OTHER Hotwheels and Matchbox
From this moment forward, here is the coolest Matchbox I have ever scene and it isn't close!

I've always wanted that red Vette ragtop with red wheels. Also, that Matchbox Sunagon is indeed awesome. I found the civil ambulance version some years ago in a flea market for $2, was so happy to take it with me. Nice grabs, the Sto & Go set for $3 is a mad-ass steal.

Found a bunch of old VW Hotwheels and Matchbox in a box my dad was going through last night. (lots of Baja Bugs like pictured above) I think he's getting stuff ready for a yard sale so will have to snag them from him.

Pics!

P.S. You guys don't read very good. I didn't say girl collector(sounds like myth to me j/k), I was talking about my local grocery store cashier!

Let us immerse in TEH FANTASY!!!

Just got back... Skated down to Future Shop to grab a $20 PSN card, and stopped by 2 thrift stores and picked up these 2 random bag of cars for $8....

There's 2 '94 MC 12, a F40 with no trunk lid, '89 Range Rover, some tractor with shot front axle, Matchbox Izusu Amigo, noname XJ-S, and the rest I don't know what they are.

Awesome story, on my way back it started to rain a bit. In the last 2 minutes I was skating through hail about the size of road salt.

Maybe tonight. Have to sort them out first.

Edit: Was just looking at photos of the Boulevard Fiero and noticed that it has a black stripe on the sides. I'm fairly certain that mine does not. Will have to confirm tonight. :odd:

I take it you don't have the 2012 one then?

What about the WRC then? If so, which one do you have? I might actually want to buy them off you.

I have the rather ugly Thrill Racers Volcano one in the brownish color. :indiff: It's currently loose, but the AM One-77 is still in the package.

Edit: I'll throw in my loose silver FF as well, the color just isn't doing to well for me. :yuck:

Just finished adding links to photos for all the cars on my list. A couple are still missing as they are variations or errors that I couldn't find photos for (obviously) so I will try and snap some this week and update it.

Still adding cars too. Think there are still around 50-60 cars to add not including the loose stuff.

Ho my god, that F40 I picked up was the very first F40 ever released..... foolish owner dismembers the trunk lid and throws it away :grumpy:

No sight of a BMW Z4 at my local wal-mart. I know it might not be out yet, but I still keeping my eye out.

Went out to Walmart, still NOTHING new! :grumpy: They restocked the pegs, but mostly old stuff, which was rather depressing. However, I did buy my first new JL, even though it's for a friend. Either that or I could be selfish and keep it for myself... :sly: I actually owe him for helping me out during elementary years when he'd give me some of his diecast for free. He mainly gave me his import car diecasts, so now I'm providing him with American muscle diecasts. I also bought myself a 1:24 scale Jada, that I'll post in the other thread.

I'll be honest, my Super Walmart is terrible... It's not really the employees or anything, but the fact that they have such few employees around 8-9PM is pretty bad. Only three registers open tonight and there were several customers that were pretty much stuck in line. Mainly stuck behind the hoarders that buy so many things... :ouch: It's also bad at restocking...

No pics yet, will post tomorrow. Really wish my Walmart will FINALLY get the new models... :( They've done nothing but fill the pegs and dumb bin up with the same old stuff...

I would go at 10-11pm. Might get a chance to go through some fresh boxes if they're sitting out on a pallet. 👍

That's the best time to get the good stuff. I might do that next payday.

I'd like to note that not every store stocks at the same time... it's really whenever the merchandisers who do the toys department are working, but I do understand where this guy up here is getting at. :P

11PM is the normal closing time for the store here... And I'm sure my parents would rather not have me driving out at 10PM...for some reason. >_< I am going to have an interview for a new job tomorrow, so hoping I'll get it. It'll definitely pay much more than my minimum wage at the pizza restaurant and it's far enough that my parents say I will need my own car! Haven't had a car since my Subaru was sold off for scrap about two months ago. :(

It's so hit & miss though. I think I've done maybe three Walmart runs? All around or after midnight. There are six Walmart stores in the vicinity, and I'd hit five of them. Two of those three times, just one store had untouched, or nearly untouched stock. Rest of the stores all had plenty on the pegs, or in the dump bins, but mostly same old, same old.

Now, if I could visit just one Walmart, I'd be bummed, too. This one store could go through weeks of same old hot wheels!

P.S. While Walmart was my go-to store, I think it would be to your advantage to visit as many places as you can. Hot cars don't sit around too long. Collectors should look from the small drugstore to mega stores like Walmart, and everything in between.

Edit: In my area, they are all 24-hours, except for one.

Local Walgreen's, Hannaford/Shaw's (local grocery stores), or any other smallish shop. The Family Dollar hasn't restocked in ages with just four 2011 models laying on a shelf. Most other large stores like other Walmarts are just too far for me to do my run after work (to not make my parents suspicious). I mainly spend about 1 hour 30 minutes on a run on average probably after work if I'm lucky enough to get out early. Which I usually am, but it's not enough to run out to other towns/cities to go through their stores. Maybe one day... :indiff:

Location also helps. The Walmart in Toronto got a whole bunch of new stuff before any store in Mississauga got any. I'm willing to guess that's partially because it's attached to a mall making that retailer particularly more populated, and partially because the people there actually buy the cars. If a store has no customers buying their current stock, how can they bring in new stock? They can't, probably. Even if they took out the old cars and put in the new, what are they going to do with the old stock? Walmart just recently upped their prices back to the usual $1.33 here... I take it they're done getting rid of the majority of older cars.. Toys R Us hasn't been showing too many new things either, but it doesn't help that their prices couldn't compete with Walmart's for the past 4 months or so.

Toys R Us and Dollar Tree have been my go-to places for 2011 models that I've missed out on. And Toys R Us still carries several old models like the Speed Machines, Ferrari Racer, and Hot Wheels Garage. (Even though for SM it's just Panozs, FR is just Daytonas in the ugly blue/yellow, and HW Garage is just 70's Monte Carlos left) Family Dollar is the most expensive here at $1.25 while Toys R Us is 2nd with $1.09. And finally Target....is almost never restocked. Pegs are almost always bare there.

Currently waiting for the HW Ferrari 5-Pack to appear at Walmart, since it's cheaper there. They're $4.97 at Walmart and $5.49 at Toys R Us. :ouch:

Not sure in your area, but everywhere I have ever lived merchandisers work graveyard shift at stores that are open 24 hours. Sure regular workers during the day will stock shelves if they notice something that needs it, but all pallets are put out late at night and the shelves are stocked over night.

Walmarts here are 24/7 with the exception of one, the one that's closest to me at that.

They're $4.97 at Walmart and $5.49 at Toys R Us. :ouch:

WHATTTTTT?! *insert surprised look*

They're at LEAST $8 here. I have probably 3 different Ferrari-5's too.

Are you guys kidding me?? $4.97? $5.49? At least $8?

Who the hell is making these prices? Recent car I bought from my Wal-Mart is just 88 Cents.

Jeez, $8!? I've only got the Ferrari 5-Pack from 2009:

I remember my cousin got me this as a birthday present back in 2009, when I thought collecting toys would be looked down upon a LOT. So I opened it, felt rather embarrassed and stuck them in the glass cabinet with my Maisto Assembly Line Ferrari's. (Never touched them ever since I opened them, until I started collecting them all over again this year!) Really want to get the current one since it has an F430 Challenge. I'm a bit of an F430 fan. :P

I picked up something while shopping today:

I've seen it at this same store like three times now, and while I have this near-fetish with Mopar hot wheels, I've resisted, because I already have one that came with the Greenlight diorama.

I was like, screw it, might as well just get it. Here's the interesting(at least to me) side-by-side of Vintage Hot Wheels vs Greenlight:

"Vintage" is nice, but Greenlight pwns in the details.

They had bunch of "Garage" models I've never seen before, including T-Bucket, which I was going to buy before I saw the Challenger again. Only store that still has the old-stock Vintage series in my area.
