You are all talking about the budget difference and the technologies. Dont get me wrong, im a big fan of Formula 1 and i dont think champcars can even compare but technology and money does not mean the car is quicker depending on the track.

A caterham can probably beat a veyron depending on the track. Is it fair to say that caterhams are better cars than veyrons?

Perhaps in a bang for buck content.
They sure as hell don't push the £900,000 barrier...

Edit: But that's not for here, of course. :)

I don't think any caterham could beat a Veyron around a track. I'd like to see you back this up. Maybe a race modified Caterham, but that wouldnt be a fair comparison.

A donkervoort (still a lotus seven based car) can lap the 'ring faster than a veyron.

7:14 - Donkervoort D8 RS, 398 PS/760 kg, Michael Düchting (sport auto 11/05)
7:40 - Bugatti Veyron 16.4, 1001 PS/1980 kg (Wheels magazine Australia, 12/05)

You can argue that the veyron driver was not pushing it like Zonta in the toyota but thats my whole point. Money does not mean faster car given the situation

You need to remember that the Veyron had to stop for fuel during the lap.

But seriously, I knew Clarkson was talking out of his behind when he praised the Veyron to high heaven. Just by looking at that monstrosity you can see that it would fall apart in any corner that requires braking.

To m.piedgros: I posted the article on the F1 forum because I thought it was hilarious that Newman/Hass Racing (running on a few million dollars) was able to smoke the Toyota F1 team (running on $400 million).
