Didn't the earlier one say same thing?

P.S. I forgot to add earlier, cool photo of the chopper Harry. đź‘Ť

It did, it's the same tampo. It's only that no one here pays attention to what you say but me.

Apparently. I didn't remember either.
Question to you Japanese folk - It says 'Hot Wheels' on the car (in Japanese) and must obviously be taken as a brand name - but what does 'Hot Wheels' mean in Japanese?
Stolen Cars?
Burning Circles?
Flaming Axles?
Smoking Rubber?

What do you conceptualise - in Japanese?
To average Japanese people not very familiar with English, their impression of "Hot Wheels" would literally be hot/warm wheels. They would pick them these cars up very carefully.

P.S. I forgot to add earlier, cool photo of the chopper Harry. đź‘Ť

@ Harry.
That pic/diorama shot is epic!, love it, man. đź‘Ť

Thanks. Your enjoyment is my pleasure ;). Lots more on that, the construction, surrounding city, etc, in the Diorama thread soon - have to organise the 'article'
There are several Diorama shots in this thread - long before the Diorama thread was even created - unfortunately those members since seem to have moved on.
However - we'll get to all the details and the nitty-gritty in the appropriate thread as usual. I see the Diorama Thread has been simmering and is ready for a big cook-out soon, maybe this weekend.

Becoming plainly more sadistic with the arrival of the Private Jet.
Keep him at bay, Cano, please! :scared:

Edit: a6m5 . . .a6m5 . . I'm sorry - there are tears of laughter in my eyes now - about fell outta my chair laughing . . Japanese people warily looking at those diecast cars, eyeing the warm wheels, reaching out gingerly, picking them up and then saying - "These bloody wheels are cold."

Are they BMW or rabbits?

Can you do this truck with any car? Where do I send my list?? :D

I literally just held the camera still and added a car in frame and snapped another picture. Those are seven different M3s in that picture, I have that many.

I bought them all for Lamely's custom contest. I have no idea what I'm going to do, but I figured I'd be safe with that many cars no matter what I plan to do. :dopey:

We may have to get reinforcements from the Fink.

Pics, Ahmed! Pics of room with cardboard girl!

Nah, I can easily guarantee Ahmed has more stuff than both Wyvern and I combined, and not only Hot Wheels or 1:64s for that matter.

Yeah, pretty much the same. Thing is Ahmed's collection could very well be bigger than both of us' combined stuff, and with way rarer stuff. His Cipsa collection alone should speak by that.

My collection is only a few thousand pieces. HWC guys and older collectors could well double mine and then some.

What we're spinning in circles about is not only the weird and unusual pick-ups you do (whatever quantity you have) but the serendipitious way you happen to be synchronistically right there when they materialise. And the incredible bargain basement prices you pay.

Not fair.

Witchcraft being used. We need a stake in this.

Comparison against a Kyosho:

Overall, it's a decent casting. I am wishing a TL version of this to come out, with side mirrors and correct wheels.

I must say..... Kyosho pwnd Tomica preeeety hard right there.

Don't tell them bloody! We won't get that either. "Hayaku, kyukyusha-o!"(quick! ambulance!)
It's all right, apparently a6 doesn't pay attention to what he says either. :P
Huh? What?

Messaged the eBay seller again on the 370Z that is still missing. Last date of arrival was today and I still don't have it, and he has yet to message me back. I basically told him this time he has until Saturday to message me back or I'll be reporting him and posting negative feedback. His feedback score is over 400 and 100% so I'm hoping this is just a miscommunication or something. The car he "relisted" sold for 99 cents.

It's okay a6, you're not old, you're "time experienced." :P
Do we need to bring up your dementia and my missing arm again?

:lol:đź‘Ť

My store purchases form today. Apologies for the dark pictures, it's late afternoon here and the light's terrible.

I recently got my hands on the matte red, flamed 62 Chevy pick up. Man it looks AWESOME. I need another one to perform some wheel swapping and detailing, because the paint in that thing is exquisite.

Just picked up a 458 Spider like this:

Not the nicest wheels ever but its nice still :D

How many in your collection right now? Do you have the other variations?
And . . . are you going to open this, or is it staying in prison?

Well you guys have been wondering what that one item was i scored on Ebay awhile back.:sly: The one i have been talking about alot here lately....
Well here it is! Let the drooling begin!

The JPL Sourjouner Mars Rover Action Pack!:dopey: I had wanted this set for a long time and i finally got it!:D

As you can see, like said it's a Hot Wheel, it's not a car at all but it is a vehicle, it's a Mars Rover!:dopey:
Also went shopping Saturday and i admit i massively overspent!:scared:

American Graffetti '58 Edsel. Never seen until then, only one was on the pegs and i liked it alot, so i got it. For a painful $4.97.:ouch:

Carry on like this, and I can assure you there will be spit on your boots soon.. . .
From several directions.

 'Gamer - I suspected the surprise was something strongly diorama related - but that one was out of this world.
The Edsel is stunning; nice pick.

I-i-i I was basing that off the two only photos at the time! :scared:

 Me, too, Andy - it was a bait and switch; there was sadly and mayhaps unnoticeably, a dearth of the HW pics in comparo. ;)

Pretty damn cool, Sony. I can see why you were so excited about it. Congrats. đź‘Ť

My latest e-Bay purchase.

Nissan Skyline by VC SL/E, on Flickr

Tomica Limited Nissan Skyline 2000GT-B.

Et, tu, Brute? :grumpy:

Don't tell them bloody! We won't get that either. "Hayaku, kyukyusha-o!"(quick! ambulance!)

 Yes, that was the point; see 'bloody' is colloquial, and the Japanese would not have a direct translation for the concept - so they'd be using the equivalent word (what would that be? Is there a similar word for our English 'damn'?)
So the metaphorical value of 'Hot Wheels' as a term exceeds it's literary meaning and for me (for example) goes way beyond just 'warm wheels' (as opposed to cold).

MBs were sloooooow compared to HWs. When we first started to race HWs against the Huskys and Corgis and Majorettes and MBs, we were blown away by the speed of the HotWheels. These cars were blindingly fast in comparison to the 'dinkys' we had. They had 'hot' wheels. Really. Hot. Wheels. We called them speedwheels, whizzwheels - we hadn't an adjective blazing enough to describe this new speed given to us diecast collectors that actually raced our cars. We had to live with the term 'Hot' Wheels - which actually was quite apt. We just wanted more flames, and fire, and heat, and blazing speeds reflected in the name. But 'Hot' it was - and hot it still is today - and most of the fastest cars in the diecast world today I can bet is . . . the one and only 'Hot' Wheels. It's all about the wheels. ;)
Now if you are not from the same colloquial culture, obviously you are going to look at the brand name in a more literal way, and while the term 'wheels' translates quite nicely, the term 'hot' may not.
Because this 'hot' is the hot you'd apply to a babe, or a car, or a soundtrack. Something so cool that it's totally hot.
What does 'Kyosho' mean anyway? Tamiya?

Huh? What?

What? What?

Some awesome grabs there guys:tup:

And that Mars Rover Action Pack:drool:

Went to a couple of stores today, here's what I grabbed:

Some better pics of the Welly's:

@Sony: Sweet finds there dude. I remember that blue truck was one of my favorites when I was a kid and did your brother have the orange 1500? I did, that was a excellent truck for racing. :D
Thank you Vspec!:) Yea i think he does, however seems like i remember there where several them, can you show me which one your talking about please?
What are the light bulbs? Tunsgten? Halogen? Check your White balance. If its on Auto maybe you want to play around with the Manual settings for different effects. I noticed the pinkish cast on the surface in the center of the pic - right beneath the cars; nice effect that offsets the rest of the background. Why center your models? Is that a style you are developing? Also - work for more detail. Everyone's photography in here (except Cano's - you can't improve on what the maestro does ;) ) has improved a lot - and does so with every new picture that comes in - I'm stunned at how well AOS-, R1600, DW, and a6m5, 'Goat, Zach . . . among many others, are presenting their stuff - it's always a treat to dip into this thread! :)

đź‘Ť
Sorry for the late reply, but the bulbs are incondescent. ;) They are not as bright as the fluroescent ones we had before that caused all those glares and reflections. Like i said earlier, im using my PS Vita camera and it doesn't have all these fancy features you speak off.:indiff: As for the pinkish part, that is actually just the color of the bar reflecting when i took the shot.;) About the centering, yes that is what im trying to do.;) I am working on detail alittle more and one thing i did differently that made these shots turn out better was taking closer shots of the vehicle. As you can see they turned out better than before.
Oh! go to 🤬 hell, Wyvern.

I'm watching you.. . .
That pic is crazy awesome right there!:dopey: How did you pull it off.
@ Sonygamer.
Cool Rover. đź‘Ť Poops on the other version.
Eweeeee, Rovers don't do that! I do agree with you, that Sourjouner Mars Rover kills the Curisousity in detail, especially with the legs, i mean look at the Curiousity and look at the Sourjouner, the Sourjouner doesn't need a boxy clear base like the Curiousity does. Them action packs were always pretty well detailed.đź‘Ť
@Sony: Well, I took my meds, that's why I didn't pass out . But I was amazed with the Mars Rover and the set that comes with it, good find regardless. Got me flustered, but I had some water so I'm perfectly fine.
 Yep i am very happy to have the set because it is so awesome!:D
While at Walmart yesterday, I bought this:

BMW Hoarder!
 'Gamer - I suspected the surprise was something strongly diorama related - but that one was out of this world.
The Edsel is stunning; nice pick.
Yea thats why i knew you would like it.;) That set literally is out of this world. It seems those incondescent bulbs are working to my liking because not even the solar panels on that Mars Rover reflect when i take the picture. Wow to hear you say that about the Edsel....
That really has confidence on high!:D

And that Mars Rover Action Pack:drool:
Yep it's pure awesomeness isn''t it?:D

Wow to hear you say that about the Edsel....

I said 'nice pick'. Not nice pic. :grumpy:
Okay, nice pix, too.. . .

Don't worry about the late reply - it's no problem moving back in time.
Your shots have improved tremendously of course, it's obvious that you are working on it; greater detail, better chroma, nice compositions and so on - but obviously you are hampered by your equipment with seemingly no way to adjust the White Balance, etc.
For instance even an inexpensive digital pocket camera would have self-adjusting White Balance (which will compensate for the different lighting that the tungsten bulbs give off.)
Here's a quick tip: try some outdoor shots in daylight, maybe in the shade, on a table, and work on that backdrop to make it a little more eye-catcing (different colours, textures, etc, to bring out the characteristics of the subjects you are shooting.)
I see that the Rovers are out - so - I'll be looking for your version of the Mars Diorama soon. ;)

That pic is crazy awesome right there!:dopey: How did you pull it off.

Thanks. đź‘Ť All will be discussed soon in The Diorama Thread. Actually very easy - and it's a lot of fun to construct and shoot.

Harry.

Look which mystery cars materialized in front of my very eyes at Vintage Stock this afternoon...

My Veyron sensors are finely tuned! I've now unearthed four at Vintage Stock for .99/piece this month alone!
