Did you guys see this?

Also, I guess this is what will be replacing the Boulevard cars this year? (new wheels too?)

Premium1.jpg

I saw the VW, but not the Belvedere.
The wheels look great on it, but I don't expect those to be final for replacing the Boulevard series. I really like the rim scale though. They're not too small to look overly meaty, but not humongous like PR5s or 10SPs.

Just because they are replacing the Boulevard series, doesn't mean they have to have rubber tires. (although it is disappointing)

Mixed feelings on the wheels. They look like they came off a cheap Maisto or something.

Well, you guys have been wondering what that one item was I scored on eBay a while back.:sly: The one I have been talking about a lot here lately....
Well, here it is! Let the drooling begin!

The JPL Sourjouner Mars Rover Action Pack!:dopey: I had wanted this set for a long time and i finally got it!:D

Here is a shot of the Sourjouner Mars Rover.

Mars Lander on the right and Mars Pathfinder on the left. The Mars Lander is what held the rover in which it came out, this one contains a much smaller scale version of the rover inside.;) The Mars Pathfinder is what carry's the lander as well as what crashes on mars' surface.

Just in case anyone is curious about what's inside the Mars Pathfinder, it's a smaller scale of the lander.;)

As you can see, like said it's a Hot Wheel, it's not a car at all but it is a vehicle, it's a Mars Rover!:dopey:

Also went shopping Saturday and I admit I massively overspent!:scared: But I got some good ones from both Kit Kringle and Wal Mart.:)

Here is what I got from Kit Kringle:

McZachen I think you will like this.;) I got that Shoe Box you like as well as 2 other vehicles from the same series.;)

GMC Motorhome. I think this was a K Mart recolor back when it was released. I saw this one back in 2008 or 2009 at Kit Kringle but wasn't able to get it and it finally showed up again!:)

Another GMC Motorhome. Going to be a custom later.;)

Wal Mart purchases:

American Graffetti '58 Edsel. Never seen it until then, only one was on the pegs and I liked it a lot, so I got it. For a painful $4.97.:ouch:

I don't think that's the case, like what was pointed out earlier, the opening doors. I actually don't think they're that close at all, i can see a clear difference between the rear wheel arch widths, can nobody else see this?

I-i-i I was basing that off the two only photos at the time! :scared:

Nice one Jarrod! Perfect example of opening doors not taking away from the looks of the car. 👍 And Sony, I really like the Mars Rover Action Set. 👍
HW? or Tomica?
I'm gonna say Tomica, but like Andy said, it might be because I don't have the Tomica(though I do have BEAUTIFUL Tomica Limited that can't be beaten!).
@ a6m5.
Wouldn't mind getting my hands on that Tamiya book, though yeah quite pricey. Going to check at my local library, if they haven't got it, i'm going to see whether they can order it in.
:)
Their struggles overseas, recording dimensions, taking pictures of tanks and stuff was quite entertaining. I hope you find it!

It's actually scary how close those two castings are, minus the opening doors.
To me, HW looks bit ballooned & cartoony.

I'm kind of in the middle of your take & Jason's.
While of course I like the opening doors on the Tomica, the creases disrupt the look.
Therefore I go Hot Wheels.
This is true. I also like them, but I've seen them take away from the appearance of the car from time to time.
Hot Wheels!;)
Yeah, you are not a fanboy or anything.
We have Jun Imai to thank for this. 👍
This is exactly what I was thinking, but Kakashi might be onto something, too. It is entirely possible how Jun Imai is being promoted to cater more to the JDM audience, in turn keeping check on Tomica. Not saying it's likely, just that it's possible.

By that logic, if we want to see a certain car, Imai needs to see that Tomica has already made it. If Tomica hasn't made it, we need to tell Tomica to do so!

I've seen pics of that Scirocco before, but I haven't seen it in stores. I was on HWC earlier today and it looks like my stores here are at least 2 months behind on getting the latest things. What was a December 2012 release turned out to be a February release here.

Not. Imai is just a japanese car nut and likes the vinatge car scene. If we would go by that logic, we would not have the Mad Manga, for instance. He´s just an enthusiast with a job that lets him bring his taste in cars to millions of people. For that we should be thankful.

Yeah, the choice of models he's designed support that.

Exactly.
Just like I said, he has been responsible for far more timeless HW designs than just the JDM ones.

As RCKakashi said, JDM has become ever more popular here in the States and I think that Jun feels obligated to not only reflect its increasing popularity in Hot Wheels form, but also try to open up the whole other world of beautiful Japanese cars to the primarily young Hot Wheels consumers.

He's done a lot of stuff outside JDM? I didn't know that. Anybody got a list of what he's done, or have a link to one?

That Galaxie stockcar I posted in the custom thread is one. The designers will usually put their name on the car somewhere. Ditto with the Datsun 510, there's an "Imai" tampo on the rear quarter panel.

This will probably surprise you more than you think.
http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/Jun_Imai
You are right. 👍 To be completely honest, I was not impressed by the casting on most of those, but you can't downplay the great(and I mean 'great') contribution he's made to Hot Wheels line up & community with the introduction of JDM classics he handpicked(I'm assuming he handpicked them). Selection of Kenmeri was MONEY IN THE BANK.

I missed that. I just checked it out & McZ's right. Japanese name has no place on that car. I did like your wheel swap though. 👍

This ended up selling for $9.50 by the way. I had decided I didn't need it long before that though. :scared:

In other news, I bought a 370Z variation off ebay (won the auction for $2.25) and have yet to see a tracking number for it. Estimated delivery time still gives them a couple days for it to show up. I messaged the seller yesterday asking if it shipped as I didn't receive a tracking number. In the mean time, eBay is saying the auction was "relisted".

All I can say is that he better not have ignored the fact I won the auction fair and square, then relisted it. I'll be giving him until Saturday to cough up an explanation if it doesn't show, then I'll be reporting him.

Well, you paid the man, right? I've had a few like that, where they didn't bother with the tracking info. I'm not sure, but maybe if the seller use the "relist" option to list a similar item, it'll come up as item "relisted"?

Of course, it's never a good thing when they don't bother replying to messages from customers. Yeah, let's hope he's got some solid explanation.

P.S. $2.25's just for the car though, right?

+$4.00 shipping. Paid on the 17th, coming from California. Even with the cheapest shipping, it should have been here by now. Like I said, I'm going to wait as the shipping delivery time is estimated the 23rd - 27th, so I figure if I don't have it by Saturday and he doesn't respond to messages, then I'll open a case.

Probably no pictures tonight, but I stopped by Walmart and picked up a JL GMC Typhoon and Jada LoPro Viper SRT-10 coupe. There are some new Jada LoPros out, like a Stingray Corvette in matte black, ZR1 Vette in yellow, Escalade in matte black, Challenger SRT-8 in chrome purple, and a Mustang with a Roush like bodykit?

Likely his computer & car broke down at the same time. Right wyvern?

:P

Just got a few pakages in the mail today. The sikus that Zakyta_4 sent me arrived. Also a carded Rollin Thunder and a couple of thing that most people will get a little jelly over. Pics to come on the weekend.

HW?

or Tomica?

Tough choice.... I'll take both. ;)

Sonygamer455
Actually i realized i did dicuss earlier, like way back when i first came on this thread, me and Jason and Locoman were all talking about it. I forget how long ago it was, but i will get on a PC today and post it.;)

I saw the pics and I have to say.........

Holy 🤬!!!! A older Mars Rover (forgot what year they did this mission)and it's playset too?!

You just hit gold that will make any space lover jelly man, I mean, Curiousity and now this one? I'm really jelly, and I like the others too.

I think I had that Chevy van a long time ago as well.

I see what you mean. They look very similar, except the HW one has that animated look on the fenders a shorter by a few centimeters when compared to the Tomica SA22C.

RCKakashi14
As for me, I'd pick the Tomica.

There's something unique about Tomica. They do all kinds of Japanese cars, from trucks to racing cars. And the Savanna RX-7 Racing casting has been there for decades, and a lot of variations popped out even a TL version.

And do you notice what direction HW is taking? Look at the Hakosuka, 240Z, CR-X, AE86 Trueno, TA22 Celica, SA22C RX-7, Kenmeri, and the 2000GT. Knowing that Tomicas are not as hot in the U.S. as compared to Japan and Southeast Asia, I think Mattel wants to capture the market of those who seek Tomicas that are not available in the U.S. shores. These cars are just among the most sought-after Tomicas in the marketplace. And it might also stem from the fact that Vintage JDMs are rising in popularity in U.S. as well.

I won't be surprised if HW would come up with the Honda S600 and S800...

Yep, I seen how HW been changing since 2009 and including the addition of the lineup, hell, even in the mid 2000s, I witnessed so many different cars in the mainline series that were a fresh take on the brand in a long time collecting Hot Wheels and being a fan of the brand.

If HW keeps this up, maybe we'll see better interior design and semi-premium cars for $1 that will put MB to shame and even more unique cars and trucks from around the world and in different eras.

I'm glad I seeing alot of JDM love along with Aussie and old school Euro love as well. I am even seeing different types of old school US muscle and trucks that I haven't seen before. The brand is changing for the good and I give props to Imai and the others who are pushing the brand to the top with sweet cars and opening doors to younger car collectors and older ones (like ourselves) alike.

R1600Turbo
We have Jun Imai to thank for this. 👍

True. And somehow the Import Tuning scene also. I have seen the 300ZXs, Supras and the RX-7s before, but since the scene, even though it began back in the 90's, I seen the EP3 Type R Civic, Ceilca GTS ZZ model and a few cars like the 24/7 with tuner shop logos and a racing or drifting feel to them, similar to the tuner cars that you will see in magazines or at car shows.

Excluding the retarded ricers and their crappy cars (they ain't REAL JDM enthusiasts, just a bunch of wannabes ) and the other things that make the scene great, but isn't the true meaning to love, learn and feel about JDM (but I love the import models though ...Hmmm.... Alicia Whitten, KT-So, Corissa Furr, Jeri Lee, Dannie Riel.....they're sizzling HOT!!!) But anyway, HW is doing a grand job with cars from old school JDM classics, drift cars the bosozoku cars (Mad Manga), aftermarket and performance parts (AEM S2000) and got to the world of old school Euros who play the part along with the JDM world (BMW 2002ti, E30 M3.)

If HW did a great job with the Muscle Car scene, Drag Racing scene, Trucks and Off-Road scene, I know they will take the Import world by storm and in-depth touch to the world of motorsports (Ceilca and Tacoma Pikes Peak, Drift Charger, V8 Super Falcon) and presenting new cars of the real world ones as 1:64 first (SRT GTS, VW Beetle, GTR R35, C6 Vette.)

Glad I'm a HW fan to the fullest. Since 89 and 90! :)

Jun really is as diverse of a Hot Wheels designer as you can get.

I don't think I even need to mention the great designers of yesteryear, but I think Jun will be considered one of them in the future.

Yes, he will be there with Larry and the legendary designers of the brand real soon.

Thank you Spacegoat!:) This is something that really fuels my imagination, i had wanted this set for a good while and i was finally able to get it.;) Needless to say im happy.:D

And Sony, I really like the Mars Rover Action Set. 👍
Me to, it's just so awesome!

Yeah, you are not a fanboy or anything.
I don't know what you mean by "fanboy", but i am strictly a Hot Wheels only kind of person, all other brands just don't amuse me.

I saw the pics and I have to say.........

Yep is sure did!:D I can see your not passed out right now. I knew you would be crazy for this after seeing the last action pack i got. Jason seems to be a space enthuisiest, I can't believe he hasn't said anything about it yet.

About the Chevy, i don't think i have ever owned one, i have others very similar to it though.

Another jelly inducing upload planned for tonight. You'll be astonished at what I pulled of the pegs at Vintage Stock for $1.

You might want to just post "AAARGHHH go to hell wyvern" right now.

I hope you find it!
Indeed, my library's pretty good sometimes.. recently managed to find a Syd Mead book, i didn't think they would have, along with a book about Hiroshige (artists book about woodblock prints). Both books are quite expensive, so i'm hoping they have, or at least can source the Tamiya book.

@ Sonygamer.
Cool Rover. 👍 Poops on the other version.

@ Harry.
That pic/diorama shot is epic!, love it, man. 👍
