No, the reason being is because they lose their essential value.
For example, you buy a hotwheels for a dollar and forty nine cents, the moment you take it out of its originally package, it loses that forty nine cents. Lets say you buy approximately ten hotwheels for the same price, 10 x 1.49= 14.90 minus 5.00, you only have a value of 9.90 when you take them out of their original package, and vice versa you could of had a value of 15.00 if you were to keep them sealed.

However, Someone has a large number of hotwheels that have been taken out. Their value however, does not equal the value of the originally sealed cars in the blisters. Ones included are the poorly stored cars, meaning the ones that have been banged, nicked, scratched, etc, these are known as the rejected junkyard, they have no value.

Everyone has their own collecting habits, some of us collect for fun, some have a serious need to keep everything minty crisp.
Welcome, captain obvious. On a serious note, that's not really anything we don't all know in here.

Was going to go out to look for G case cars tonight, then realized I had no money (literally) so I called it off. :grumpy:

Actually bought it for the case because I'm planning to make a custom for a friend's birthday, but turns out there's a crack on it, so I'm going to have to use my El Dorado's case instead.

Mopar awesomeness. :D

But really, did any of you guys expect any less from a Mopar car?

Its really just a habit that was passed on, I did however had in mind you guys might of had known this already.

I browsed this thread and noticed many of you guys had certain rare cars taken out of their original packages.
But, its all up to you. If its stored in plastic containers, then I would have to agree with the value increasing over time. Each collector is different.

I used to keep everything carded, as the obvious golden rule of collecting hobby is to keep the item sealed in original packaging. I then discovered how cool these cars actually are, and funnily enough, you really can't see them thru that completely clear blister/window/bubble. Bends & corners in those things can really throw off your perception of the aspect ratio.

When the cars comes out of the packaging, at least to me, they look different. That can be a good thing, or bad thing.

I have opened quite a few of my more expensive cars. I figured I don't plan on selling them anytime soon, and while they do lose some value, it's a trade-off I was willing to make. :)

I have always opened mine, they just don't have much purpose to me if they are left in the package. I know they lose value when opened, but I like to roll mine around a bit. :D I keep the original packaging to some of mine, namely treasure hunts, I still open them though but when I am not using them I put them back in there for safe keeping.

I'm not the out to gain money from my collection. Most of my stuff won't garner profit and the stuff that does is in limited numbers. Plus, getting all fussy with the condition of a product's packaging is too materialistic and silly to me. Those corners get bent way too easily it's not worth bothering to enforce a dedicated carded collection. They also take up a huge amount of space too.

We? Speak for yourself. That thing is horrible.

Horrible? Speak for yourself. The Boulevard release is worse.

You're right, the corners do get bent right out of earth quite too easily, and storing the cardboard and blisters take way too much space. But keep in mind, for what ever reason, even the most damaged or rough shaped original packaging can get you the gigantic bucks when you least expect it.

I've been saying all along: Make chase models & Treasure Hunts the crappiest cars nobody would want(except Gotbeefboy j/k) = Punish Scalpers

Cool cars available to everyone, less ugly cars you see going thru the pegs, everybody's happy. Mattel has been listening to us obviously, and now everybody's complaining.

Crop that bastard and it'll have that look you've been after. Like this:

Jesus christ, hoser! I just realized what the heck you were talking about, while in the shower! :ouch:

Not all '55 Chevy Panels come with bike in them, and unfortunately, one I sent you doesn't either.

At first, I thought 'bike' was some sort of metaphor. Then I thought maybe you asked for HW Ducati or something & I missed it. I then saw your pic & thought that 'bike' indeed was a metaphor for the Jaguar. :dopey: Best part was that I even mentioned the 'bike' in regards to that Japanese Convention '55 Panel I linked. God, I'm retarded.

I see. I wasn't actually after the bike, I just wanted to see how long it'd take for you to pick up on it....

I thought that 'bike' indeed was a metaphor for the Jaguar.

...and it looks like I've struck a good one from ya.

I was seeking kid/bike connection in there somewhere..... I should slap you, but I was mildly amused.

Here are some cars that I brought myself for my birthday. They just arrived from ebay today and I won’t post all the pics in one post because that would be way too big.
