Never say never. I actually think Honda is going to consider it. Look at the NSX, it already cost a lot putting a V8 into it would only make it that much better.

Fact:
Honda Is the company in Japan with the longest and most respected racing history. Entered Formula 1 in the 60's.
Honda will sell more than 3 million cars in 2004, 2 million more than BMW.
Honda did consider it, did you hear about their (recently dissolved) partnership with GM? They were going to sell GM V6 engines for the Vue, in exchange for V8 engines for a full-size truck project that got axed. Obviously, now GM is just buying V6es from Honda, and Honda isn't geting any V8s.

A V8 engine is more expensive to manufacture than a V6 because it has about 30% more parts. Why would Honda build V8s if they can get V8-like performance from their V6es?

Don't hold your breath. A next-gen NSX is more likely to use hybrid technology than V8-power.

There are plenty of Bangled S2000 body kits out there.

Just look at this. :yuck:

If I'm not mistaken, someone is trying to copy the one from 2F 2F. 👎

F00k that Spoon S2000 on GT3 is exellent. Best handling car, I reckon. I love the sound too

I have no idea that Honda had any relationship with GM. But whatever the case is between Honda and GM, it seems like if Honda wants a V8 they are going to have to build it by themselves. I know that a V8 is more expensive but you have to think about what people want. You know a ton of people who would love to have a V8 in a Honda, and are willing to pay for the extra cylinders and hp.

The best V6 available from Honda is the one in the NSX. With 290hp, it can perform with cars like BMW M3 and such. But even you have to agree when compared to the 405hp V8 Z06 it don’t stand much chance. Straight-away wise, it just can’t compare.

As for the next NSX, there is a rumor that it has been axed. So I’m not sure that we are going to see any new NSX at all. All rumors, can’t wait for Honda to officially release some real statement!

The best V6 will be the 3.5L V6 in the new RL putting out 300hp besting the NSX thats still ULEV compliant.

Even if the 2004 and the 2005 S2000 has minimal changes to the car it looks better then the '04. The exhaust tips are bigger and the front fascia, I believe, is different. If there is a difference it looks better.:)👍

LoudMusic, just because we have more power it don't mean we are going to be some stupid ass and street race. Just have more power enough to have some real fun on the track. I mean 240hp is enough, but if you want to be a hardcore racer, you are going to have to up the power.

Anyways, Loud what is the most hp have you ever heard produced by an S2000? I have heard 500hp + from a turbocharged S2000. You don't need that much power though!

Hmmm, 500HP is quite a lot. I mostly see more in the range of 280 to 320. There was a guy on S2ki.com that bored out the block of a 2L to make it something like 2.4L, then slapped on a huge turbo. I don't remember the HP rating, but it was freaking high. He had to replace almost everything else down the drive train to keep it from ripping the car appart.

If you want a more "race ready" track car get a Lotus Elise. It's a track car (: The S2000 is about as far toward the track side as you'd want to go with a daily driver.

The Lotus Elise cost 10 grand more than the Honda S2000. That is quite a big difference.

I agree with you though. I think that the Honda S2000 has enough performance stock. We all know that if you want a car to tuned up easily and get a lot of power, S2000 is not it. I believe most S2000 modification cost a lot!

Im with you, I can't wait to lap the S2000 at Nurburgring in GT4. Whoo!

And if you wanted more power in an S2000 it wouldn't exactly be free either. And you're getting plenty of 'creature comforts' that the Elise doesn't offer.

ok, quick show of hands,

S2000 vs. Lotus Elise vs. Caterham R300
2 laps of Nurburgring.

Which engine in the Caterham?

In the US we get a Focus 130 hp unit or a Focus SVT 180 hp one. (the ratings might be slightly higher due to freer flowing intake/exhaust)

I think Europe gets some 160 hp Rover engine.

Caterham would be fastest w/ the 180 hp or 160 hp engines, otherwise the Lotus (with the Celica 190 hp unit)

Yeah man, for two laps I'd take the Caterham, followed by the Elise. Though the Elise would probably be more comfortable.

Next question, your boss has totally flipped out and asked you to take a month long paid vacation of your country. Only requirements are that you take one of the three cars mentioned above, a digital camera, and drive like a mad man whenever possible. Now which car do you take?

Depends of whether it's the Mark I or Mark II Elise. The Mark II is much comfier, and has such luxuries as electris windows and a car stereo. The Mark I pretty much has two cardboard boxes inside to sit on.

The Caterham is out of le quéstion. It's like Janet Jackson. You wouldn't mind a night with her, but the thought of the morning after is terrifying. I couldn't drive for miles upon miles in a Caterham. I can't drive anyway, however.

So looks like it's between the S2000 and the Elsie (spelling mistake is intentional. It's an affectionate nickname). I'd probably take Elsie. The S2000 is lovely, and without a doubt the most comfortable car to be in, but with Elsie, you put effort in, and you get alot out of it.
The driving aspect alone is (I'm told) amazing. The S2000 is like getting rewarded without trying. Where's the fun?

Please don't shout at me LM:(

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!! S2000 OR DEATH!

I didn't know there was such a thing as an Elise "Mark II". And since the boss is paying, I'd jump on the Elsie bandwagon as well.

Lets open it up now and bring in the rest of the competitors. Boxster S, Z4 3.0, TT Roadster (whichever is bestest), 350z Roadster, Elise (Mk II), S2000. Anyone I'm leaving out? I guess American cars include things like the Mustang Cobra GT Convertible, but the name is so long it's almost not worth it.

One month. One car. One digital camera. One friend. Zero expenses. Choose wisely.

Alfa Spider, Chrylser Crossfire Convertable, Maserati Spyder ,Fiat Barchetta, Ford Streetka, Lexus SC430, TVR Tamora, Toyota MR2, MGTF, Mini Cooper S Convertable, Volvo C70, Marcos TS, , MX-5, Morgan Aero 8, Porsche Carrera 4S Convertable, Smart Brabus Roadster, Mercedes SL55, Mercedes CLK55.

I've got the Z4 in there, but not the new 6 series. Personally I think I would take the Z4 on such a trip. Fully equipped it becomes a rather impressive ride.

S2000. Not because LM is beside me with a gun pointing to my head and threating to pull the trigger if I don't say S2000.

But...if it isn't LM holding this gun at my head, who is it?

TVR Tamora (not the TVR Yesterday. Well I thought it was funny.:grumpy: ). Because it's perfecter than j00.

I would take either the Boxster or the S2000. Although I dont think that I could live with either as an everyday car for more than a month.

Boxster for the exhaust note mainly....S2000 for everything else (handling, on the edge driving...)

I guess it depends who my "friend" is. Ladies usually dont like getting tossed around in the passenger seat (well, at least when it the car doing the tossing ;) ).

i think we should see what you would pick between S2000, Elise Type 72, and the Elise Exige..now theres a battle...although in performance aspect the S2000 would be left screaming at them to wait up...but if ur into under-1000kg cars with extremely amazing handling i think the Exige and 72 would be a great match...and then throw in a celica to see how it matches up...hehehe. "hello S2000!" "oh god not celica again..."
I would so take the Boxster! ladies all recognise the name Porsche...but not the performance hehehe. as far as the S2000 goes, id just put my gramma in the passenger seat and time how long it takes her to croak as i go flying thru the Nurb.

The S2000 and the Elise are totally different cars. I don't consider them in the same class. I think the Porsche Boxster is the S2000 main competitior as far as roadster/convertible goes. Include the 350Z Roadster. And you will have a triple way treat.
