A GT4 replay can only take up a maximum amount of space, then it stops recording. I don't know what the max is though...

Hi guys, long time no competition. Haven't been to this thread since September.

I wonder if thegreatms is still around so we can get back to the old comps. I got a new gt4 for christmas. :)

Edit: If there's enough people interested, i might take over the leaderboard and bring back the competition.

yesterday I took the model T around the ring in 21 minutes, im guessing its possible to do a 18 or so though.
This sounds like fun to do thouh, the three wheeled carrage. ;)

You should be able to get it well under 18 minutes. I was masochistic enough to do about 8 laps. It's amazing how much time a less than perfect line can cost in some places.

I got around 17'30 with the +20% Power and -10% Weight. :)

That is an impressive feat. It took me 2 minutes to do the quarter mile.

I'm afraid i'll need proof to believe that. like a picture of the time on the screen or a recording.

Edit: Big misunderstanding, i thought you mean't you took the Motor Carriage round the ring in 17.5 hours!

I took a totally stock Midget (with hard sports tires) around it and finished in 18.51 minutes. I could give you a picture with the time, but I still am trying to upload the video.

I just noticed that this thread is kinda going again. Looks like i should update the leader board.

I'll do that by this Sunday. Maybe I'll try to add a few more times on some of the easier courses to get things rolling again.

It would be nice to see someone attack the Nurb' again as that's how this all started.

Also maybe try some of the "almost impossible hills" tracks. Laguna Seca comes to mind

I completed a lap at laguna seca, has anyone else done this?

Nope, you're the first.

If you want to get on the leader board please post your time, as well as: the car used, mode used, and forward or reverse (I think Laguna Seca is only forward)

If you managed to save it please post your split times and any other info you want.

The motor carriage doesn't have a reverse gear. I wish! Going backwards was certainly still the best fun though- I think it's the only car in GT4 (hang on what about the 3 wheeled one of similar vintage?) that actually goes faster backwards than forwards (damn engine braking!). This is where a clutch would've been handy. I could've been able to go forwards downhill (with slightly better handling)! The 3 wheeled oldie might actually go better - less rolling resistance, better aerodynamics haha! Haven't got that car yet though.

quickly tap the handbrake button before it actually starts slowing down your car, and it puts it into neutral until you hit the gas again

Gosh, this thread brings back memories. Doesn't look like thegreatms is around much these days, so i'll do the leaderboard temporarily:

I also did Laguna Seca, i saved the time on it but i can't be bothered getting it now. (i think MadMax86 beat me anyway :P)

Here's some more :D

Car = Daimler Motor Carriage 1886
All tracks were run in Arcade Mode and in normal direction

Seattle Circuit - 1:06'10.124
Cote d'Azur - 30'04.899
Clubman Stage Route 5 - 6'52.154
George V Paris - 7'37.403
Seoul Central - 8'37.378
Opera Paris - 9'39.782
Hong Kong - 9'07.844

Recently been busy turning cars to dragsters.

and happened to get this done too:
Benz Patent Motor Wagen 1886 : 1'23.766 ( the 3 wheeler )

I also remember countering one track that is IMPOSSIBLE to do with these cars.. don't remember name , but it starts with uphill in very tight section where is no room to do the "pendulum" motion.
Basicly the lap dies before it even began.

The track may be citta di aria, still not sure about that.

Citta di Aria Reverse is great fun in the 'Benz Patent Motor Wagen 1886' - well the first downhill section is.

I have managed a 0'44.728 sector 1 time, with a top speed over 60mph, and a scary moment on two wheels.

Haha, you're right! It really is great fun. That 44.728 is frightening - did you have a lot of goes at it? And assuming you did it in arcade mode, what kind of tires did you put on it, and what did you do to the power and weight? On economy tires and stock power and weight, I did a clean 46.665, and know I can do a lot better, but I can't imagine getting under 45 seconds with my current skills handling this... er... "car." And yes, it does require skill - you have to brake twice, and start turning much earlier than you think each time, because this thing is quite slow to react to steering inputs.

I'll try to break that recod soon.

I've tried to do this in reverse too and spent 135 minutes on ,
trying to climb the long uphill (in Carriage) I managet to get to the Polyfony+GT standings on the wall just before the peak of the hill

I have confirmed that Citta di Aria is IMPOSSIBLE in any direction.

The only this that can be competed there is the T1 in reverse direction.

My T1's

Arcade mode:

Carriage (4 wheels) : 46.737
Wagon (3 wheels) : 44.572

EDIT: T1 for boght, multiple times

I just had some more runs, and it sure is addictive. :dopey: I managed a 45.993 in the carriage and a 43.398 in the wagon! As MadMax knows, I can take a video if you want to see it.

That's incredible improvement from your first time
Austin343
clean 46.665

Are these runs clean too? :D

Yea, I'd love to see them boght and if anyhow possible in the same video
all from beginning -> Start line -> to T1.

I'm at my limits alredy, maybe .1 or .2 improvement left,
but your .8-1.2 :scared:

really nice

Yes, they are clean, and I sort of fluked the Wagon run - I had a very good sharp right, and then actually did the hairpin probably the best I ever had. The Carriage isn't as crazy and so isn't as fun. I ran both with stock power (not that that makes a difference) and weight, and SS tires. Both have more time to get, but I can only do so many 2-minute runs at this speed before I get bored. It makes me really appreciate the people that have navigated steep uphills in these things. I would make a video now, but the table got cleaned and I don't know where the camera went... I will take a video as soon as I find it, although I will probably fast-forward through the whole 9 mph uphill on both.
