Citta leads that list. Amalfie could be in too... I have a feeling they could be possible, if the track would be just a bit wider, and allow turn-climbing...

Ive just attempted seattle both directions, begginer course, and costa de amalfi (sp?) in the daimler motor carriage, arcade mode +20/-10.
Costa first, didnt make it to the apex of the first corner, once i got near to it the car stopped making progress and began to slide back down ever so slightly. I then turened around and got a run towards the other end and there was a similar problem.
I went to seattle then, forwards to begin with. I got up the first hill fine, the second hill was steeper but still no problem, then the third came and i had no chance, car kept sliding similar to costa. I was using the 'spinning around in a circle' technique, i forget what you guys call it. After no result going forwards i tried reverse, and was suprised at how easy this way was. I did one lap originally, then as i passed the line i shot past my ghost (i was coasting), so decided to go around again, and i cut off a good 1'50.xxx. Final time 12'43.827
At beginner course i knew there would be no problem at all, just a straight forwards drive. It was by no means perfect but i finished in 2'31.957

Good times; I'll update the leader board in a few days.

Also I know you can complete Seattle in forward, as I did it in GT mode so it should be easier in Arcade mode; you will defiantly have to use the pendulum technique; it is used for the steepest hills. I'm betting on a time of around 25-30 minutes.

The only thing I question is the "flying" start on your second lap. We never really defined whether it is acceptable to coast through a start/finish line at higher speed than you got on the first lap start. On one hand it is very nice to have the ghost to compete with. On the other hand if we allow flying starts then to get a competitive lap time you may be forced to waste a whole first lap just to get up to speed as you pass the start line on the 2nd lap. These laps take long enough already.

I propose that you can only count the 2nd, 3rd, etc lap IF your speed at the start/finish line was the same or slower than it was on your first lap. In most cases this is right at the rev limiter. This will let you use the ghost as a guide but will not put you at a significant advantage over first lappers.

Ok, i guess ill have to redo my attempt, and also give forwards a good seeing to. Although, there wasnt much extra speed as you can imagine after having to chuck the 'car' around the hairpin before hand. About 4/5mph if i remember correctly. Anyway, ill see what i can do....

Some kids just don't understand... "Why would you do this? I just want to go fast? You have too much free time!" Let me hit the last one first with 2 words: Cold Pack. Or, Spare Freezer. :) Seriously, you can run your PS2 for quite some time with a handy cold pack, or a tupperware bin of ice (always wrapped in a towel to absorb condensation), or indefinitely in a spare freezer, with your cords snaking out of a vaseline'd gasket. Buhah!

Now why? Well, why would you do an endurance race? Why would you play any game for 2 days straight? I know I played the Metal Gear games for several days straight. For the same reason: Because of the challenge and the entertainment. When I get a PS2 again, I'll have to try this!

Extreme congrats to you guys!! :boggled:   Mezar5 puts it into great perspective--it's a matter of finding a new challenge. The best minds in history did the same thing. No, not race the 1880's cars round the ring :D, I mean they take the familiar and attack it from a new angle.

Mario Andretti? Screw that--YOU guys are my racing heroes!

Let me know if I missed something.

P.S. RenesisEVO; I’m assuming motor carriage on both Tokyo runs

Are you sure you're not mistaking it with boring? I mean, running the Carriage is kinda fun, but the test-course, hell, it's even boring at 250MPH with Le Mans Prototype racers, since the whole course looks the same.
But to answer your question, yes you can. The Test-course is located in Original Courses in arcade mode, therefore I assume you can run it.

OK, Thanks for the idea, just done Test Course in GT mode:
36'28.251 in the Motor Wagen.

OOPS! Forgot that information. It was actually the 3-wheeled wonder... I have yet to take the carriage out, or do the reverse.

And I totally agree - its a new challenge. Namely patience, but also hill-climbing.

Wow, this has to be the most mindless event in the game. I think I'll give it a try.:dunce: I sure hope I get the record the first time around. I'd hate to have to keep doing it.

It's actually quite interesting as you notice a few things that you never see on a 300mph run, such as the drifting? area on the left of the start staight, with pit area. Also, the sound effects in the tunnel are very spooky in the Wagen. Seeing the "light at the end of the tunnel" is quite a relief!

This time can be beat because I know I got better as the lap went on. Although I don't have my splits to show it.

With the Wagon (3 wheels) in GT Mode on the test track: 35'13.142. An average of 10.95 MPH. I know I averaged over 11 MPH on the second half of the track. I'll wait until someone makes me try it again before I try and improve on the time.

i've returned gt4 to my friend so i can't try this at the moment although i really feel like it right now

Hi Guys, long time no see.

Great to see the thread is moving ahead by itself. :D

How do I put the code-formatted times into the first post easily (for the first time viewers of the thread)?

Hmmm... it wasn't recently, but nice bump. ;)

When you edit it, just paste them where you want, and then highlight the data, and press the # icon located in the posting bar tools. If you do not see the tool icons, then switch editor modes.

'Tis good to know that I am not the only one traversing these pages in a questionable mental state. My own attempt at attaining Village Idiot status, was piloting said motor carriage over the Laguna Seca course. I can still feel the wind whipping through my follicles as I rocketed down the first down hill section of the course! "Powering" into the first section of curves was an absolute thrill! A full 3 wheel power slide! Needless to say that after the first 45 minutes, the effect of the medication was diminished, and so had my patience. Methinks that a lawnmower deck attatched to said conveyance, would at least give this vehicle some purpose. Maybe landscaping all the venues could be amusing!
I doff my dunce cap to you and tremble in awe of your tremendous accomplishment. Now kind Squire, rest thy weary self, and have another Valium!

I haven't been on GTP for about a year, I had multiple pages to read! :D

Thank you! Just never had a reason to use code formatting before. Yeah - I'm not a GTP power-user obviously. :sly:

I wondered where thee be hiding... This thread suits you spot-on ;)

this is pretty interesting! I might try the nurb in my pimpalishus model-T, seems safer me me 'n ma bizzle than some 1 seat buffoon wagen.

I wonder how the driver can sit on this wooden piece of rubbish for 48 Hours. I would only use the wagon on downhills and downhill drifting... NOT THE DAMN NURBURGRING! James, I still am wondering what you were thinking...
