Tough choice.... I'll take both.

Actually i realized i did dicuss earlier, like way back when i first came on this thread, me and Jason and Locoman were all talking about it. I forget how long ago it was, but i will get on a PC today and post it.
I saw the pics and I have to say.........
Holy 🤬!!!! A older Mars Rover (forgot what year they did this mission)and it's playset too?!
You just hit gold that will make any space lover jelly man, I mean, Curiousity and now this one? I'm really jelly, and I like the others too.
I think I had that Chevy van a long time ago as well.

It's actually scary how close those two castings are, minus the opening doors.
I see what you mean. They look very similar, except the HW one has that animated look on the fenders a shorter by a few centimeters when compared to the Tomica SA22C.

As for me, I'd pick the Tomica.
There's something unique about Tomica. They do all kinds of Japanese cars, from trucks to racing cars. And the Savanna RX-7 Racing casting has been there for decades, and a lot of variations popped out even a TL version.
And do you notice what direction HW is taking? Look at the Hakosuka, 240Z, CR-X, AE86 Trueno, TA22 Celica, SA22C RX-7, Kenmeri, and the 2000GT. Knowing that Tomicas are not as hot in the U.S. as compared to Japan and Southeast Asia, I think Mattel wants to capture the market of those who seek Tomicas that are not available in the U.S. shores. These cars are just among the most sought-after Tomicas in the marketplace. And it might also stem from the fact that Vintage JDMs are rising in popularity in U.S. as well.
I won't be surprised if HW would come up with the Honda S600 and S800...
Yep, I seen how HW been changing since 2009 and including the addition of the lineup, hell, even in the mid 2000s, I witnessed so many different cars in the mainline series that were a fresh take on the brand in a long time collecting Hot Wheels and being a fan of the brand.
If HW keeps this up, maybe we'll see better interior design and semi-premium cars for $1 that will put MB to shame and even more unique cars and trucks from around the world and in different eras.
I'm glad I seeing alot of JDM love along with Aussie and old school Euro love as well. I am even seeing different types of old school US muscle and trucks that I haven't seen before. The brand is changing for the good and I give props to Imai and the others who are pushing the brand to the top with sweet cars and opening doors to younger car collectors and older ones (like ourselves) alike.

We have Jun Imai to thank for this. 👍
True. And somehow the Import Tuning scene also. I have seen the 300ZXs, Supras and the RX-7s before, but since the scene, even though it began back in the 90's, I seen the EP3 Type R Civic, Ceilca GTS ZZ model and a few cars like the 24/7 with tuner shop logos and a racing or drifting feel to them, similar to the tuner cars that you will see in magazines or at car shows.
Excluding the retarded ricers and their crappy cars (they ain't REAL JDM enthusiasts, just a bunch of wannabes
![Rolleyes  ](/wp-content/themes/gtp16/images/smilies/rolleyes.svg?v=6)
) and the other things that make the scene great, but isn't the true meaning to love, learn and feel about JDM (but I love the import models though
![Drool  ](/wp-content/themes/gtp16/images/smilies/drool.svg?v=3)
...Hmmm.... Alicia Whitten, KT-So, Corissa Furr, Jeri Lee, Dannie Riel.....they're sizzling HOT!!!
![Drool  ](/wp-content/themes/gtp16/images/smilies/drool.svg?v=3)
) But anyway, HW is doing a grand job with cars from old school JDM classics, drift cars the bosozoku cars (Mad Manga), aftermarket and performance parts (AEM S2000) and got to the world of old school Euros who play the part along with the JDM world (BMW 2002ti, E30 M3.)
If HW did a great job with the Muscle Car scene, Drag Racing scene, Trucks and Off-Road scene, I know they will take the Import world by storm and in-depth touch to the world of motorsports (Ceilca and Tacoma Pikes Peak, Drift Charger, V8 Super Falcon) and presenting new cars of the real world ones as 1:64 first (SRT GTS, VW Beetle, GTR R35, C6 Vette.)
Glad I'm a HW fan to the fullest. Since 89 and 90!

Jun really is as diverse of a Hot Wheels designer as you can get.
I don't think I even need to mention the great designers of yesteryear, but I think Jun will be considered one of them in the future.
Yes, he will be there with Larry and the legendary designers of the brand real soon.
