Well I think I have a buyer on my GTR's full stock exhaust. So I'm back in the game. I want headers too though, but that will have to wait.

May be an ignorant question but why do some have use of buying a stock exhaust?

Vettes have a tendency to get you into trouble  especially when you mod them. My dad's friend has owned many fast cars and currently one of the cars he owns is a gallardo superleggera, well that guy sold his modded 'vette because he was afraid he'd kill himself (I guess it was too powerful and tempting). I'd imagine a Viper would be even worse
EDIT: ^I'd say either to mod it and not spend as much or use it for another car

I kind of wonder that myself too. I'm not really sure but I think you may be able to mod them to fit another car. Another reason would be if someone wrecked their GTR, mainly the undercarrage, they may need replacements. Or lets say they had a big problem that is covered under warranty but the aftermarket exhaust voids it, slap on the stock exhaust and take her in (I know someone who's done this).

Was going to after cars and coffee last weekend but had to take off early, and its been raining a ton in South Florida. I also want to do the pictures from a specific spot near the ocean but I'll do a few quick ones just to post.

What year Vette?

Picked up an 07 C6 coupe on Friday!

Congrats! Pics? Color? Transmission?

Side note, I love my C5 but I was browsing the internet and stumbled upon an absolute steal on an '07 yellow C6 Z06. Only 19k miles. Clean carfax, like new condition. I contacted the seller and if its not already gone I may have to do it. I love the C5's but this is newer, less miles and a lot faster. It's truly a deal too good to pass up. If not I'll just juice up my C5 over time and be happy.

Honestly, being the car enthusiast I am and can't stop thinking about cars, I had the thought that down the road when and if I sell my stang I'd like to buy a C6 Z06 and just make it absolutely evil. I'd prefer to keep the stang and do that too. That'd be quite a stable. :mischievous: I'm all for the switch if you can do it. 👍

I updated my thread with more info! I suggest going for a C6 Z06. Who doesn't love 427ci!?

Problem is the guy selling is in need to sell right now, and I don't think I would have enough time to get mine sold in time. The guy even offered free delivery from across the US. I feel guilty about this because I have a soft spot for my C5 but this deal is truly one of the best I've ever seen. Its such a steal I should do time in jail.

I can't look my C5 in the eyes anymore, such betrayal. If the deal doesn't happen that's alright, a few bolt ons and tune will be good enough for me.

Maybe I'm a bit heartless but I'd do it. :P

Idk I guess i think of it as its not your GTR you're sacrificing. Its a secondary fun toy that will be upgraded by a newer and more powerful vette. Works for me.

EDIT: Assuming you can financially swing it without selling the C5 first.

Blackbird.

You make a good salesman lol. And I would have to sell the C5 in order to get the C6.

Just snapped these real quick before cars & coffee meet.

Blackbird.
Looking good! Lowering the GTR sounds expensive.
Thanks.
Lowing the GTR will be under $300.
The good thing about the Z06 is you can lower the stock bolts with the stock setup as is, no extra parts needed. I just want a bit less space between the tire and wheel well.

Wow. That's all I got. Wow.
Lol, thanks.

Do you sit low in the GTR, I mean does it feel anything like the vette seating position?

Just a warning about the stock bolts, your ride gets pretty bumpy if you lower them all the way down. I have mine as low as possible. It's not unbearable, but if there is construction on the freeway or something and the road is uneven, you get banged around a bit. It can get old, and girls complain. At first I thought I had ruined it, but it's only bad on rough roads. On smooth or new roads it's great. Just something to prepare yourself for.

Not at all, getting in and out of the vette feels like you are sitting on the ground. The GTR is very easy to get in and out, almost like a regular car but just a tad lower.

The Vette is so low you almost fall into the seat getting in because you can't lower yourself anymore. I'm 6'3 though. Getting out is almost equal to sitting on the pavement and trying to get up.

The GTR is just a big car in general, but its pretty damn wide.

Did you have a realignment after lowering it? To be honest ride comfort is my last concern or care in a sports car. A rough riding, fast, loud sports car is just fine by me. If I want comfort I'll go with a luxury car. Thanks for the heads up though. I rode in the first gen Viper RT/10 and loved the crudeness of it. You got any pics of your Z lowered?

Really? Nice will look forward to that. 👍

Yeah, you should get it aligned once you lower it. It's not a huge difference, ~1 inch in the rear and 3/4 of an inch in the front. But it rides fairly high stock so that little difference makes it look much better.

Here's a pic before the exhaust. I took a current one but I can't get Flickr to let me share it.

Does yours have a lot of popping on deceleration?

Yep and I love the sound of it.

I'm going to get the ride height lowered sometime this week or next, then in a few months I'm going to powder coat the stock wheels gloss black.
