So how many Cobalts have you seen in person? Because you commented on a car you haven't seen in person, let alone driven, yet when someone else comments on looks, he's suddenly breaking the AUP?

So, again, why are you going after this guy for commenting on the looks of the car?

The coupe aint look half bad, i would have to say that it is an improvment over the Cavalier styling. And for a very reasonable prive, expect to see many of these on the roads in the next few years!

Here's another situation - the third, I believe - where you're trying to take a quote of mine and make it seem like something it isn't to prove a point of yours. Two problems:

1 - I didn't criticize anything, except the Cavalier. Note that I said, "If this thing doesn't leap over the Corolla and make up for all the Cavalier's downfalls, then it's just as bad as the car it replaced." That statement does NOT say that the Cobalt doesn't leap over the Corolla, it's just as bad as the Cavalier. It instead says IF. Therefore I'm passing no judgement on the vehicle whatsoever. I can't see how you got confused. Read and re-read, if you must.
2 - I've seen several Cobalts in person. Good going on that one.

And I'd love it if you answered my question "So?" from above, because I really had a situation where I had a funny little joke prepared - guess I'll just have to use the colours for now.

Note that I said, "If this thing doesn't leap over the Corolla and make up for all the Cavalier's downfalls, then it's just as bad as the car it replaced."

There is one problem, I didn't quote that line...

So, just for you again, this is what I quoted:

The Cavalier was the worst domestic car ever. (yes, I remember the Cadillac Cimarron) I'm ready to say that this thing is even worse.

I'd also like to point out that you said that prior to ever seeing a Cobalt, because you posted it the same day as press days, so unless you're the lucky few there at LA that day, then you made that statement without seeing the Cobalt.

So, again, what is wrong with this guy commenting on the car's looks, what does it have to do with the AUP, and where in the world did he lie?

I was just assuming you were going to go back on that. It doesn't even have a criticism in it. Except for the Cadillac Cimarron, which is well-deserved. The statement " I'm ready to say that this thing is even worse" isn't "This thing is even worse."

Duh?

then you made that statement without seeing the Cobalt.

Yeah - but the difference is I wasn't criticising it.

Since then I've seen the Cobalt and read all the "official" press literature - and I haven't changed any of my statements.

So, again, what is wrong with this guy commenting on the car's looks, what does it have to do with the AUP, and where in the world did he lie?

The AUP says that you're not allowed to post any information that is knowingly false, misleading, or inaccurate. Making a post judging a car's style without actually seeing that car is unquestionably inaccurate (and probably misleading and false). In this situation, though, I'm wrong - it's unknowingly inaccurate - i.e. ignorant. Perhaps there should be a rule against that.

OK, and what about what he posted was inaccurate, false, or misleading? The guy stated his opinion of the looks of the car based on the pictures posted, he didn't state a fact. Opinions can't be inaccurate, false, or misleading...

I'm fairly sure everyone else who has posted opinions of the Cobalt in this thread hasn't seen it in person either.

None of them qualified their opinions with the statement, "I haven't seen the Cobalt in person, but..."

Opinions can't be inaccurate, false, or misleading...

Sure they can be, if the basis for the opinions is inadequate information.

None of them needed to say that they didn't see the car in person, it's a logical assumption. Just because he's basing his opinion on internet pictures doesn't mean his opinion is false, misleading, or inaccurate.

You don't know how much he knows of the car, how many pictures he's looked at, etc. Just because you think internet pictures are useless and inadequate doesn't mean everyone else does.

I don't think you have any room to get on this guy's case at all.

At least you're only clamping down on opinions you disagree with - certainly respectable. I find your personal vendetta against me satirical and I hope it continues for many months in the future.

Just because you think internet pictures are useless and inadequate doesn't mean everyone else does.

Yeah - and that's really the problem, isn't it? Somebody sees a couple of Internet pictures and suddenly they're the style expert of the month. Everybody should realise that Internet pictures are inadequate and shut the hell up until they see a few of the cars on the street.

*sigh...*

I don't recall anyone stating that they were a design expert in this thread, or any other thread that has debut pictures for new or upcoming cars. I don't recall anyone acting like they were a design expert either.

I also do not recall there being anything in the AUP against stating opinions on pictures posted on this forum. I also do not recall there being any rules in the AUP stating what opinions are valid or not valid when it comes to the look of cars.

Further, I do not recall any statement made by The Vanishing Boy that is a lie, post anything false, misleading, or inaccurate.

Finally, you yourself do not know exactly how much The Vanishing Boy knows about the car, or how much he has seen of it. The minimum limit is 10 pictures on the internet you say? Fine, wow do you know he hasn't seen others off this website? How do you know he hasn't read all the press releases or visited Chevy.com? You don't, you're assuming.

So back to what I originally said: Why in the world are you opening your damn mouth and criticizing a singular someone for doing something that you, me, and everyone else on this board does when it comes to new cars like this, and especially when he has done nothing wrong, then telling him he deserves reprimand for stating those same opinions that everyone else states. Not only that, but a guy who specifically states that he has not seen a car in person and is hence judging from internet pictures, instead of neglecting to mention it like everyone else does (although they shouldn't need to).

So basically, why are you being a jack*ss to someone for stating an opinion on a damn car? Seriously, back off and get a clue, you aren't impressing anyone with your superiority complex.

I can cite examples, but it's long.

Cute, now that completely avoided everything I've put forth. I guess an educated response would be too much to ask.

Well, it seems you've ignored my responses - three things you "put forth" in your long post I had already addressed and one was completely irrelevant. Why reply? You've done the same thing before and I expect it well into the future.

And tell him it says "is."

So in other words you still have yet to give any reasoning for why you felt like harassing Vanishing Boy, and while at the same time ignoring everyone else who did the same thing he did.

I'd say the only person here who has broken the AUP has been you, and quite frankly I hope you get reprimanded for it.

You got it right!

Right again! Two straight!

Wrong.

Like I said, lack of an educated response.

Or maybe it's that I'm tired of you ignoring every single thing I say. You've done it several times in the past, you've done it three times here. Therefore, I'm done arguing with you when it proves nothing more than to be an exercise in pointlessness.

And remember - the goal is soul.

Ugh. Just go back and read what you wrote, it's a little ironic at the very least. Moreso now that you think I'm wrong.

Of course, blah blah blah excuse for you not having to explain why you screwed up.

For someone who is done, you seem to keep on coming right back.

Okay, I think we're done here, since this argument is going in circles (at least they're round circles!), and the thread has served its purpose by showing those interested what the Cobalt will look like.

Padlock!
