Speaking of...
I saw this in a blister stapled to a Decades F1 card at Walmart yesterday. Really made me angry.

It'll be this color:

I wish it was tad darker. I actually ordered it without knowing that it was spectraflame. Didn't read the description except about the cool tires. Oh, well. Still very cool. Like McZ said though, it would've been nice to see what the actual car looked like, instead of going off mediocre illustration.

I checked the page again, and it's still available! I guess I blew some of my lunch break & gas, but I'm just glad I got them.

Do these things sell out quickly often? I thought about paying the $25 to join the membership, but 1) I don't collect anymore 2) Car they give out is just sad
Send me your Hudson, Shinji. I'll open it for you. :D
I dunno who dat is! :dopey:

RX-7 does look very cool. Perhaps the coolest one so far. 👍

Treasure Hunt. ;)

I'll probably get one at the meet. Went to Target tonight, they had no diecast isle at all. In the middle of their reset. Will go back tomorrow...

Yeah this one is a good deal at $10. I want to get another 240Z to open for my display but not sure I can stomach another $26 with shipping. :ill:

I had preordered that one, but cancelled it. Just wasn't feeling it. If it had some throwback JDM tone to it, I would've been really after it, but that classic Hot Wheels look with green color just didn't do it for me.
Have alot. This is my intro.. Couldnt upload my pictures here:(
I use Photobucket. Then copy & paste "IMG" link from the site in the post here.

Somewhat glitchy, but gets the job done.

I've been wanting one, but I doubt there'll be any left by the time I get home.

I put my order in, I can't believe it didn't sell out.

I have to say, probably in the minority, but I wish HWC/Mattel would just take a month off or more and then catch up and sell cars and ship them when they sell them. The constant backordering is frustrating, and I wish we could see final versions when ordering too, like that Galaxie leak earlier.

And final versions might be more enticing for sales as well. I never had interest in the Torino until I saw the pics of the opened final model, and then I immediately placed an order for it.

On a brighter note, I'm eager to see the packaging on the Gulf cars. Could be really cool.

Seems so. I'm surprised the Datsun was not more popular, then again it was more 'spensive.

Probably because it has RL wheels on it.

Yeah I still don't like them. Come at me. I must be the onry one to openly admit he doesn't like RL wheels.

The reason for the backorders is because they don't produce the cars until AFTER they start the sale. I guess backorders are better to them than making 4,000 cars and only selling half of them...

Almost all their exclusive packaging looks cool to me.

On backorder:

I think we all agree with Dwight. I'm sure they have their reasons, but backorder is generally lame. It should only happen when the product is a crazy hot mover, or if the manufacturing has something like sourcing problems.

Jason's probably on the money. While Hot Wheels brand is crazy popular, HWC probably operate under tighter control & budget. Keep in mind, I'm a total noob in this hobby, but I get the impression that HWC offerings are more like promotional items. "Collectors" operate smoothly considering, but we will see stuff like backorder & item "illustration" instead of the final product, which takes a load off their business.

That's my guess.

Yeah, the packaging across the board is generally pretty great, but the Gulf cars could be extra-great...

Maybe it's me being tired, but I don't get what you're saying. If it's a 4k production run, then it's 4k cars. What would it matter when the ordering takes place if it's a pre-determined number?

I mean, the made-to-order cars obviously have to be backordered, but when they say upfront what the run is, I don't see the point. Unless they're secretly only making 2k models because only 1500 were ordered...

Pretty sure this one's going to get maxed out at 4,000.

Here's my 917, I guess originally from the 100% set. I thought it was going to look just like this, then I discovered that it was Spectraflame. Cool.

Sucks the wait is so long though.

This backorder just seems more like a preorder to me since they haven't even made the damn thing yet.

I used to preorder them anime figurines and when they have a date far into the future, it's a preorder. Backorders are if they got more orders than they have in stock.

I may be wrong but I don't work in inventory.

Got some good cars from Walmart and Miejer, a beige Toyota pickup, and a FRS from Walmart and a green CGT, and a 70s camaro from Miejer. The CGT, FRS, and Camaro I've been looking for a while. I'll post the pics tomorrow.

Can't wait for Snowman's Truck:drool:

Got my delivery today from eBay:)
Couple of Matchbox Falcon's and a Commodore:

This is what I was talking about Space, hope its not too much of a let down:lol:

Also a few store grabs today, was wrapped to find Axel's Nova and another Green Routemaster (might bundle it with my second chase model and bang it on eBay:D)

Went to Target again this morning, hoping they would have the diecast isle back up and running. Huge negative, they were in the process of taking down the action figures, so hopefully by tonight or tomorrow they'll have it back up.

Walmart was also a bust. They're supposed to be getting a P-case dump bin with new Zamacs, but my Walmart has an old dump bin still up that is over flowing and the pegs are stuffed. All M & N case stuff. Not sure I'm going to see that new dump bin for a while...
