18 Minute Gamespot/Gamescom FM4 Video

On the OP video, I like everything that Greenawalt said except the part where he says he doesn't expect everyone to have hundreds of cars in their garage, he expects people to have 5 or 10 cars. Really? I'm not going to be happy with 5 or 10 cars. Who here honestly would be happy spending $60 to $89 (what I already paid, with tax) for a video game with over 500 cars in it and only have 5 or 10 in their garage?

Greenawalt's thought process here may be the reason Forza 3 cars cost so much in relation to how long it took to save up for them. It takes over a year of 40 hour a week racing to buy every car. To mod a car enough to be competitive on leaderboards, it usually takes several times the original cost of the car.

If you say "real life cars are expensive", I say this isn't real life, it's a video game. I bought it to drive all the cars in all the races, not to be limited to 5 or 10 cars. In real life most people can't do any of this stuff. That's why we buy the games.

I'm sure there is a "Free Run" mode where you can drive every car in the game, and if you want to get competitive make the investment and be competitive. I personally like the idea of it being time-consuming to get all the cars...it adds replay value and separates the men from the boys.

I would be happy. Sure its fun to test drive lots of cars, but I would be happy with 5 or even 15 of my favorites. Lets say 10 cars, customized and tuned to compete in every class I would have no problem with.

Its like Ice Cream. Say there are 31 flavors, and you sample all, but when you buy a cone you get your favorite 2 or 3 scoops. Because 31 different flavors of plain vanilla doesnt "do it" for me, like other games.

I have about 35ish cars in my garage in Shift2. I race with 8 of them regularly. The others I might drive now and then, but I got my favorite cars for my races.

It is a cinque god dammit, its already been confirmed

And it's comments like this that drive me nuts. I hadn't heard it was a Cinque until I brought it up and everyone else agreed. But, until T10 themselves mention the Cinque is in FM4, it's not officially confirmed. I'm 99% sure it's the Cinque, as is everyone else, but I don't want to jump to conclusions and then have T10 go "No, that was just a Zonda R dressed to LOOK like a Cinque" or some B.S. like that. Don't jump down my throat over spilled milk, please.

Seriously, what's this about buying cars taking forever? You can buy the bulk of the cars in FM3 fairly easily without having to work your butt off. There are a few very expensive cars, that's true. However, if you're not only looking for mulit-million credit cars, you can get yourself a decent garage of a few hundred cars very easily.

Also, Forza 4 will have 150 driver levels. That's 150 gift cars, and you can even chose among a few to get one you like. That alone will ensure that there's nobody stuck on a fistful of cars. And if you're VIP, T10 will shove even more cars down your throat for free.

And if all else fails, get down to it and create a somewhat decent livery/vynil group/tune and sell it in your storefornt. It's not that hard.

Thanks for your post Vaxxtx. I will try to keep that in mind Oct. 11.

The cars in Forza 1 and 2 took less time to acquire but I'm thinking Forza 4 will continue with Forza 3 economics. All I can do is make my view heard and try to accept the way the game is structured.

Otherwise it looks like a fantastic game. I like that they are gifting cars to your Forza 4 garage based on what you have in Forza 3. Also having a choice of level up gift cars so everyone doesn't have the same cars will make trading more useful.

I didn't hear about three times as many levels. That is a big plus.

To me, selling cars with fancy paint jobs has nothing to do with racing and something I would not spend my time on. I know some people are into it, just not my thing.

Perhaps you should take some of your own advice, & grow up yourself if this is how you choose to reply.

I bothers me slightly, but more for the same reason the New York track bothers me

The New York track bothers me too...because it sucks...in every game.

While FM4 looks to be the bee's knees, I don't see it destroying GT5. First off, it sold very well already. And the GT franchise will be kept alive by its name alone, so that's a pretty moot point.

Gran Turismo will probably always sell well. Name recognition and brand awareness alone will sell it.

I don't know if it's been touched on (or possible for that matter), but I wonder if T10 can release updates every so often that add a new car into the mode.

I mean, surely when the DLC cars start arriving on the marketplace, I would expect 1 or 2 of them to be usable in the mode.

I am curious as to how large an autovista DLC item would be. I am not sure I could see buying an Autovista DLC...UNLESS it includes the car. I would not want to have to purchase the AutoVista DLC of the 2009 Corvette ZR1 for example.

Yeah, I have about 5 million credits remaining, and I finished season 6, and I own cars from every manufacturer. Not seeing the big issue there.

Not to mention, you can get cars for a STEAL on the auction house if you want.

I must be the only one who has troubles with money in Forza. I am somewhat active in the auction house with some of my own vinyls that have sold here and there. I just have this tendency to buy a car and spending a ton of money buying mods... and then if I want the same car built differently (or stock-ish even) I rebuy the car. Like the other day I was at 300k and after modifying 2 different cars I was down to 100k+. Finished one of the series and took the NSX-R back to the mod menu to bump up the power a bit and make it a high A class... of course how I built it wasn't the best to win since the Z06 pulled on me in the straights so... back to buying mods/cars/etc. I do exactly the same thing in GT, actually have been doing it in all GTs and Forzas since the first ones

lol

I am weak!

Plug your controller in with the play and charge kit and hire a driver for one of the endurance races while you're doing other stuff. Helps a lot if you need some money...

cuco33, you are not the only one. Several people have commented on the official Forza forum on how expensive the cars and mods are compared to how long it takes to make credits/money. But Forza 4 isn't out yet, maybe things are a little more reasonable with it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited about Forza 4. I'll be at Gamestop when it opens in the morning of Oct. 11 with my Limited Edition receipt in hand.

I had no problem making cash in Forza 3. I'm sitting on 16 million credits now and have a decent collection of cars. At least the one's I care about. Some things I do that others probably don't. I race with a group about twice a week. With about at least an hour of multiplayer racing in. When praticing or tuning I always start a multiplayer session whether it's just me or 7 A.I. guys. Why run the car around the track for nothing when you can get paid even if it's the smallest amount.

I always just save the tune....

For instance, I have an A class and S class Ford GT. So You just switch between the two and no buying other cars.

I am at about 34 million with close to 200 cars. 75 cars just in the B class race group. With that said a lot of that money is from selling designs in the storefront and from flipping cars in the Auction house. I am only about 35% through the campaign but that pays quite well too especially since I race with NO assists on at all which gives me 100% of the money from each race. I swith the difficulty between hard and medium depending on the races or depending on how hard I want to push the cars. The rewind button is always there if you get into a bind.

I also race a lot with friends with bots. Anytime you race ALWAYS have bots with you because each bot is extra free money. You can even set the bots in a lower class or set them to easy or medium or give them no traction. lol

In relation to the RA onboard lap:

Has the track really changed that much or is it just that much more to scale? The start/finish, hell, the entire track itself seems relatively shorter in FM3.

My problem is the builds will be different and it's quicker to select a different car then to go back, re-mod/build and then load up a tune. I have 2 mk2 VW GTIs that my first was was fully modified with motor and drivetrain swap and another that is fairly stock outside mods I'd do in real life, like suspension/brakes and tires with some minor power upgrades. Painted them different colors too to deferentiate. More of a convinience thing then anything. But I'm a sucker for these games... I buy buy buy, mod mod mod, and splurge at every corner with FM and GT alike. GT's bspec, the grinder and the fact that every modification costs the same regardless of Civic, Skyline or Ferrari 458, helped out big time

build your first car with whatever you want on it. Tune it adjust suspension etc.

Save tune. ie, A class grip.

Use same car. Uninstall parts and build whatever takes your fancy.

Save Tune, ie, B Class fast.

When you use your Fiat 500 again just load tune A or B, class. All parts tunes etc are restored to your Turbo bath.

Basically whatever your collection is could be potentially doubled with all the cash your throwing away.

Uhm... When saving a tune, it will also save the build, you know. It'll swap all the parts for you, too, when switching from one tune to another.

Edit:

That picture doesn't really help your cause does it? You made a suggestion that had been made already which seems to anger you somehow.
It has nothing to do with what I suggested. It's how you chose to reply to everyone. Telling others to grow up when it appears Shoulden's comment was enough to make you angry (pot meet kettle? ).

Then again, looking through your post history after 1 day of registering, you may not be here too long since you seem intent on replying to other members in this forum & the GT5 forum with the same sarcastic attitude in all your posts. :dunce:

See I thought it only saved the tuning settings for suspension/brakes/etc as they are the same. I didn't know that it'll swap out mods if you did a motor/drivetrain swap or entirely a different build. I still kind of like having 2 cars since it's easier to just pick the next car. Maybe I'll go on selling the expensive dupes that I have and their parts now

It really isn't easier your way. Because even when testing the car you can change the tune on the fly by pausing, and also if you are on multiplayer you can do it in between races.

Now, I still have different cars like you but that's because of the amount in my garage. I have like 3-4 458's and Ford GT's haha.

One thing I would like to see is the ability to add upgrades to a car while waiting for the race to start without having to leave your lobby and do mods. just my $.02

I use this alot with my cars. Save me alot of time. 👍

I will make the matter trivial now, ill repeat once more you made a failed suggestion but you must now move on, hence why i made my intial comment.
You really got some attitude going there.

Also, where exactly was the matter McLaren brought up touched on? We know about DLC, but as far as I know, there hasn't been a statement as to whether T10 will add additional cars to AutoVista once the game is out of the door, which is the suggestion he made with his post.

In fact, looking the matter up on google makes it seem like it has been talked about a lot in different forums and message boards, but T10 has kept silent about it.

Im currently doing that too for exactly the same reasons.

Lol! Is this dude for real?

He is even trying to instigate a GT5 / Forza flame war in the GT forum lol.

Post(s) reported.

Funny...I hadn't realized Scaff changed his name and lost, what, 3/4 (random off the top of my head) of his total post count.

One hundred million?!?!?! Damn. What is there a "sell your body by the side of the track" feature I don't know about? You turning tricks in the pits or something? I thought I played this game alot , you must be selling on the marketplace. Question is what?

Ive put about 50hours into just online racing and season 6 of the career, im only at 3mill credits and probably 50-70 cars.
