Thanks Smallhorses and Dotini! You've both also been a huge help with your various posts.

Dotini - definitely, I've still got 7.7% of GT4 left to try earning as many of those pesky points as I can! I'm looking forward to giving GT3 a go with my DFP though. I grow weary of lineup hunts and N1s. Your setups on GTVault came in handy so many times! Preview Sarthe I before Suzuki Concepts? Previewing on the GTI cup? So helpful!!

I definitely walk on the shoulders of giants. This forum's inhabitants are a godsend!

I am encouraged to see members continue to make progress towards this goal. Definite congratulations to the newest members, of which I am still on course to achieve. Special kudos to Smallhorses for achieving this goal within his self imposed limitations.
My slow progress advanced significantly last night as I completed the professional series, thanks to the Black Beauty Mazda and settings from this forum. I have limited myself to completing the events for each license before advancing to the next license events. This means I still do not have my S license, but I have accumulated 90,xxx A-spec points. I have completed most manufacture races, but sadly lack max available points in these events. The special conditions, beginner, and professional halls and missions (even 34 with automatic transmission) have been completed for max points. On a positive note, there are over 10,000 points available in the newly opened (for me) extreme racing hall, and if I can capture most of those, 100,000 A-spec points is looming closer on the horizon.

 Welcome and Congatulations! imtheleprechaun, on your entry into the 100,000 club.
Why thank you!

Thats what helps make it so interesting.
Being in the dark about the most important bits of race info has only meant everyone's time being wasted by more than just lineup hunting. A "points on offer now" box next to the "points earned" box and a lineup/points_on_offer-adjusting button or slider would have saved all of us from hours and hours of menu driven madness. Not to mention power/weight/tire info for each car in the leaderboard, that stuff would make car selection a lot more fun and a lot more expedient.

AMG - Thanks to you as well! Holy crap I'm only #45!? For 110K+ I can understand that there's very few of you, but I'm shocked there's not a ton more people breaking 100K.

edit: ZOMG!!! So I just loaded up a race in Arcade mode for the first time and what do I see? Power, weight and tire info for all the cars in the leaderboard! What the?! It's in the game just not where it's most useful? I'm just flabbergasted here, GT4 is so screwed up, crazy town!

That's it exactly!

So I'm in arcade mode again - and I've just realized that on top of informative pre-race leaderboards, it also tells you your best points haul, before you even load up the race! They had the same great ideas for improving the UI that I did - only they didn't implement any of them in the most-played part of the game?? It boggles the mind!! I am slowly going crazy 1 2 3 4 5 6 switch!

I guess I'm in the club now. :)

Every race win of the 460 wins is a unique max A-spec point victory.

63 more to go (including most of the really hard ones)...

I did plan it to hit 100,000 exactly. Hit 99,000 today, then knocked off the Elise Trophy championship for 1,000 points to give myself this Christmas present...

Congratulations, jbrennen! Your attainment of 100,000 points and completion of Mission 34 (with auto tranny, no less) is the significant water mark.

Should you go no further, you can rest assured that you have all the respect and credibility that is due to a true master of the game. Should you elect to go further into the game, you can be confidant that others are here to help at every step.

Nicely done Jbrennen!

Congratulations on reaching the 100k milestone!

An impressive set of statistics!

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for some of your earlier posts and suspension setups. I've used them a number of times, and they were extremely useful.👍

Happy hunting!

Respectfully,

I wonder if my 100,000 point run sets any sort of speed record...

In this particular game save, I had 0 points on November 13. That was the day I finished the gold licenses.

Since then, from 0 to 100,000 points in 42 days, so averaging almost 11 new max A-spec races per day.

Of course, I couldn't have done it alone. The recommended line-ups and setups in this forum have been really a big time-saver. If I have climbed faster than others, it is only because the path was so well marked. :)

Congratulations jbrennan, very nicely done! And in only a month and a half with so few cars in your garage and no extra races, incredible feat!

I must agree. A truly remarkable accomplishment, especially considering the 100% win ratio. I know that can add significantly more time to the quest.

 Big Congrats and welcome jbrennan

I am looking forward to you joining the max point club with that 100% win ratio.

At your current rate of achievment that should not take long. ;)

Oh, there are many long races between here and there. The five longest endurance races, the four races of 1000 miles, all of the FGT series... I may be a while yet. ;)

I would like to finish off all of the non-200-point max A-spec races now though, but that may be a bit of a challenge, because it includes three of the Hyundai races. It also includes the Citroen 2CV races, and although that's probably not too difficult from a racing standpoint, it seems like wearing this 2CV out is taking forever...

I see another member to the 100,000 quest has joined. Kudos to jbrennen. I also humbly request to have my accomplishment notated. Last night in my Chapparal 2J I bounded past the 100,000 A-Spec mark with a victory at Infineon raceway in the Extreme Hall. I am over 50 years old, extremely low-tech, drive with the DS2 and auto tranny. I still do not have my S license and have not even entered at least 36 races that I can count. I have yet to enter all the S license races and some Endurance hall events. I do not have a way to transmit my screen displaying the 100,000 points but I can relate my status.
Game status = 91.5% complete
A-Spec miles = 19,xxx miles
B-Spec miles = 0.0 miles
A-Spec points = 100,045
64 Gold, 0 Silver, and 0 Bronze
Win % = < 15, at 14.xx (I am nothing if not persistant in retrying races to get better!)
All Beginner, Professional, Mission, and Special conditions halls completed for max points.
With my auto tranny and not caring how I got my points, I feel a special Kinship with Open Addict, but I do wish to tip my hat to all the members of this thread (Super Cobra Jet, AMG, GtSail, Dotini, etc.)that have helped me on my way to this milestone, as I am equally eager to tip my hat again as they help me progress on the way to exalted 111,813. This is my forth time through the game, but the first time going for A-Spec points. This game save has over 5,800 days, I believe I may be in the upper ranks of persistance. I also have had numerous scares from the dreaded red circle of death, but have managed to elude this fate by ejecting and re-inserting the game as he threatened me. Good Racing and Happy New Year to all!!

Congrats on the 100K, kalmjaws. I know just what it's like not having a way to transmit the screen display. I had to have a friend come over with a camera, then send me an email with the picture. Somehow I was able to get the file to the GTPlanet, but don't ask me how.

Congratulations Kalmjaws on reaching the 100k milestone!

I like the method you are using to complete the game!

A nice orderly progression.👍

I'm pleased that you found one of my posts helpful. It's nice to be able to help a fellow GT fanatic, since so many have helped me on my journey.

Nah, if you can manage a pad at >50 you're hitech. For the life of me I cant pad at all thereby missing out on numerous PS2/3 games. Ask Smallhorses and he'll confirm I did a lot of Aspeccing with a wheel @ 200 degree steering and auto. Thankfully I don't anymore, I've wised up. And I'm also >50.

Sadly I can't add you just yet as not all requirements have been met to make it to post triple two. I'll let you figure out what it is. ;)

Congrats

AMG.

! Yeah I remember getting on one of the stations at a UKGTP event that Rob had just driven on and was utterly confused for about a lap that I kept oversteering everywhere until we figured out how to turn the 900-degree mode back on! (It's quite difficult mid-race! :scared:)

Just reread your post Kalmjaws. No one you know that has a digital camera / phone you can borrow??

Somehow I was able to get the file to the GTPlanet, but don't ask me how.

Check my sig, there's a link to a tutorial :)

AMG.

 Big Congratulations Kalmjaws

You are not alone. Like Dotini, AMG, and you, I am over 50 years old, struggle with all the ins and outs of computer-tech, and drive with the DS2 and auto tranny.

Back when I needed the screen shot, fortunately I have my kids to rely on.
My daughter took the picture and put it on her flicker account, so all I had to do, is copy the web address to the thread.

I knew they would come in handy for something one day.

Maybe someone you know could do the same for you.

Congrats to Jbrennen and Kalmjaws.

Here's hoping every A-spec nutter had a fantastic festive season and played as much as possible.

I have finally reached the maximum A-spec score. 👍

My quest would have been impossible without the vast amount of information available and the great strategies from several people including Dotini , Smallhorses , and Austin343 , just to name a few.

Allow me to be the second to welcome you to one of the hardest clubs on here.
Huge congrats to you RVDNuT374.

It is great to see more names under mine in the list :)
