I wouldn't really see that as an error, no.

Bringing the subject up about errors again. Am i right in thinking that's the second tampo slide Porsche Boxster you've found? (you knew that ? was coming )
And if so, it just confirms my theory that error cars aren't all that rare really...
Also looked into how HW does their tampos, and it was exactly how i thought they were applied, they're done by pad printer, and having used pad printers in the past... it's not all that unusual for the jig to slip (when run automatically and going with the machine unchecked for say.. 5mins, it could easily result in over 300 tampo errors, those things are fast).
Other errors (non tampo) i appreciate can be another kettle of fish though.

Anyway, i'm probably coming across a bit trollish to most folk i guess :D... I am actually jealous of your passion and determination for collecting, can't believe how many stores you visit in your quest to build your ultimate collection. And to that i take my hat off to ya. 👍

[EDIT]

I am actually just green of all you collectors in America... with all your special editions and what-not.

People are collecting mistakes?

What is the world coming to?

(Happy, a6m5?)

Now if only someone would post a pic of a flamingo-pink RLBB.. . .

Or a certain blue Dodger. ;)

Okay, then, since you were the first to welcome me to this thread, I shall follow your hopefully sage advice and throw a non-supermarket item into the battlefield.
I was saying that you are stirring the pot, not telling you to, you goober. Also, I don't care about errors, but I am down with people collecting them. I guess it's a lot like the debate about opening packages.
I concur. It's really cool, but really scratched up. Especially for the price.

I was saying that you are stirring the pot, not telling you to, you goober.

Oh! was I? okay . . . I just saw a lot of steam, and there was bubbling, and flames licking around the pot, and . . .alright then.
Seriously though - errors are cool (I have just one - a fish n' chipped that has the 'glass' in backwards. Pics posted a while back)
Not as cool as MPowers Infinitys.

Mistakes are not. I worked in a factory once as a printer - the firm (too well-known so I shall leave it nameless) burned and screen-printed CDs and DVDs. As At1ness says, a machine-minder has only to turn their back, and several hundred 'errors' can slip away unnoticed, blistered, boxed, and shipped.
Tampo errors to me are mistakes - bad craftsmanship, mediocre quality control, sub-standard materials, etc. Sometimes I have to sort through dozens of tampo errors on the same car on the pegs, till I find one with some sort of acceptable registration. Or else it's sent to Harry's customisation shop. (Where nothing gets done.)
Even wheel errors are getting more and more common - as if the machinists really don't care, or the cars are being made in some sweat-shop. The error pricing on places like eBay is somthing like playing the stock market; error-collectors create the market for themselves.
Having said that - I'm not going to part with my one and only error. ;)
But I'm hoping that HW quality will continue to improve - not only on the top-end cars (amongst which one would rarely find errors, I would think) but also on the cheapie - 'kidstuff' mainlines.

As for the open 'package' debate . . . I collect to model environments, customise, and race. So my packages get opened.
Except the ones I buy to keep in packages.:dopey:

Oh! And talking about modelling environments - yes, thank you, (and Spacegoat, too) for the interest - I am doing my best to complete some of the courses and take more photos. Here's a mockup (some constructions are 'prototypes' and the structures may be replaced with permanent structures of higher quality material and more finished craftsmanship.)
I have taken several step-by-step pictures and will soon post all the how-tos and so on in the modelling thread.
I like to think this thread is where we discuss collecting - basically throw our collections on the kitchen table and talk rarity, and errors, and quality, and storage, maintenance, sales locations, and prices, and who has what, and conventions, and latest news and some trading back and forth, etc.
That's a lot of stuff to cram into one thread - hence the separate thread for customising.

Here's the link to the modelling and photography thread:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=249319

I'm looking forward to you guys showing off your photographic and modelling skills in there.

Boy that's not too shabby for a mock-up model! Cano's photo in this photography thread is....... "PRO" 👍👍 I'll see if I can come up with anything. I suck though. Might as well use a cell phone camera. :P
No one likes my cars?
I did like the cars, I've bought some of those cars myself. Probably nobody went gah-gah over it, because the cars' been out for weeks, and it's been posted so many times. :dopey:

But we all know who's right........ j/k

Actually one of the nicest shots in there - Foyt's #4 Mustang was shot with an iPhone. Its all about perspective - for instance there were already some shots in this thread (that are now buried) that were quite 'artistic' (and not our usual kitchen table/computer desk/left on the floor shots) For instance Frogman's shot of the Porsche (IIRC) with a 'for sale' sign, some of VSpec's shots look like cars at a dealership, RACECAR's shots that looked like an underground garage, SVX's outdoor shots, etc . . . are you getting what I'm getting at? :)
Doesn't matter too much about the professionalism of the photography, and even the quality of modelling - we are here to learn as we go along - learn, and of course, have fun.

Cheers - been nice exchanging thoughts 👍
Harry.

Stopped by Walmart today. They finally updated Matchbox, but I got what I wanted already at Target. Mainline HWs were not updated and no dump bin with P-case cars. :grumpy: However, they did update the boulevards...finally! And got myself a Porsche 914-6. Apologies for the lighting...

You are so awesome....... as awesome as me at quit collecting Hot Wheel cars. :P

Look on the bright side of your Walmart not having the new cars, it also means that you haven't missed out on the coveted cars yet. You know they go within 24 hours of being on the floor. Scalpers.

Harry.

Excellent post once again Harry!

So A6, just think on how you want to do your photos and post them up whenever you can. If you want to bring out the cars with a theme (i.e. a garage, track, streets, dealership) or theme setting around a certain type of car(s) (i.e. for tuners a "Fast and Furious" street race meet or muscle cars a drag race scene.)

However you design it or just take a pic with a lighting detail showing the shadows or however you do it. It up to you how you want to build it on. :)

No more updates from me for a while. My netbook just died. :(

Dang, that stinks dude :(.

My iPod touch started to act "wired" two days ago and I had to restart everything and now I'm fixing my playlist, pictures of hot girls, cars and the sites I visit on Safari. :ouch:

I hope you can get a new PC or Mac soon.

The tomica Z34 came with some scenery (part of a sidewalk, a streetlamp, a Railroad crossing sign (idk why it wasn't a stop sign), and part of a guardrail) which makes a very japanese scene with Mad Manga. Z34 with and without top.

404028_4573606505312_1440477607_n.jpg

Picked up a couple today. :D my wife bought me the Z34 and evo X. picked up a redline one-77, but i opened it once i realized the redline tampos were HORRENDOUSLY off center. (failed to get a picture of it. >.> ) Also wanted to know the worth of the year of the Dragon car... it's pretty ugly, but i thought it'd be pretty cool to have.

Please people.. Stop showing pics of boulevard cars, especially the VW/Porsche 914 and the CRX (already mentioned this about the CRX), as i am consumed with jealousy.

Cool Tomi 370Z convertible OtakuTaikun, 👍
I noticed it a while ago whilst browsing HobbyLinkJapan, love that it comes with a removable roof.

@ Sonygamer.
Love that Express Lane, first time iv'e ever seen it, must see whether i can try and find one, it would complement the Radio Flyer and Hot Tub: (can't remember the exact name for it), that i already have. 👍

Great race track model photonrider. 👍
Iv'e played around with the idea of making a diorama kinda thing before... Problem is, the company that have the contract to do the construction, also run 'Daz's customising shop'... (terrible workshop), sounds like you're experiencing the same trouble at 'Harry's'... Do you know?, they've had my Mini and Datsun 240Z for months now.. paid them upfront for paint etc, and they still haven't finished the custom job that i wanted them to do. I chase them up regularly,

but they don't return my calls...

Check that out.👍
Yea I know! Here's my other one!

I actually have several of them Benz in yellow just like what was posted earlier, and no I didn't get the Red Bird, the Monster Dairy Delivery, and the Rodzilla from a flea market, I got it at Wal Mart in what one of ya'll called "The Dump Bin of Death. The Rodzilla is in a one-car series called "Year of the Dragon", seems valuable if you ask me.:sly:

Yea it certainly would, and yea it is called a Hot Tub, I have both of those! I got the Express Lane from one of my local toy stores, it carries a lot of vehicles from the late 90's and early 2000's, good luck finding it because it is fairly old and well Wal Mart doesn't carry ones that old, however on rare occasions I do find some really old ones at Wal Mart at times.:sly:

Tell me about it . . . I'm so jelly that.. . . Urgh.

I hate this thread.

Ok, I'm kidding. (added for newcomers who may actually believe me.)

Some awesome picks recently, but, yes, Cano, DW, I'm missing the older cars. TG for $miglo and 'Ben. ;)

Patience. The upload, if tracking numbers are correct, is set for Thursday. Roughly 150 cars forthcoming. All from blue/white card era and earlier.

Finally got both of my "Delivery" Custom '62 Chevy, in blue & red.

I absolutely adore it! 👍

Expect something really simple. I mean it. :dopey:

I have the yellow, with some hideous racing scheme tampos. Yeah, yours look MUCH better. Also like the M1, too.

PREPARE THE SCROLL WHEEL!

Chase Redlines are coming!

BTW - anyone here have anything from the Monster Jam Monster Duo Series? And which one? Pics if possible, please, thanks.

Same here. Couple that I did check out looked nice.

As for the Super Beetle & the Ferrari, I don't care for either one, but the Super Beetle is a Super Treasure Hunt. Is there such thing as a Super TH people don't want? :D

P.S. I forgot to give my props to Ben for posting the Custom '62 Chevy in the first place. You really come through sometimes! :embarrassed:
