1/64 Model Collectors Thread

Picked up the Flying Customs Skyline tonight, the white Furai with chrome Trap5 wheels from the multipacks, and another Nissan Pickup I needed. Also got my orange Miata in the mail. Now broke till next friday.

I was also thinking top left, bottom right, but yeah, with those third-world wheels, I'd go with two Lambos.

Sounds about right, don't it? I worked out the math and the McLaren would probably be the best deal and here's why. The dude had the listing for $40-something for all four, and I offered $28 stating in the message I only wanted to grab two (probably should've tried at three lol). I honestly wasn't proposing a deal seriously, but he responded quick. Guy is doing free shipping, that's a huge plus. It's coming from Greece, which I reckon shipping will be like $12-13. Subtract that from $28. Means I'm paying $15 for 2 Speed Machines.

I was on Amazon.com earlier searching for Speed Machines and found the same Gallardo for $7. If I bought that and the Reventon which goes for about $12 on eBay, that's $19, saving $4 in the process. If I did the OH5 McLaren, I'd be saving like $12... since those crazy Singaporean sellers demand more for phony Speed Machines over the OG counterparts.

To throw yet another twist on it, I grabbed two of the blue McLarens, yes the legit kind, for $10 each. I could've also snatched that Gallardo for $7 (since it was the same seller), but I decided not to since I was spending a lot again, but now I have an opportunity to redeem myself there, and I think I will. After that, I think I'm goingto blacklist the Gallardo LP560s.

Or I can just blacklist it entirely and never bother with it anymore. Hmmmm the thought of cutting off even more cars has never been so tempting in such a short period of time.

Again, the 2009 Colour Shifters and 2011 Water Revealers are the same thing. Be wary if you collect Shelby Cobras.

You know what though, if we didn't have sites that reported releases soon to be out, the frequency of scalped goods would probably plummet since scalpers are just individual net users like us who have to grab source info off the web.

Question: Are Hot Wheels "Dropstars" that comes in blister packs, are they larger? I saw just one seller noting the scale & it was 1/50.

Did grab some stuff yesterday, finally a store got something new in

Black Gasser just may be the coolest of the three so far, though I really like the flat gray. 👍 Red NSX looks nice, too. I need to get both of those!

Look at those price tags.... That is why I never got into Redlines and vintage collectibles. They're expensive and they don't look that pretty to me. Smart move, considering how well I can control my compulsive spendings.

Well I don't blame you for not wanting to pay the expensive prices that most redlines have. Heck your better at controlling your spending than I am. However I do wonder and I am not trying to "feed whatever temptations you may have", but I do wonder, what if you do see a redline for a very small price you like?

that Custom Mustang really screams at me.

I thought that Custom Mustang would get your attention. It has been there since I went to get to the Custom Police Cruiser and that Seasider back in June of 2012, possibly longer. I will try to get a better picture of it next time I go.

They had a 250 word essay contest last week and whoever got the best essay, gets a $100 gift certificate and I didn't know about til it was too late! If I ever win one, that Custom Mustang would be the first one I get along with that Custom Fleetside.

The prices scream too, but those are normal prices for redlines in that condition. Maybe a bit high for the more common ones, but still in check.

That Custom Mustang is $55! I don't even know how much that Fleetside is. Were I live, you ether overpay or underpay, there really isn't much in between, it is ether one extreme or the other. Heck I have never seen an old redline below $15 besides that Vette I mentioned earlier, but I try to make the best of it. The man that runs this Antique Mall will go lower on most vehicles he has if you ask.

Cool place indeed. I read that people around the world come to visit this place often. Unfortunately I don't get to go there often.

a pity they do know what they are selling.

Eh, not always. Take that Neet Streeter, Airport Rescue and those space vehicles for example. I may not be the brightest when it comes to the value of Hot Wheels, but I am sure they are worth more than what I paid for them.

If I saw a redline for a low price, I probably still wouldn't buy it. I've never liked the look of RL wheels. I only made one exception for the Shelby Cobra since it was a casting I wanted to collect as many of. Otherwise, nah.

They certainly are bigger than 1:64.

They are indeed bigger. I have a Dropstars Maybach around somewhere. I try and find the pics of it for you when I get back from my course Im doing today.

Thanks for the info on the Dropstars guys! I'm not going to stray from 1/64 anytime soon, but I did see the Maybach on eBay Ben. Really cool. Range Rover was nice, too!

I actually went out looking for Hot Wheels today, but no C10 or black Gasser. I did find these:





Wolfman VW Bus, I actually found at two locations, but the first two I found at this one store was awesome. It was a hidden stash. I see the Monster cars, I go thru it, but I already know there is no Wolfman, I've been thru it many times.

Since it was buy 1, get 1 half off on all Hot Wheels & Matchbox, I was going thru some interesting cars. When I'm going thru the food brand cars?(Kix, Green Giant, etc.), two 🤬 Wolfman hidden way in the back. I grabbed both out of spite.

I grabbed the last one at my grocery store of all places. Don't freak out, they had bunch more Wolfman left. I grabbed a couple extra to bait eBayers into my liquidation sale part 2. Same thing was planned for the Auto World Olds 442, but that car has amazing detail, so I priced it high, hopefully it'll attract some shoppers, but won't sell.



If it wasn't for the camera, "OLDSMOBILE" and "Car & Driver" are microscopic.



Edit: In my eBay sale, I was auctioning off couple of USS Enterprises? One "battle damaged", one standard. Anybody know why the standard one is way more popular than the battle damaged? I was just curious.

While you found NSXs and Aventadors, I found NSXs and black Gassers... wish we could trade inventory. to answer your question about the Star Trek ship, I guess the eBay monsters aren't familiar about the battle damaged version, or it wasn't hyped up by their favourite blogs they follow.

NSX Concept is so fine in red....... I'm glad you took a pic of it. I was going to crack one open, but I forgot.

I'm not sure what's going on with the Star Trek. Battle damaged has seen zero activity, I list the standard one(earlier release), and gets a bid, 3 watchers right away. It just made me curious.

If the NSX could have that same satin gray finish as the original Reventons, I would be so happy.

Speaking of, if anyone has that First Editions hardtop Reventon, trade me something for it. I NEED that.

I can't speak for everyone, but around here, the undamaged models were harder to find than THs. The damaged ones in recent batches have been much easier to find.

On that ugly car being the TH, see, that's what I'm talking about. Punish the scalpers & those who are lucky enough to find the Treasure Hunts, chase cars, short production cars, etc. There'd be nothing cool about Kool Kombi anymore, but you'll find a handful on every peg.

That Land Cruiser release is the first recolour to hit the market. The Land Rover is from a small playset which I found ever so luckily for $12 locally. Online, you can expect to pay $17 for it.
