RE: One single 1/64 car

It would be the Auto World 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in plum. My first Auto World model (of many).

I purchased some cars from Tarmac, and I expect the package to arrive this week. However, the tracking number suggests that it's actually gone 14,000 KM in the wrong direction. I don't know why this is the case, but I just hope it gets sent to Australia. Not Austria.

Google search says this is normal:

Inefficient use of resources personally, but that's none of my business.

On the way home:

I picked this one up on the way home tonight at Toys R Us also @MedigoFlame

This young dude was having TRU employee scan stuff & overheard them say that they just got these in today. They were also going on about what
stock they may have in the back, when what's coming in or not, some serious business. Also, my first Majorette(at least of new line). These GT-R's sold out long ago, so maybe someone returned them, they still have more in the back, or maybe they are still getting old cars coming in as new(typical around my neighborhood).
Time to distrust online buying again. I’ve had my doubts, but now they’ve truly solidified.
So the seller apologised and gave you a full refund?
Damn, what a stressful situation.

:P
It depends. It's eBay, right? Shipping policy should've been clearly noted. If seller specified that he doesn't ship to Philippines, then we need to pay more attention to seller policies. If this was something that wasn't explained in the listing, then that's on the noob seller & Kakashi should be frustrated, as such transactions takes commitment from both the seller & the buyer. It would be flaky for the seller to decide after the fact & chooses not to ship somewhere at his convenience.
One negative experience with one seller = all online sellers are going to be a bad time. Yes. That makes a whole ton of sense.
You are right, but was this the first time he was let down by a online transaction? Kakashi didn't spell it out, but it sounded to me like he's had negative experience with these kinds of things before, and even if just one more event, it wouldn't help with someone who's already skeptical. That's just human nature. *shrug*

I get triggered when people switch their mentality to the extreme opposite end of the spectrum over one thing. I can relate in some way. After I got ripped off, twice, I said I was never going to do sell to anyone in Thailand or Spain anymore... or I could instead learn from these mistakes. The crucial mistake I made was that I didn't have a tracking number to fall upon to defend against false claims.

Point being, I think Kakashi can still do online shopping, but shop from more trusted sellers... you may right into a bad seller every now and then, but I'd see that as a lesson learned not to work with that specific seller only.

Edit: But looking at the screenshot, the seller refunded you money at the least. No transaction happened, you walked in, and walked out, nothing lost. Oh well. (Unless I'm missing something extremely life-changing...) Could've been a lot worse if the seller sent you nothing and kept quiet for months.

The seller didn’t indicate which countries he can’t ship to.

And it’s hard to trust people nowadays, and I have learned that the hard way multiple times, when I had transactions with someone who used to be my friend. Even though it wasn’t done via eBay, the fact that he delays our meetups and would sometimes increase the price the moment we meet up (because fuel and parking fees bla bla) cemented my doubts on meeting and transacting with people online.

I totally agree, dude. Flaky sellers hurts online market, but majority of the sellers are anywhere from "fair" to a+++++.
The seller didn’t indicate which countries he can’t ship to.
Then I'm with you. This wan't a lesson for you to learn, it was the seller's. He should have shipped it to the country he didn't want to, he 🤬 up. Anyway, that's my opinion.

I don't think that's something to lose trust in eBay sellers for (as a whole) if you later find out they don't ship to your country (again unless I'm missing something here).

That's like me browsing fs-maniac, go through the shopping cart and then finding out they don't ship to Canada. Oh well, not like I lost anything really. It isn't like I gave the money and they kept it.

cemented my doubts.

Yeah but that was just that ebay seller, and that one "friend"... they don't represent everyone else (and I don't think it's reasonable to think they should).

I completely get the mentality behind this, but this isn't something you'd want to do forever.

I mean.. look at some of us who have shopped online for years........ overall experience has not been negative. Does that still make all these sellers we buy from are not trustworthy? Even though we've purchased from them many times? The logic doesn't seem straight to me. Bad experiences are something you can learn from. Perhaps you can try only shopping from sellers you've heard good word from? I'd think that's a pretty good place to start. I've probably shopped from 5 different popular eBay sellers for Kyoshos in the past and haven't had an experience that made me lose trust in them. Do you want to start there?

I just want this frustration to end. That’s all.

He did the right thing of refunding the bill. It’s just a matter of time when I’ll get it. I don’t have PayPal, and I paid via my Debit card so could it take longer?

Unless there's something about your banking system I'm unaware of, you should be able to set up a Paypal account if you have a bank account to link it to.

I'd never seen evidence of it before, but my city has scalpers. They told me they had hit up a local Tesco beforehand. I wasn't too bothered, except they had hoovered up the 2 Honda City Turbos.

Plus I have a job interview there on Saturday, so I'm not getting involved.

Got my pair of these as well. Casting and decal quality really can't contend with Kyosho and I regret not picking one of those up when they came out. That being said I really like all the liveries on the Spark cars. They're different in the sense that diecast manufacturers tend to choose the most widely known designs to reproduce. I love my Jagermeister and Alitalia cars, but this is cool as well. Especially the gunmetal/orange car looks fantastic. Sadly pictures do not do it justice, especially since my camera really struggles with contrast.

EDIT: Worth mentioning the Spark cars come with an acrylic case.

I've decided I'm going to buy a Jerry can and turn it into a diecast display case. I'll cut out one of the sides and replace it with a plexiglass door, possibly paint the inside and add a latch. Should be a fun project but I don't know how soon I'll be starting on it. Most likely springtime.

Nothing that Photoshop/GIMP can't help ya with.

If the detail isn't there I can't magically make it appear sadly.
I think it's not contrast but just black/dark colours in general. I've tried a black background many times with this camera and it always looks terrible. Colours bleed over into the black and everything generally crashes and burns.

It's worth mentioning my lighting isn't all that great though.

Do you mean to say your camera tries to compensate low lighting by increasing the value (or "brightness") of the blacks? How well does it work if the whole place was brightly lit?

The TLV user-installed pieces strike again. In a new twist, I had a car arrive all the way from JapanBooster without them. Such a wonderful feature.

Found a lot of nice cars last week and I'm sharing two of those here. Hot Wheels Civic and a bus. Love the light detail on the Civic and the Redlines on the bus.

Posted this in the Recent Purchases thread, but thought I should post it in this thread as well. Here is my latest model car purchase, approximately 4 months after the last purchase:

This only costed me 11 USD, which I think is worth a purchase, considering the fact that the Ferrari F2003 I bought last time costed 15 USD. But then the Ferrari is a championship-winning one, so maybe that’s where the extra cost was justified. Or maybe it’s just Daboxtoys overcharging as usual. :P

Anyway, the model is a fine looking one, although I’d have preferred it to come with side mirrors and actually indented sidepod air intakes, instead of slightly indented ones.

I also spotted a 1/64 Schulze Motorsport Nissan GT-R GT3 (the one that came with GT Sport packaging), which looks pretty detailed. But seeing its price tag (21 USD) and the fact that it was made by Tarmac deterred me from buying it. The fact that the tyres’ profile seemed too high and some of the fog headlamps are decals didn’t help either.

Only 1 of the 3 stores I frequent is closing, so that's good news I guess. So now I'm down to 2 and only one of them has a huge Greenlight/M2/Auto World section and it's the furthest one away.

Why does this model look so satisfying? I really want to buy one now...

Regarding my purchase from Tarmac Works: I ordered my cars on the 10th of January and it's now the 25th. That's over the estimated shipping time of 7-14 days, and I'm very pissed off at how they've been handled. Nothing else I've purchased from Hong Kong, Japan or China has taken this long to arrive at my house. Heck, I've purchased stuff from the UK and Germany and they've come within two weeks. I fear that something has gone wrong with the shipping process and I've lost my package. This has happened before when I purchased two model planes, and the seller sent two more - which came in about 10 days. I don't think Tarmac will be kind if this was actually the case.

Better late than never:

All tampos looks really good. Lucky!
@a6m5. A-Team van is coming, you need it! Reckon you'll actually be able to find one in the wild?
I hope so. If under $9 online, I might still get it.
Also, I kinda want this, purely because of the blister card.
These old American police cars used to be my favs, and I might get this one, too......

Trying to save you from pain.... Japan Booster will take care of you though, right? Which car was it?

Wasn't this Civic originally a 2-pack?

Is this Kyosho? Looks really nice. 👍
List of TRU stores that are closing for those that need it. One of my two local stores is on the list but it's the one that I never go to.

I couldn't believe how some states had so damn many TRUs! I have two near Portland(Oregon) area, but luckily, they are both staying put. 👍
