It's not a individual, it's the eBay corporate. Just to add, they also warn against sharing same password between different websites. I am very glad that PayPal didn't get hacked.About that thing about eBay being hacked. The suggestion to "change your password" is just the words of an overly-paranoid individual. Even if someone hacked your account, the furthest they can likely do is buy a ton of listings/win auctions with high bids, and revise your listings to 1 cent/free shipping. Since they don't have your Paypal account info, they can't use your account to pay for anything nor can they take advantage of winning your auctions since that can't physically make you ship your items. It'll be a headache to fix anything they mess up, but nothing permanent should happen. They also wouldn't be able to use your account and switch the shipping address since it has to match what they have on record at Paypal. Having an external party (i.e. Paypal) makes shopping online pretty safe overall I'd say. If someone hacked Paypal on the other hand, then we should be changing our passwords.
