So when I get my internet up and running at home next week, I plan on starting my own website selling individual Hot Wheels cars. (at first, other brands added depending on how successful it is...) and I need opinions on how much you would be willing to pay for a single car off a website. My cost would be around $85-95 including shipping for each case, so I would need to at least make that back but would like some profit obviously.

Are these prices reasonable?

$1.49 or $1.95 - Regular mainline cars (+ shipping)
$3.49 or $3.95 - Regular release Treasure Hunt cars (+ shipping)
$9.49 or $9.95 - Super Treasure Hunt cars (+ shipping)

Those would be new releases. Prices would drop slightly as cars got older to help move inventory.

Thoughts? Be nice please.

You need to up the price on your $upers ($15-$20 depending on popularity of the model and stuff) and drop it on the regular THs since those are real pieces of crap right now. You could also do 2.50/3.50 for the popular/Tv/Batman trash.

Be nice? Man up, man.

I'd up the $TH like you said to over $10. $15 won't get buyers on lesser popular castings. Adjust your prices for more popular ones. $20 at least I'd say, maybe push it to $25. If you had something as sweet as the $TH 599XX, I'd probably aim for $30. $4 is good for most THs, $3 for the cruddy kinds like a Fangster. Cool/popular mainlines go with $2. Anything you notice that sells well should stay at $2. Do $1 for the crap mainlines.

Occasionally, you can rack in more business by promoting a sale. This is where you list your items for your "ideal" price. Your $30 $TH can go for $25, and the trash mainlines can go for $0.50 or less. Little people will pay $1 for unpopular/ugly mainlines. If you can find a whole bunch of them on the web, that's proof of it.

All the more reason to up the prices on popular stuff and lower prices on junk mainlines. You may make back money by listing them for $1.50, but who are you expecting to buy an unpopular mainline for $1.50 when they can just find it in stores for less?

You can keep playing all simple all you like, but if you're looking to make back money, you're gonna have to put in more effort at some point. Just saying.

Had a dentist appointment yesterday. Mr dentist was running late, so instead of sitting in the waiting room bored out of my brain. I did what any normal person would do and wandered over to the Kmart across the street.

Did you take yours out of the box?

Of course I did. :D It's one of the (very) few things I actually have opened.

What makes you think I'm not putting any effort in? I didn't ask for attitude, so don't give me any. And don't tell me to man up, I just didn't want smart remarks about my plan and I got it anyway.

You two should start a band together..... Call it the Beatles, or Oasis.

Picked up three Minis at Walmart tonight, but due to my internet troubles, I can't even load the pictures up. :banghead:
Of course I did. :D It's one of the (very) few things I actually have opened.
So proud of you right now....

Nice 86 and Laferrari!!!

Edit: Don't laugh..... This is all I can upload right now.

:ouch:

The red mini? Isn't that H case?
There are these collector guys I keep seeing in Portland area Walmart. I like seeing them, because when they are there, they are often breaking open brand new cases, and that was the case again last night. I saw couple of employees pushing out an empty dump bin, I recognized one of the employees(bought many ammo from him) so I joked to him that I thought he was bringing out new cars(again, the bin being pushed is empty). He just grinned.

At this point, I had checked Toys R Us, two Walmart stores(this being the second & last one) & I had picked up ZERO cars. :ouch: I go over to the sporting goods to check out ammo, but as I'm walking back, these two old collector dudes w/one young kid(always in 3's lol) is tearing thru new boxes......... then laying them neatly into the dump bin. I think they have an arrangement with the employees or something, because it was pretty clear that they were putting the cars away for the store.

Anyway, they always let me look thru the thing. Bit cautiously, but always courteous. 👍 They had no interest in the Minis(yes, they told me it was the "H" cases. Now Gotbeefboy got some beef lol), so I asked them to pick out the Mini's for me. I went thru just one case myself & only thing I remotely liked was the Star Trek thing & that gray Lamborghini Sesto Elemento(NFS), so I did pick up one of each. I observed all the cases they were going thru, saw few new cars, but nothing that interested me outside the three castings I actually took home.

P.S. I can not open this friggin Mini. It actually have a tab that says 'lock' & 'unlock', but it will not come apart. :irked:
Edit: Check it.
I LOVE Snoopy, but I'm not digging the crazy expression or the hot rodded doghouse. I think I much prefer these Tomica things I've seen before online. They are spendy now, I don't know how much they went for when they were new.....
The blue Skyline R34 should be in the H case too.
Yup. I saw one last night.

That sounds reallllly good. 👍
Ugh I want that mini.
This is the one I was waiting for(and you know how "real rider" oriented I am), and it did not disappoint. One of the favorite hot wheels I have already. :)

I'm going to go pick up my new favorite modem now. I'll see you guys later. Wish me luck.
