oooooooooooh i miss gt4 and this contest:indiff:
I was hoping knocking off one of you times would give you some insentive to go buy a new game.

Better hurry up, I might try for your other title :sly:

I do have one question. Now that we are running laps that are pretty short; <30 minutes, do we allow "flying starts"? For example, on some tracks the is a down hill before the Start/Finish line, if you run the full lap you will be going fast at the S/F line than if you use the standard start. I think on seattle reverse one time I crossed the start line at about 23 kph, rather than the normal 18-19 kph max before redline. The would give a signifigant advantage. Should we allow people to use the extra speed from the previous lap to help their times on the next lap?

I personally only do 1 lap, and record that time, so I don't get any advantage (if there is one) of carrying extra speed over the line.

Btw thegreatms - you've listed my time under Arcade, it was a GT Mode time. I will set an arcade time later today (things to do first!) - might even crack the 20min mark if I'm lucky. Then of course, I should try out the 4-wheeler :sly:

Times to be added to the board:

Arcade Mode: Wagon Max Power/Min Weight/N1
T1: 3'19.951
T2: 7'53.583
F: 13'07.450

Arcade Mode: Carriage Max Power/Min Weight/N1
T1: 3'23.375
T2: 6'11.082
F: 11'14.015
Note: no stopping on this lap - first non-stop lap of a circuit with a <1hp vehicle??

GT Mode: Carriage/N1 TCS: 2
T1: 3'16.447
T2: 16'58.569 (the Carriage really suffered after the hairpin)
F: 22'04.797

Code:
Carriage (4 wheel) Wagon (3 wheel)

Special Stage Route 5 (Reverse)
Arcade 11'14.015 (RenesisEvo) 13'07.450 (RenesisEvo)
GT 22'04.797 (RenesisEvo) 22'03.243 (RenesisEvo)

I wasn't sure what tyres people have been using for arcade mode, so I stuck with N1 to be consistent with the GT Mode laps. Notice how the Carriage is fractionally slower than the Wagon in GT Mode.

Here is the updated leaderboard
Code:

GT none none

I wasn't sure what tyres people have been using for arcade mode, so I stuck with N1 to be consistent with the GT Mode laps.

I think you can use whatever tires you want. Whatever you think will help, in Arcade we use bonus power and cut weight, so I also use sticky tires.

i borrowed my friends gt4

Code:
beginners course: wagon (3wheel) carrige (4wheel)

normal: 2:35.055 (lthiele) (none)

reverse: (none) (none)

 You people have an awfull lot of talent to strenuously transverse hills all day (Sorry, Ithiele :(!), does it not drive you mad spending so much time going for a record to find out you've missed it buy half a second?
(:grumpy:......🤬, ... ,)

What a great challenge! i'll give it a try...👍

Well most of the recent times are on tracks no one has completed, so all you have to do is finish to get you name on the board.

Also with the more hardfought courses (N'ring) very detailed time splits have been listed, so you can track your time and determine if you are even close to winning. I have never finished a course without getting a new record; I have restarted the begining of course a bunch.

I have a feeling that the flat courses (ones that need no special techniques) will get pushed to there limits very quickly. It's the times on the courses with steep hills that will go back and forth. Every cycle will produce bettertimes.

I can't believe this board has been resurrected. Where to start? Are any of you new guys even going to try the ring.

Someone just commented that it must be frustrating to run a 3+hr race and lose by just a minute. Actually, it was jsut the opposite for me. I would have to go back and look at the details but my first record on the ring was with a 3+hr time where I was behind thegreatms all of the first eleven split times only to pick up enough time on the final leg to post a new record (which has since been destroyed by both he and I) by a little over one minute. It was an awesome feeling crossing that finish line.

I don't see me going back at the ring. Mianly because I don't think I can beat thegreatms' times. But I do appreciate him leaving my one record standing. Now that you guys are trying other courses, that aren't three hours a piece, maybe I'll get back at it.

Mission 34 really ruined this game for me. I had such a hard time beating that mission that everything else afterwards was so easy that the game seemed more like work than fun. Until I discovered this challenge of course.

Anyway, glad to see you guys kept this allive. I'll try to do my part.

Mezar5:tup:

Both Arcade Mode:

Wagon, Seattle Reverse, 14'18.651 (uncontested as of yet but I'll take it anyway)

Carraige, Seattle Reverse, 12'51.232. It's beatable, but I'll take it for now. It was actaully my first lap with the Carraige on Seattle reverse. But I had already taken three shot with the Wagon, so I knew the course a little.

I want to try hard tires tomorrow. I wonder if the coasting would be faster. Let me know what you guys find out.

You guys certainly are insane, though I guess someone has to do these things.

*doesn't even have the patience to take those things on the 400m or 1/4 mile tests, let alone a track*.

Did attempt the Ring though...couldn't hack it lol.

I've only ever completed one thing in the Motor Wagen - Las Vagas 400 Meter Strip, it taken 2 or 4 minuites (bad memory).

It takes around 5 minuites to go around begginer course, I tried motorland and got bored. . .

But as for Nurburgring, I tried and got stuck on a hill, could'nt be bothered to do the 'uphill' trick so taken a picture or two and given up.

Congratulations to everyone who's driven around a whole Cicuit (especilly Nurburgring), I have no idea how much spare time you guys have!

I just peed my self, the honda Life Step Van, complete with me f-ing around the Ring in, about 30hr, 27mins :dunce:

How would it take you that long? The Honda Life Step van has about 30 hp. It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes. I did the Nurburgring in 18 minutes in an 11hp, three-wheeled Daihatsu Midget. The Honda is monstrously fast by comparison.

Much faster than 30 hours I must say, do we have a liar on our hands here?

The Motor Wagen does I think around 10 minuite miles, so a track like El Captain would take 40 minuites at the very most.

Except that the 1886 cars don't have enough power to climb even shallow hills. Read the original post in this thread; the guy talks about how he had to tack up hills and go backwards down them. I mean, think about it, if you were averaging 10 miles an hour on a perfectly flat track (pretty much what the 1886 cars can do), you'd do a mile in six minutes - about the same speed as a fast jogger. Even a very slow walking speed will get you around the Nurburgring in far less than 50 hours.

Please remember that the 48-hour lap listed in the first post was not an attempt at a record time. It was an attempt to see if the lap could be completed at all. If I remember correctly the OP stated that he left the game running (not in pause) overnight two times. Also he goofed off a lot. Not to mention he knew none of the techniques we use now. For example, he had to roll down hill backwards.

Also note that these cars have very little power, on anything more than the slightest hill they cannot keep their speed up, so they drop out of the "power band": ~1hp @600-800rpm.

It is all a matter of gearing; If we could install a very low ratio first gear (so the max power would be at .5 or 1 mph) then we could drive right up most the hills, that would cut the N-ring times down a factor of 3 or 4.

Instead at EVERY hill that we fall below 4 mph we have to use the array of techniques we have developed: penduluming, looping, tacking...etc

Only the flattest courses can be driven straight up.
