I thought that baby was a Formula 1 racer! That thing is hot!! Gotta love those carbon fibre sidewalls!:sly:
There's an easy way to tell the difference between a Champ Car and F1 car.

Champ Cars have roll hoops above the cockpit. F1 cars have air boxes above the cockpit.

Oh boy, here comes another "more passing 👍 deal..." I get tired of reading this. You either best your opponents on the track any way you can, or stay away from that racing suit. Passing isn't a given. Earn it, or stay away from racing. I won't go much into that, so let me advance with this car.

As far as this car goes, it's pretty nice. Anything Champ Car can do to make racing better and have racing manufacturers provide quality race cars, they'll take it. Imagine seeing these things around Long Beach, Mid-Ohio, Laguna Seca, and a lot of other race courses. Should be great fun to see these things race.

According to Speedtv.com, that car will hit the track in july.

Nice looking although Champ car will never get anywhere close to F1.
I dunno, in 2008 it will get pretty close.

They’re only a few seconds slower now, anyway.

Actually it did come close to F1 in the early 1990s. The CART IndyCar World Series had a challenging combination of oval/street/road racing, multiple engine/chassis manufacturers, and a superstar driver lineup. When Nigel Mansell came to Champ Car in 1993, he brought Champ Car into the international spotlight.

Aryton Senna also could've come to Champ Car in 1993. McLaren hadn't signed Senna after the 1992 season, and Bernie Eccelstone was giving Senna crap about his super license. Senna was also getting disgusted with all of the electronic driver aids that took the skill out of driving F1 cars. So, he tested a Penske-Chevy Champ Car during the off-season. Senna enjoyed the test, and put up some impressive times. Roger Penske even offered Senna a race seat for the 1993 Champ Car season. Eccelstone eventually backed off, and McLaren signed Senna for the 1993 F1 season.

I wonder how things would've turned out if both Mansell and Senna (two of F1's biggest superstars at the time) had come to Champ Car in 1993...

As for the next 2 years... The FIA is trying to slow F1 cars down while Champ Car wants Panoz to build a lighter chassis. CCWS' Ford-Cosworth engines will also be getting a HP boost. It will definitely be close.

Imagining a then young Zanardi going up against Senna (who would've still been alive, I guess, if he did go to CART back then) and Mansell is enough to give me goosebumps.

I loved 90's CART. They had the most varied tracks, the fastest cars ever, and more overtaking than you can shake a stick at. :(

Whoa S***! feels like a new video game is coming out.

And the slicks? :dopey:

I hope the car will stay longer:irked: This looks like a joke....

I hate looking at A1GP here in Europe, I will be SOOOO FU**ING glad when F1 comes back again.
But I dont want the cars to change into those short carts:scared:

However, Indy is not a road course, and aspiring Indy car drivers aren't on road courses. A Toyota Atlantic advancement program will do absolutely nothing for kids like Moe Lilje out of the Midwest Supermodified Association or Cameron Dodson in the Auto Value Super Sprints series, or Lee Boss in USAC Silver Crown.

Cameron already has Evernham dollars behind him in his AVSS sprint. He's only a junior in high school and he'll be doing the ABC (ARCA, Busch Grand National, Cup) deal by next year.

This is a crying shame for a kid who can wheel a sprint car to an 11.7second lap at the Winchester 1/2mile.

Sorry to bring up an old post, but I love some of the stuff I find on the web. LK, where do you get your information? First, Winchester was a 13.539 lap. 11.7? Also, There is/ was no "Evernham dollars" with Dodson. The family has made alot of sacrifices to keep Cameron racing. I know of a few people on that team that would have like the money, but it was not there. He will be running some Hooters Pro Cup races this year to get him some more stock car experience. Funded by his family, I might add.

I apologize for some unintentional misinformation there, Duane, because I have a lot of affinity for the AVSS (absolutely love it when you guys run with ISMA at Toledo) and I got some wires crossed in searching for information.

I'll also admit that the Evernham remark was hearsay from some other journalists I'd heard. It was certainly believable (Mopar lettering on the car, easily the sort of driver Ray Evernham would want) but I will admit being wrong there.

However, I still feel that Cameron Dodson would be dynamite in an Indycar and that Indy is where his star should shine brightest at the apogee of his career. To see any open wheel midwest phenom end up in a taxicab is like a slap in the face to me.

I was out and I missed the live webcast. I checked their multimedia archive but it's not available yet. Is it worth downloading?

Oh and I give my 👍 to Champ Car for providing an alternative to Windows Media.

Looks fantastic. I was out at 10:30 local (when they debuted the car) so I was unable to see the web deal. However, now seeing those pics I am really impressed. Easily the best looking openwheeler out there IMO. Good to see they will use the paddle shifters. Hopefully ChampCar will garner some interest now that the new cars will be NEW CARS not 19 races new. Fingers crossed for a 26 car grid like CART.
