Mmmmm, very nice. I wonder if that recolor of the R34 is what the ZAMAC version is going to be based off of...or released with rather.

Also, scored some good fantastic ol' blue cards tonight. Those a little later.

Zamac, Ooops..
Still don't understand why it's like that, is it an error of some kind? Surely it was never sold like that.. unfinished.

Some cars are sold with no paint, yes. But they do have a clear coat on them. That Bugatti is not zamac.

I'd at least expect it to follow the normal two-tone pattern. It just looks like they painted the door and some weird Audi R8 panel next to it and the roof.

a 69 Charger Daytona is also listed there. If I remember correctly, the first casting of the Daytona was Final Run'd yers ago, so we will be seeing a new casting of this thing?

Still not excited at all at the new line. And the Scion. Eeww.

Cause you're stuck in the 60's. :P

Not stuck, but needs more old.

At least what old cars have been releaseed have been really cool. I picked up the Custom 38 Cad recently and it's sleeeeek, the Phantastique's spirit is alive and well.

Cano, which Scion & what's wrong with its looks?

P.S.

As usual, I have a story. Absolutely nothing planned for lunch, I decide to kill sometime at nearby department store by myself. I wonder over to the Hot Wheels section, Nostalgia & Racing series are on clearance for markdown + another 40% off. I pick up a handful.

I start walking over to the deli, and I walk right by the hardware section. "Dremel!" I walk into the power tool section, I see $119 case marked "Dremel Set" for $49 in the display window. I can't see the detail, but it says it's a very involved set, and it's like 60% off, so I pick up customer service phone & ask for assistance.

This kid comes over & opens up the glass case for me, he sees the Hot Wheels in my hand and he starts asking me if I'm using this Dremel tool for customizing Hot Wheel cars & if I was, he'd suggest a drill instead.

I look at this Dremel case & it wasn't one of those compact hand tools, but some big thing stripping paint in the picture. I thank him for the tip, I told him I'll look around a bit & that's when I found this cheap brand equivalent for $35, and it even comes with the drill bits.

God, good service I got today, and I look forward to you guys schooling me in the Hot Wheels customizing thread. :D:tup: I guess now I have to procure some screws & brass tubes or something to fabricate axles with?
 Yes, that was the point; see 'bloody' is colloquial, and the Japanese would not have a direct translation for the concept - so they'd be using the equivalent word (what would that be? Is there a similar word for our English 'damn'?)
So the metaphorical value of 'Hot Wheels' as a term exceeds it's literary meaning and for me (for example) goes way beyond just 'warm wheels' (as opposed to cold).

MBs were sloooooow compared to HWs. When we first started to race HWs against the Huskys and Corgis and Majorettes and MBs, we were blown away by the speed of the HotWheels. These cars were blindingly fast in comparison to the 'dinkys' we had. They had 'hot' wheels. Really. Hot. Wheels. We called them speedwheels, whizzwheels - we hadn't an adjective blazing enough to describe this new speed given to us diecast collectors that actually raced our cars. We had to live with the term 'Hot' Wheels - which actually was quite apt. We just wanted more flames, and fire, and heat, and blazing speeds reflected in the name. But 'Hot' it was - and hot it still is today - and most of the fastest cars in the diecast world today I can bet is . . . the one and only 'Hot' Wheels. It's all about the wheels. ;)
Now if you are not from the same colloquial culture, obviously you are going to look at the brand name in a more literal way, and while the term 'wheels' translates quite nicely, the term 'hot' may not.
Because this 'hot' is the hot you'd apply to a babe, or a car, or a soundtrack. Something so cool that it's totally hot.
What does 'Kyosho' mean anyway? Tamiya?
Instead of "Hot", maybe speed, fast, something like that, more literal.

Tamiya is a surname, and with Kyosho, "kyo" implies capital, or often the City of Kyoto & "sho" means merchant.

I didn't now people really raced hot wheel cars. Some of their marketing stuff suggesting how fast they are makes a bit more sense now.
Oh...yes, yes, yes.
I concur. 👍

Thanks Cano-man and oops on the FR-S.

FR-S's cool! Some of us of course already have bought Tomica's Toyota version & I'm sure we are already looking forward not only to the Hot Wheels' release, but hopefully of the Subaru version in the near-future as well! :)

Edit: I bought two Morris Wagon for their wheels, but having taken a close look, I'm not sure if I could take this apart now...... I used to think it's a pretty ugly car, but it's cool!

The thing is, I bought two(well, that's all they had), so I can use two smaller wheels on cars like 510/Bluebird, larger set for SUV or something. I'm now going to try finding a third Morris Wagon at another location so I can keep one intact.

The Morris Wagon is one of the coolest HW Castings ever. I'm doing one right now, just stripped the paint off.

And the Scionyotabaru 86 is ugly as spitting in church. You can't know how much I hate that car.

If you think that car's ugly, spitting in the church, I must try next time I visit one. :dopey:

I can NOT wait for the FR-S! (I would have gotten a Tomica GT-86 if Mattel never brought one of the Toyobaru's here!) And...the Huayra, Supra, NSX concept, and C7. The Aventdor J is nice, but seeing the customs people have made of the Aventador J out of the 2012 New Models Aventador, I doubt it'll stack up to those. Of course...it isn't going to be built with as much attention to detail.

Oh oh oh question:

Is the 2013 Camaro ZL1 with the solid red wheels a variation? Or was it the the transparent wheels?

Oh...yes, yes, yes.

!

More Japanese cars to mod!
Is it possible I'll make my own JDM series?

Oh oh oh question:

Technically both are considered a variation. The clear-red ones are a bit harder to find, but I wouldn't really call either of them rare.

When I first saw those Camaros, they were at Target and were all clear red wheels.
I know that for sure because I specifically remember thinking they were ill fitting for that car and didn't look right.

Edit: Here, take this!

These are the newer cars i.e. not the blue cards.

The Ice Cream truck is a little rarer because it does not say "Fruits and Veggies" under "RASTA" and also because of the black HW logo at the bottom as opposed to a white one directly above in the red stripe.

I bought both Flashsiders because I knew one of them had to be rare.

As you can see, one has the Goodyear lettering on the wheels and the other does not.
It is supposed to have it, and I consequently found no information of this error or variation.

Now for the goods. :D

I'm not going to bother taking you through what is there but instead just the highlights.

I know these Zombots aren't terrible valuable, but they're just too damn cool.

The paint on this thing is just so over the top.
I actually got this for my girlfriend. You know how girls are with sparkly things. :P

Super cool 380 SEL. I looked up the value and I'm scared to open it.

I believe the black wheels make it pretty rare.

This is going right on eBay as I know these later Speed Fleets can bring nice money.

Now for what I think is the catch...er, grab, of the day.

An early all metal Oshkosh Snowplow!
STDC says the the color, wheels, and material make this the most valuable one at $25.
Of course I looked it up on eBay to get its true value and there is only one identical one.
And it's with two other worthless Snowplows for about $15 shipped. If any of you like this thing, I suggest you get it.

This is another apparently rare car as I found no eBay listings for one.

STDC says the UH wheels, tan interior, and grey base make it valuable.

I don't know who's collection this secondhand music, video game, memorabilia/toy store bought, but it seems like they knew their stuff. I plan on going back to buy the rest of the blue cards, several 100%s and various other oddball HW series.

McZac, dude, you REALLY FREAKING SCORED. Several pretty rare cars in that bunch, specially the green Oshkosh, really difficult to find. How much for all?

Also, I recently destroyed one of those Pontiac Rageous for the wheels lol
