I was saying that you are stirring the pot, not telling you to, you goober.
Oh! was I? okay . . . I just saw a lot of steam, and there was bubbling, and flames licking around the pot, and . . .alright then.
Seriously though - errors are cool (I have just one - a fish n' chipped that has the 'glass' in backwards. Pics posted a while back)
Not as cool as MPowers Infinitys.
Mistakes are not. I worked in a factory once as a printer - the firm (too well-known so I shall leave it nameless) burned and screen-printed CDs and DVDs. As At1ness says, a machine-minder has only to turn their back, and several hundred 'errors' can slip away unnoticed, blistered, boxed, and shipped.
Tampo errors to me are mistakes - bad craftsmanship, mediocre quality control, sub-standard materials, etc. Sometimes I have to sort through dozens of tampo errors on the same car on the pegs, till I find one with some sort of acceptable registration. Or else it's sent to Harry's customisation shop. (Where nothing gets done.
)
Even wheel errors are getting more and more common - as if the machinists really don't care, or the cars are being made in some sweat-shop. The error pricing on places like eBay is somthing like playing the stock market; error-collectors create the market for themselves.
Having said that - I'm not going to part with my one and only error.
But I'm hoping that HW quality will continue to improve - not only on the top-end cars (amongst which one would rarely find errors, I would think) but also on the cheapie - 'kidstuff' mainlines.
As for the open 'package' debate . . . I collect to model environments, customise, and race. So my packages get opened.
Except the ones I buy to keep in packages.
Oh! And talking about modelling environments - yes, thank you, (and
Spacegoat, too) for the interest - I am doing my best to complete some of the courses and take more photos.
Here's a mockup (some constructions are 'prototypes' and the structures may be replaced with permanent structures of higher quality material and more finished craftsmanship.)
I have taken several step-by-step pictures and will soon post all the how-tos and so on in the modelling thread.
I like to think
this thread is where we discuss
collecting - basically throw our collections on the kitchen table and talk rarity, and errors, and quality, and storage, maintenance, sales locations, and prices, and who has what, and conventions, and latest news and some trading back and forth, etc.
That's a lot of stuff to cram into one thread - hence the separate thread for customising.
Here's the link to the modelling and photography thread:

I'm looking forward to you guys showing off your photographic and modelling skills in there.
