On a different note, does anyone know why Nico Rosberg speaks German during his "Inside Grand Prix" interviews? He speaks very good English, so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

IIRC all the drivers speak in their native language due to it being a European show then dubbed into English (or other languages for other markets) saving them having to have a German speak English then translated into German for their viewers.

Still won't stop everyone I know tuning in just to watch Schumacher try and boot Alonso off the track.
Or let somebody else do it. Like fatman_5050 said, he's getting the car as a retirement present.

Why worry if MS takes out Alonso? I'm not. If he takes out Alonso, he takes himself out, thus losing the championship by 10 points and Alonso wins. Unless he can take out Alonso and not himself. And, if Massa takes out Alonso, bet on Fisi taking out MS.

Alonso FTW.

He doesn't have to ram him to take him out - he can prompt Alonso into attempting an unwise pass and squeeze him out. Like I do to GT4 AI cars...

I figure he's German. Why shouldn't he speak German?
Thanks for the geography lesson. I'm just wondering, because all of the other drivers who appear on that show conduct their interviews in English (even Mark Webber). A lot of the engineers don't, but they may not speak English at all. I don't watch the show much, so I'm probably wrong, but whatever.

Alonso is smarter than the GT4 AI (well, most of the time anyway). He'll probably stay several hundred feet away from MS at all times.

That was a fun start. Two guys on the same team taking each other out; must give the owner a warm-fuzzy.

EDIT: MS got a flat RR and is a lap down and Trulli is out. It's going to be a crazy last race. And now, it's revealed Fisi punctured the tire of MS. He did his job of blocking MS.

(lalala spoilers, watching through live timing, text only)

What just happened (lap 9) must definitely be deflating the Ferrari crew's hopes a bit...</badpun>p

("Schumacher has a rear puncture." close enough)

More notes: (maybe this'll just be my recap post now ^^)

Lap 11: What happened to Toyota? Something mechanical break? Both pulled in almost at the same time. File that one under oops.

Also, late: Too bad for the Williams team. Webber just doesn't seem to get much luck. Were they the ones running 20K RPM this race? I was looking forward to seeing how that would end up. Oh well...

Lap 16: Coulthard is in. Sure is a fun day for the mechanics...

Lap 18-ish: Honda looks impressive, according to the numbers, anyway. Barichello and Button are in the top 6 and are the fastest on the track aside from Massa (and maybe Schumi). Would like to see a good result from them...

Lap 21: Revolving door of pits. Kimi, Fisi, Rubi...erm, Barichello in. Also, Sato in P12. Wow :embarrassed: Massa's flying also - did Ferrari up his engine too? I thought it was just Schumi...

Massa pits (24), Button pits (26), Alonso leads! Michael's cranking out really fast laps in the back, but still hasn't caught Montiero in 16th yet. ...Alonso pits next lap (27). Lots of people pit in the next few laps.

Lap 34: Timing freezes. Maybe something exciting happened? Nope, just a bunch of pitting. Schumi's up to 10th. DLR finally pits (1-stopper?). Sounds like good battle between Alonso/Kimi/Button? They're within 1 sec of each.

Lap 38: Schumi up to P8, sets fastest lap, another 1:28:xxx. Might have to pit soon though, but that's just a guess.

And now I have to leave, so summary time:
Massa leads by 25s, great chance to win at home. Alonso in 2nd, will have to try really hard to lose this one...Button 3rd, then Kimi, Fisi, Barichello (good race for Honda), Schumi's in 7th. Sato's in the top 10 (10th, of course)! 41 laps done, we'll see how this ends up when I get back...

The only bit of useful team work Fisi has done all year.... :dopey:

EDIT: Sato up to 12th!!

EDIT EDIT: Bridgestone say it was debris, not Fisi. Fisi still sucks then...

Been watching and saw the thread pop up!
Never watched the Brazillian GP before (don't watch all that much F1).
Sure is an awesome track, can't wait to see it on a game some time soon (download-able GTHD or GT5 maybe? ).

Looks like a great race though so you guys have fun here!

How about in Formula 1 for the PS3? It will be released in North America in 2007.

From what I watched, Fisi took out MS. But, oh well.

Awesome race.
Fisi is a douche.

Emotional win for Massa.
Classy act by Alonso when he thanked his team on the radio.

Michael Schumacher showed why he was the best.
Old School vs New School, it was awesome.

Thank you Michael.

Well done to Massa, deserved his win. In a way glad that Schumi didn't hit second otherwise Ferrari would've no doubt taken Massa's win away and told him to slow for Schumi. Would've loved to have seen Micheal up there though, think too many drivers gave him too much respect other then Fisi and Kimi which is a shame, I'm sure Micheal would've much rather fought for places and raced the way he loves.

B*stard for Webber though btw, he deserved *some* sort of result and so did Williams as a team.

And special well done to Sato, Super Aguri up to 10th and only a second and a half off the leaders pace, super stuff.

Farewell, Cosworth, Michellin and Schumi.

Congrats Massa and Alonso! Schumacher, you did a worty ending of a 16 year old career.

Now two days of celebrating!

Well done to MS and Alonso but also Button for his move up the field. If he and MS hadn't had the problems (quali for Button) then they would have been up there from the start. Excellent to see a Brazilian on the top step of the podium (fnarr) top work Felipe!

Sorry but I had too.

A good race with a good end. Would have liked to have seen MS get on FA's tail atleast once in the race, just to see if MS old tricks would prevail. Shame about the puncture though for MS, don't abit of the edge out of the race.

I am naming MS the overtaking KING. That was an awesome race. (Senna's song ringing in my head)
Why? Most of them were drag races down the straight. Yes he passed Raikkonen well, and pressured Fisi well, but most were quite simple.

Oh and I don't belive most the drivers gave MS an easy run, I just think it was the context of it all.

<_Spike_>

The commentator mentioned that, but surely that would have sucked big time and not have been the way MS would have wanted to win.

Wow, awesome drive by Sato. His best race by far in a mediocre season.

Schumacher drove pretty well, a few mistakes, but he was bloody fast.

Massa did well to keep a lid on his emotions in the car, and hold on for his 2nd career win. As he said, it was an easy race in terms of the driving, but I bet it would have been difficult to concentrate.

Button had a good drive to 3rd. Kimi was meh, but I was glad to see him race Schumacher – you wouldn’t expect less.

Honda and Super Aguri doing well… is that an aggressive engine this weekend, or just a coincidence?

Uh, what else…? Oh yes, congrats to Alonso and Renault – consistancy and reliability once again proves the better over outright pace.

Though, it has to be said, for two years running they’ve had the best car out of the box, but they’ve been beaten in the development race. Similar story in 2004, for the race for 2nd in the constructors.

That’s about it, now onto the winter testing. It’s a good time of year, but ever so frustrating because I can’t see the cars in action.

Very exciting race! Congratulations to Alonso and Renault on capturing their 2nd straight championship. They really do deserve it; that is to fight back after struggling there for a while, when seemingly Ferrari seemed to be unstoppable. Good job mates! 👍

Great drive by Felipe today! The Ferrari was blazingly fast and seemed to have no equal in terms of pace today. I have always been a little bit of a Massa fan; when he was at Sauber I always wanted to see him do well, if for no other reason to make one of the middle of the pack teams faster. I will be rooting for Massa to do well next year in the Ferrari and being that I am already a very big Kimi fan, you might as go ahead and brand me a tifosi, at least for now.

I was very disappointed to see Fisi just barely manage to touch Schumacher on the overtaking move. Schumi was very fast and would have had a chance to get to the front . . . even after that, he was very close to a podium. Very great job to pull off fast lap after fast lap after fast lap . . . great stuff! 👍 Even at the end, Schumacher was still the best driver on the grid and I have gained a whole lot of respect for the man. It used to be wanting to see anyone but him win; this year I found myself rooting for him to win the championship. It was an exciting year and there is going to be a big hole to fill next year without Schumi. Alonso, Kimi, or someone else is going to need to pick it up and take F1 into a new era. It is going to be a very odd thing to not see Schumacher on the grid, having not known the grid to be without him since I started watching F1 around 2000.

Here's to a great race! Renault and Alonso doing very well to close out the year and pull out both championships! Massa on his brilliant pace throughout the entire race! One of the greatest drivers the sport will ever know, Michael Schumacher! And to what looks to be a very exciting year coming up for the sport! Cheers!

Just heard that it is possible that MS is just taking a sabbatical year. I hope this is true, that he will be back.

Let the rumour mill begin!

I hope he doesn't. It would be a shame to see him come back and not be competing for the title.

he should stay off for good. but hey, he's german and doesn't listen to anyone else but michael schumacher, which just happens to be him.

I highly doubt it, it's just rumors from hopeful fans, let the guy enjoy the rest of his life in a normal way. He's done good for the sport (give or take a few incidents), he deserves a moderately peaceful life. Though it could also be misqoutings or confusion as it's Ross Brawn that's supposedly taking a sebatical year out.

A well-earned (and hard-earned) title for both Alonso and Renault! That's how Alonso wanted to win the title: beating Michael head-to-head.

Michael gets quite a nice present: he gets to keep the car. Ferrari usually don't let anyone get their hands on a car until it's completely obsolete. I wonder if he'll use it to wake up his neighbors around Lake Como ;).

I suppose it would make up for him not getting an Enzo ;)

It'll probably be kept at the Ferrari factory anyway, with an open invitation to come for a spin.

[EDIT] Wikipedia says he has an Enzo, but I heard he hadn't. :odd:
