Mini's probably metal/metal. It shouldn't be difficult to tell if a casting is plastic by looking at it, by weight, feel of material or whether or not you can bend it with little force.

I'd want the first gen MR2. I'd buy it. Jason would, too, so I know for fact they can sell at least two of those. :mischievous:

Make that three. And I know @Gotbeefboy564 specifically said HW but because I like fancy pants models, I'd love to see a TLV version of the original MR2 as well. :embarrassed:

My metal/metal Mini's open up with very little force. If there are opening issues, it would probably be due to paint on the grill aperture of the body, or an ill fitting hood cowl.

^^^^

Best idea EVER.

To be fair, you probably had me at fancy pants.

I also played around with two others today, but it felt like the body was locked down on this new one.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :)

Hai, douzo!

:embarrassed: Ohhhh, that collection right there just hit me with a huge mesh of nostalgia. I swear that I've had or played with at least 10 hotwheels/matchboxes exactly like these when I was a kid.

Yes me too! I turn 25 this year and I used to Play with them when I was 10 ! So they are really old by now but I still have them. I remember when my mom told me once, oh should I throw those away you are too old now. And I was like hell no!!! I am gonna Keep them haha.

That is the truth, though lot of people don't understand that.

Beautiful pics as usual, but no thanks. j/k

The casting reminds me of the Evora GT4, with its nudged up front end. Though it's subtle in the Mastretta.

Imagine if Mastretta captured the attention of Kyosho....

I'd want one if it didn't get the fish chin lift like the Evora. Sadly the 24 Ours suffered the same issue, but it's not as noticeable.

I've sat in the real thing -and by real thing I mean the very blue car that the HW car was modeled after, as it's the only MXT-R that exists afaik- and I can fully tell you that the model doesn't do the real car justice, even when the real car isn't by any means a beautiful car per sé, albeit a very very capable one. The castig is very very bad. I want one to turn into a normal Mastretta MXT. Too bad those are going to be absolutely scalped over here.

Ground clearance and chin lift often bug me more than large rear wheels. On some, I almost never notice the back wheels being bigger.

Gravel suspension setup, let's go!

Word. And in here, the proportions are all skewed. Headlamps, roof height, everything is off.
I googled the real car last night, and I did think the actual car looked cool. You guys already mentioned it, but it's not the first time we've been disappointed by the new casting. :D In Kakashi pics, styling do look 'fun' from some angles. *shrug*

I like that HW has done a cast of that car, even if it isn't exact.

Yes, that is cool in itself. I've known Daniel Mastretta for a couple years but my dad has known him for like forever, they worked together for like 13 years about 20 years ago and he tells me that he always wanted to design and build his own sports car. This truly is the dream come true for him.

I am really glad that the MXT is receiving some attention, because it is a capable car. It might not have the build quality of a Lotus for instance, but it isn't a cobbled-together car either. And it runs pretty damn hard. Will tail an Exige all day long in street tires (vs the Exige's A048s) and in semis it will eat it alive. And that's the normal car, I really want to hop into the MXT-R... whenever it runs properly.

And we are talking about a car that sells for around $1.

True, but cost hasn't much relevance to the chin lift or raised chassis I was speaking about. I'm pretty sure we don't have the designers going "It's only a $1 car, so make it look less accurate!" lol

I know it's a toy car intended for the tracks, but let's not forget there have been some mainlines made that don't even do any good on one in the first place ('65 Impala and '64 Continental come to mind). If they can make an exception there, who's to say they can't just make another exception for the Mastretta? That said, it's possible that they could've made it without the chin lift and still sell it for $1. Wouldn't you agree?

Speaking of finding hot wheels while grocery shopping, my grocery stores finally started carrying hot wheels after going real slow on the stuff for a many, many months.

I'm shopping & I see two cardboard bins of Cool Classics. I'm all excited, because I thought I was going to find the CRX & the Toyota truck. This brand new bins(TWO!) of Cool Classics have the very first release in them. Bah. :grumpy:

Reminds me of my Wal Mart to be honest. They still have the first set of Flying Customs on the pegs and haven't bothered to update them in month's!

What I'm looking forward next:

Alfa Romeo 4C, both Matchbox and SIKU versions.

The SIKU version is already impressive, I wonder how the MBX version stacks up...

I used to love Siku at the tail end of my toy car days. I fondly remember their Opel Omega, Astra - both wagons - the 7-series and the Z3 in black with red seats.

I'm sure there's a reason, why don't you ask them? I don't care for the car, so in general I could care less.

Stopped by the only Walmart in town again this morning looking for H case and they put out more Cool Classics CRX's. Nothing else put out. Checking again in the morning on my way to work, which will be around 5:30 tomorrow. :yuck:
