We should consider implementing a rule where participants can only PM their shots, since posting only on the deadline might be too inconvenient, lest some people become accidentally inspired, or lead some people to believe so...

I did! And I am very happy that at least two entries had the angle I was hoping for. Of course I couldn't say anything to hint at it though, or most of the shots would've come out that way.

That isn't a bad idea, but the forums themselves would be pretty dead. Most comments in the forums derive from the shots entered.
