I used that same car (it's the 4-wheeled carriage, as opposed to the 3-wheeled one, right?) on the Nuringburg course, but simply turned around near the start line and went to that long straightaway. I can't remember exactly, but I think I was cruising close to 35-40mph just beyond the overpass where the road dips for quite a distance. Then, I got bored when the road started rising again and I slowed back down to 6mph.

You have much more patience than I. Too bad they don't let us add some horsepower to it. I'd love to see that thing get up to 200mph on the straightaway.

JUST SOME HORSEPOWER?:ouch: dude you would need a jet engine to get the Patent-Wagon or the Motor-Carridge to 100! lol:)

Did you have to use the slingshot/pendulem thing to get around, and which way did you go?

the only real problem was the hill at the strait part which took about 15 mins and to answer your question i tried to keep going side to side

3-Wheel Drive
I think I've found a track the Motor Carriage cannot do... SEATTLE.
If it can be sone, you could get some wicked speeds on the down hill section that just goes down, flat, down flat near the end on the reverse circuit

as i said i did it in about 33 mins

I would never drive the Daimler Carriage around Nurburgring for one lap.

But anyways, doing it for two days is crazy! I can't imagine how far the Carriage will go at such speeds.

This would be interesting if GT let you pick different fuel types! I bet diesel would be far more effective at getting you up the hills, while something like methanol would let you accelerate a bit better on the straits (with the game automatically adjusting the engine to allow for the fuels...it is "just" a game). I may have to try this.

I cant imagin how long it would take to drive that S*** box around NURBURING, it takes around 10 mins in a Modified Mercedes
and how powerful and performance-oriented is that "Modified Mercedes" you're talking about?
I can do a lap around 'ring in just under 10 mins even with an almost hopeless 120hp fwd Toyota Carina ED equipped with economy tires
It has so poor grip around corners you won't be able to go over 35mph at the Karussell corner, go and try it yourself :dopey:

I broke the 9 minute barrier in a 172bhp Peugeot 106 Rallye on N2 tyres. That was great fun - would love to know what this modified Merc was!! In fact, that Peugeot has done something like 300miles, and its only ever been around the 'Ring.

Uni finishes soon (yay!) so - I will hopefully get time to perfect my techniques, before making an assault on the 'Ring with the lesser-powered 'cars'.

Good to see the thread is still alive. No lets get some people going for the big prizes: The four N'ring lap times.

Man that is hardcore!! I tried to circle around test course in that wagon for the top speed lol....got bored real fast

This adventure is a lot more complicated than just holding down the gas button. The subtle technical it requires makes it probably the most challenging task in GT4, in my opinion. However it does take an intense concentration that some might find boring.

Also finding top speed on a flat surface is very boring: The cars hit there rev limiters very quickly.

A few notes:

Either the wagon or carriage would NOT need a "jet engine" to reach 100mph. You can break about 70 mph just coasting on the N'ring. The cars are so light, and the aerodynamics of GT4 inaccurate enough; I bet they could go 100mph with about 20 hp, and a steep hill.

Fooling with type of fuel would be a silly way of helping the old cars around the N'ring. The best way would be to change the gear ratio. A simple extra low gear would let you climb up all the hills at 1-2 mph. This would cut the lap times down by a factor of 10 or more.

Good luck racing.

i just did seattle in 19:16:820 and i got the car to go at 77km/hr

you don't have to go backwards just put the handbrake on for a second and it will go out of gear

Awesome!

Give us some more info so we can compete: Which way did you go around, clockwise or anti-clockwise?

Did you run in GT mode or arcade mode?
If it was in arcade mode, did you boost hp and lower weight?
(In general, in this thread any arcade mode times have used boosted hp and lowered weight; while in GT it has to be stock; that is why the GT times are so much longer.)

Which car was it again: the motor carriage (4 wheel) or wagon (3 wheel)?

With this info we can have fair competitions.

Give me the info and I will start updating and posting a list. I propose that in arcade mode we always use boosted hp and lowered weight. So for each course we could have up to 8 times: 2 cars (carriage or wagon) X 2 modes (GT or arcade) X 2 routes (forward or reverse aka clockwise or anti-clockwise).

In the case of the N’ring there are only 4 times as you cannot run it backwards and get the timing to work.

reverse version i was going to add that

thegreatms
Did you run in GT mode or arcade mode?

arcade

thegreatms
If it was in arcade mode, did you boost hp and lower weight?

boosted power to +20 and weight to -10

thegreatms
Which car was it again: the motor carriage (4 wheel) or wagon (3 wheel)?

the daimler 4 wheel

great info.
Lets see how this chart looks:
___________________Carriage (4 wheel)___________wagon (3 wheel)
N’ring
Arcade ____________184’12.932 (thegreatms)______177’43.082 (thegreatms)
GT________________416.12.547 (mezar5)__________351’55.763 (thegreatms)

Try using CODE tags - might make it look a bit neater.

Or colour the underscores a colour close to the background (LemonChiffon I think) then they won't be as noticable.

eg:

Code:
Carriage (4 wheel) wagon (3 wheel)
N’ring
Arcade 184’12.932 (thegreatms) 77’43.082 (thegreatms)
GT 416.12.547 (mezar5) 351’55.763 (thegreatms)

Seattle (reverse)

GT none none

Formatted in CODE looks best I think. :)

i just did cote d' azur in 29:37.646 with the 3 wheel wagon

same settings as last one

i might try and see how fast i can get going down that hill sometime, can't be bothred now

Wow, that sounds pretty good. I had thought the long hill right after turn 1 would take forever to get up.

I think I will use CODE to format the chart, just have to figure out how...
I will update the chart every few days (or after a number of changes), no need to post every time a new time is made.

:sniff::sniff: i won't be doing this anymore til i get new gt4, my old gt4 whivh i had for about 11 months just stopped working, i always had troubles booting it, but last night i found a chip in it and it doesn't work at all anymore, i don't know when or how it got a chip in it :sniff::sniff:

goodbye gt4, best game in the world until i get a new one:guilty:

next time i might try cita di aria that would be almost impossible but not until i get new gt4

Major bummer dude. I would like to keep this going, I wonder if James is still around?

I think gt4 is "greatest hits" now; so i bet you could pick one up cheap.

i was thinking that and mentioned it when i said it in 1 a different thread

Special Stage Route 5: Reverse. GT Mode. Wagon (3-wheel)

T1: 3'26.138
T2: 14'19.866
F: 22'03.243

I'm sure it could be done in just under 22 minutes - I stalled a few times on the straight, and had a few issues getting up the hill after the hairpin.

Good to see you back Renesis.

I got some new times and a updated leaderboard:

my times:
