboxes.
I initially wanted to make my own encasings from scratch but I won't have access to power tools forever, but I wanted to encase them forever, meaning I should be able to see them clearly without having to take them out. The problem is that tupperware or any plastic storage bins or totes aren't as clear as acrylic because they're made of polypropylene or ethylene..

Putting them anywhere is a huge risk.
..which I don't do, which is why I'm so baffled as to where they went.

Nice collection Car-less! I used to have one of those old green Trabants and for some reason, as a kid I loved it. Wish I could find it again...

After seeing R1600Turbo's Super T-Hunt from Walgreens, which reminded me that there was recently a Walgreens that was built in my town late last year, so I checked it out. :D Unfortunately, there was no hot wheels to be seen. :( I'll go on my HW hunt tomorrow after work though.

HWC website says "Brazilian Chevrolet SS".

Looked it up and it turns out to be the Chevrolet Opala SS.

Wikied it. ;)

Crazy cool pics & collection last page & a half or so, but all kidding aside, RACECAR, I think it's time you upgraded your camera. Lighting is one thing, but the resolution looks really low. What kind of camera are you using?

JVC Everio. Haven't messed with the settings so maybe its time I tried that?

All my pics were taken with the Camera angled on the cabinet and no zooming. The third pic was taken on the tripod and was using zoom.

currently at symphony hearing selections from final fantasy and Nobuo Uematsu is here!!! So are the Cos' dressed up as characters like it comic con  but oh well.

Im just starting out collecting after reading this thread, can someone give a brother a few tips?
I'm no expert collector, so I don't know if you should be listening to me when I say just buy the (real life)cars you like. Personally, I like older cars, especially Japanese cars & muscle cars.

As far as going after the valuable, or most coveted, check all stores frequently. And as Master R1600 taught us, raid the stores early....... but you are in Australia, huh? Well, I'm sure you should still check everywhere, and frequently. :D

Are are are are you using a camcorder?

I didn't even know you could take pictures with one. And yes, it couldn't hurt to experiment with the settings. 👍

CEREAL PROMOTIONS? SIKUS IN CEREAL? :0 Really?
Man I wish cereal promotions over here involved Sikus, got damn. The VW Kombi is way rarer bein' an Impy than a Corgi, a jewell of your collection right there and in pretty decent shape. Also, that Efsi Land Rover is awesome, I had never seen it... it's not like Efsis grow off trees of course, but it's still rare and damn near mint. And the cheap Ferraris and sports cars are Maistos.

Yeah they ruined it with the large rear wheels again. 👎

Well this one doesn't look as bad, since it's kind of an old muscle car-carish-thing. However, I'm sure plenty of you have noticed how much attention HW has put to the brazilian market: VW Brasilia and SP2, the Amazoom, and now this thing. I hope we'll see the Brasil-only Dodge Dart next.

E-bay, bud. You won't believe the deals to be had there. I just blew $50 on like 75 cars, and all of them are well north of $2 in value per piece.

Double screw you, guy. Dang.

You should reposition the camera so your cars aren't capturing the reflection of whatever that blue crud is above it. I think this whole time it was that thing that's been making your photos look crappy.

That blue is reflection of the TV (Made the mistake of taking a picture while the TV was on and their that was).

Also, those are the same pictures I showed before. I just showed them again alongside the care I just painted.

Easy, easy-peasy trick: buy a black bristol board from the dollar store, if you have a table or desk that's up against the wall, then perfect; lay one half the of board on the surface and the other half up against the wall, let the sheet bend on its own, don't crease or curl it too much. Fasten it down like so with tape, sticky-tac or paper weights. Put a car in the center, get a lamp real close to the car (if you don't have any other lighting in the room) and get in there with your camera; try repositioning either yourself, the lamp or the car to get reflections that accentuate the car's form without being too over-exposed. 👍

Well, I wish you good luck finding that beautiful Lotus, that car is a true gem right there. ;)👍

God, I wish it was.

Still a must find for me though.

Mostly, I thought Australia's scale car manufactures made the Toranas. I been looking for alot of Aussie beast for a long time.

Im just starting out collecting after reading this thread, can someone give a brother a few tips?

Here's se of my tips to help you on your journey:

1. Find out what type of cars you will be buying. Are they gonna be real world cars, fantasy cars or both? Most collectors(in their teens and up in age) will be looking at the real world cars more than made up ones, but some still collect these as well.

2. Like R1600 and many others included. Raid the stores like crazy. Check grocery stores, department stores, toy stores and even the malls for any scale car you're looking for.

3. If you want a car opened to mess with, but want another for storage or to modify? Buy more than one car of your choosing.

4. If you don't have enough cash for some cars, try and do your best to stash them. Learn your store(s) traffic that frequent at all times. If crowded, place the cars in random places from prying eyes and if little or none, you can leave them or stash them in a discreet area in the same asile. It takes practice, so try it you'll like it. Or put them on lay-a-way where they are safe.

5. You can find older, rarer and other types of cars in swap meets and/or online sites like eBay. Use the online method as your last resort. You can score alot of jewels in swap meets or other places. You have to look around.

It's a fun hobby to enter and it will be addicting also. But as long if you have fun and don't take it too far, you're good. Enjoy. :)

two red tomica limited R30's including a TURBO 24 valve dohc, 1 tomica limited super skyline, 1 rare tomica limited vintage super skyline silhouette GT(Gold wheels) and i also have another tomica limited vintage(neo) Super silhouette 83'(not pictured, it has black and silver BBS wheels). the gold wheels vintage(non neo) model and 83' both have detachable parts that reveal extremely detailed engine, Astonishing for a 1/64 scale model,Also comes with a highly detailed driver and book.

Also: no parts can be removed or open on the tomica limited super skyline GT, nor can any doors open like on regular tomica limited,Excluding the new nissan sil 80.

And alittle update:

I still have many others to go through but i will only take pictures of the special models because there is just to much to be honest.. and aswell the kyosho, ebbro, aoshima and tamiya boxes(crates?) are still sealed up and unopen..But all are quite heavy.

..It's really just overwhelming. to be honest. :/ I'm stupidly happy but at the same time..exhausted because now my room feels like a japanese minicar shop..

I am so glad my store doesn't carry collectibles, because I would have flipped out right about now if that was true.

Dude the detail is just out of this world, never seen anything like it, on 1/64 scale, little rubber wire peices and sepperate peices in the engine bay, and just extremely detailed.. Glass head lights and tail lights with reflective detailed chrome underneath highly detailed chassis, rubber compound tires(similar to those for tamiya race cars)they feel sticky Alot of different sepperate peices, i swear it looks like a 1/18 scale model.

Nice! Enjoy that paradise before it turns into a parking lot. Oh! Hold on. LOL.

Looking forward to more hard work from you - as in pictures and articles, haha, and good to see you again.

Do I smell Johnny Walker in here? Anybody carrying a shotgun? I would almost swear that M-Power is back, too.

These aren't special, but I don't know the names of them and the cards are long gone. Can someone identify them for me, please?

The yellow one is a '65 Pontiac GTO. I have it in orange from the 2011 street beasts series and I'm sure I've seen a yellow one around recently. The other one I have no idea about, but look on the base. 9 times out of 10 you'll find some helpful info stamped there.

CEREAL PROMOTIONS? SIKUS IN CEREAL? :0 Really?

Remember that most of my collection hasn't seen the light of day in over 10 years. Cereal promotions like this were much more common in the 80s and 90s and I took advantage of quite a few of them where you had to collect tokens from the boxes and mail them off for your free toys.

A quick look on wikipedia and I see that you are right about the Ferraris and Porsches - MC Toy are part of Maisto. That also tells me who made the larger Aston and Lotus from a couple of pages back, and also tells me not to bother looking out for Maisto miniatures.

You're telling me. When I saw those two pictures my first thought was somebody wants the scale models thread and came here by mistake.

Now for some more mail-in promos mostly (if not all) from Kelloggs cereals.

22) A pair of Matchbox Pontiacs also from Kelloggs Frosties.
23) A Corgi truck that I remember sending tokens off for.
24) Some iconic small cars from another mail in promotion.
25) Some Matchbox "connectables" from a mail in promo with Kelloggs Rice Crispies.
26) A selection of Matchbox Thunderbirds promos also from Kelloggs.

Do I smell Johnny Walker in here? Anybody carrying a shotgun? I would almost swear that M-Power is back, too.

Haha you guessed right, I is here. Slowly getting back into it. Though, I think I'll be in the customizing thread most of the time.
