Maybe next week if there are more. Already customized one, taking one to work, and keeping another here for me. :sly:

Hey man share. :P:lol:

Ok, I'll wait next week then. And I'll send you the PM later, since I already cleaned out my messages.

Box splitting the Boulevard and Garage was a good idea, except we never got it off the ground. I don't mean to be a pessimist, but this one may even be less likely to fly. You talking about Mix 5, right?

  • ’69 Camaro
  • ’70 Oldsmobile 442 (New tool!)
  • ’76 Chevy Chevette (New tool!)
  • ’81 Ford Fairmont (New retool!)
  • Corvette Funny Car
  • Jeep CJ-7 (New retool!)
  • Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (New die-cast chassis!)
  • Texas Drive 'Em

Not exactly "yossha!" for me.

I agree haha.

Yes, that mix. You guys pay for what you need/want, then I'll just sell the rest.

I'm only now having some time to check out this thread fully in depth as I've finally got a resting day in my vacation trip to do some laundry and, erm, work lol. And by work I mean come check out your grabs. Killer stuff everyone, and I do mean everyone, there hasn't been a single bad purchase in the last few days with the exception of the Tomica Audi A1 (sorry Kakashi, that thing is hideous and with the Tomica wheels it looks even worse), but aside from that, ace stuff everyone 👍

I'm still stuck with the $TH as the grab of the trip. Very sad ):

Just scored myself a white MBX RS200 for $1.50. 🤬 yeah. Nobody bidded on this, that's crazy.

Lost a bunch of other auctions on vintage matchbox models, but I at least won that one and a Siku MK1 Sierra 2.3 Ghia and a Ford XR4i Sierra.

While I appreciate the effort at a split order, the only item I can possibly imagine wanting is the Skyline and I imagine that would be the same with the most of us.

Anyway, here's some more cool recent purchases:

Fast+Fish+%2528yellow-truckin%2529.jpg

both are from Truckin' Transporter sets. I'm crazy.

Latest arrivals that came in them protecto packs. :)

Got time to post up an adjusted loose lot of 140 for $85.

My carded lot of 44 sold for $35 (buy it now). I was lucky there was some dude and his wife looking to buy gifts for their kids. Now to sell the other half of the carded collection.
👍

But... I saw that red Tomica Limited Lamborghini Countach once again.

It costs 30 USD, though.
They've been about that on eBay, too. It's nice, but I'd rather have Kyosho anyway, and it's cheaper.

Datbox added more Skylines, now including the R31 & R32 on top of the blacked out KPGC10 I really want. But quick math says about $12 each for each car after the grand total. No. Thanks.
Anyone want to pitch in with me and get the last assortment of Flying Customs? I can order up the box and we can split it.
After reading AOS's list, I think I may be interested. That's hot.
I agree haha.
Yeah, us Asians, we gotta stick together. It's funny, because Kakashi's Asian, too.
Not a TLV but nearly just as good, :sly:
That in fact was the deal killer for me though. Definitely "yossha", or maybe even "YOSSHA!!!" lol but in comparison to the Vintage line, it just lacks. Unfortunately, standard TL I passed up(was very close to shelling out the bucks), and TLV, way above what I wanted to spend. I think I ended up going for my first TLV purchase instead.

But didn't you say that it was one that you liked? Not too shabby!

This is the first result on google for MBX RS200.

That's a ugly watch, but I don't blame you, it was buck fiddy.

No, I searched some more, found the actual pics, and I think the car looks awesome!

That's the same Hudson though, right? You didn't actually buy two? I like the last two cars there Andy. 👍

Of course I didn't buy two. Any cards I get are photographed on my backdrop. What you saw earlier was from the moment I won the auction and stole the image off eBay. Ja see that "AOS CARDED COLLECTION" pattern? So narcissist. :P

I never paid attention to the "Real Riders" bit. It's actually not. RL wheels never came in rubber tires, no?

Legit stuff better have "Really Real Riders" on it next time.

They kinda do, I'm not 100% sure myself from looking at the thing itself, but it's probably not.

It's likely an old photo, but I thought I'd share it, because "holy 🤬 !"

You know what would be funny? If they put their asses on the line almost risking their employment trying to find the goodies instead of stocking.... only to find nothing valuable.

If the package says real riders, then they are rubber.

Okay! Okay! It's rubber! It's not plastic; it's rubber! Just don't shoot!

My dream, I bet if I went there I found find none of the HW cars on my list, BTW where was that?

Are 2000 first editions good? I have the 1990s Charger concept first edition and a grey 959 with 959 twin turbo written on the sides I got them a few days ago at a hobby shop they were $2 each. I'll post the pics of them later.
Here are the pics

I have a feeling (if it doesn't rain) that I might spend too much money at the meet tonight.

Edit: Anyone else seen this?

hotwheelsrewards.com

Well, a)why does it look like some poorly-designed mobile site? b)it would be a nice promotion if any Wal-Marts around here actually put out, ya know, NEW stuff.

Nice Hornet, I like that one more than the Wal-Mart Boulevard exclusive I have.

It doesn't look THAT old. And what kinda store is that?

That gotta be a Walmart or K-Mart, right? That's the impression I get anyway. It doesn't excite me a whole lot, as it's likely gonna be million cars of ones I don't want, or already have bought.

Found the isuzu amigo today :) was surprised my toys r us updated its stock... i may be going there more often. They had retro entertainment cars; i passed on the 512m and the stock car. They also had the station wagon, but i passed on it. I did also get the world motors civic si

Saw some guy take 2 Acura NSX concepts home.

2.

The only 2 in the shop. They're ultra-rare in my neck of the woods so I immediately went up to him and asked what he's gonna do with the second one. "Sell it" was the answer. I said "I'll buy it" so he told me it would be £10. 10 times what he paid for it.

I told him to lower his price to £3 and we've got a deal. He bumped it up to £13.

In the wise words of Kimi Raikkonen "Somebody should punch him in the face"

I don't know what K-Mart looks like, but if anything, that some other US store OR Target, likely the latter. Look at the price tag. That's not Walmart at all. It's not an ancient photo (i.e. 2013 cards), but I found it on google so it's likely not fresh.

As for the question about First Editions, no First Editions of any year have anything special. Rather, it just means that that's the first colour of that casting ever released. It'll have a small impact if you collect recolours, because "omigod it's the very first release!", but otherwise nothing big value-wise.

There are coincidental castings where their first editions (new models, premieres, etc.) just so happen to be valuable, but being a FE probably had no impact on its value.

legacy, how old was this individual? Middle-aged? Call him a pr___. A kid? Call him gay. If you told told him in a stern tone to reduce his price, then you're partially at fault for his response because you've passed on your emotion of being upset directly to him which- to him does not concern him. First come first served.

Maybe.. just maybe... if you had approached him with a less blunt attitude, he may not have raised his price like that.

Here's the thing about people wanting to hoard and sell. They aren't the people to blame, it's really those who want to pay a lot of money to grab something first. Every time a new case of cars comes around, I see these cars being sold in lots and there are stupid-high bids on it. But because people are willing to pay such high prices, whenever something anticipated to be popular is coming out, people grab as many as they can to try and make a quick buck. That notion in turn also makes the particular casting harder to find since their availability has essentially declined, and that allows sellers mark their prices higher since they can call it a HTF item.

Imagine if people no longer bought newly released castings online until they were at least 4 years old. You'd never run into people like legacyMachine encountered, because people aren't going to wait that long to make a pocket change.

So to describe the big picture in point-form:
  • Seller finds a new casting and buys it.
  • Seller goes home right away and lists it for twice the amount he spent.
  • Consumer want to secure one for themselves so they bid on it.
  • Consumer encounters another consumer who wants the same item, and now the two compete to get it.
  • In the end, one consumer pays a price for the item which he could've got in-store for over 80% less, and that seller made a profit.
  • Profit alone is a sign of success, so obviously seller is now going to continue this practice.
  • Simultaneously, another consumer sees that there are people willing to pay $15 for a single casting. They take note, 3 months later, they get their hands on a casting that's heard to be highly desired. And they become a seller. Go back to the first bullet and repeat the process.

It starts with the consumer who is willing to pay more than the retail price that signifies there is a business to be made. In other words, if you're willing to pay more for a single car, then you are in a way supporting the future of sellers who strive to make a profit.

I myself am guilty, but I am however only spending more on stuff that is discontinued (i.e. old stuff), because obviously you won't find it in stores anymore and because you aren't competing with retailers, said items can be treated as a monopoly. That in theory is the case, save for competing prices with other sellers.

Nice lesson on First Editions Andy. 👍

I took two. I'd have handed it to you though, had I been that scalper. No markup.

Sure, I sometime make money on eBay, but when you see another collector, same store, in need........ do the right thing.

As far as I know, that Civic is the only JDM in the series. I was SO disappointed.

Yep, that sucks. The UK has it's fair share of scalpers, which is made even worse when you consider, we only get mainlines.

Definitely.

It should be (as it is with concert tickets) illegal with toys. Less ridiculous than it sounds.

This'll explain all (note: not me)

This is a guy who literally loves collecting these toys, and was dying to get Soundwave, and he nearly never got the chance due to damned scalpers.

It is true; this guy was just ridiculously money grabbing. I have a feeling he'll be at tomorrow's car boot near where I live. So I'll corner him there and get it for £1.19, as there will be a crowd who'll not want to buy off him if word gets round that he's ripping a 16 year old off :P

Looks like KMart to me.

Depends on variations too. Back when I first started collecting, Mattel liked to do TONS of variations on new releases, especially in 1998 when there were something like 150 First Editions. Color variations, wheels, packaging, etc, etc.

I believe so as well. The derail is ok, really wish they couldve done a more sporty model. The focus looks pretty nice too
