They came 4th. Yeah, it was a good season, but it should have vaulted them onto bigger and better things and they fumbled. With 4th as your high point you can’t say they’ve used their resources effectively.

Well, I can't disagree there. But what went wrong? Maybe a dumb question since you could ask Williams and Honda the same...

Williams lost their engine supplier and with them, a lot of money. Honda thought they were stealing the data for a 248 F1 and wound up with a 575GT instead, but still tried to use the weight distribution and aero design.

Hell no...keep him at the back of the grid and generally out of trouble... Sides...wouldn't anyone going to Honda as it is now be receiving a demotion, not a promotion?

With Ross Brawn?

I'm going to be an optimist now and say Honda well has chance to be back in the top 4 with the constructors for next year...

Somehow I doubt it. Toyota are pushing pretty hard for Glock, although the contract recognition board has slowed down proceedings there. Perhaps they’ll have to give up on the idea of Glock. Although I’m not sure why they’re so keen for him; Glock has been unimpressive in both F1 and Champ Car in the past, and I don’t think he has suddenly jumped up to the skill level of previous GP2 champions this year.

I think he was the best of a poor field, to be honest.

They're pushing for Glock because Cologne wants a German. They figure Sutil is locked up with Force India, but if he winds up floating on the market, I'd bet my favorite pair of socks that Toyota snatch him up.

But the 08 is already almost completed, so expect some work of Brawn in mid season.

So?

Honda was probably the first team this year to start working on the '08 challenger. I mean, halfway through the season they acknowledged the flop, and stopped handing out upgrades after Jerez, apart from minor ones obviously just tacked on.

Honda is a capable team - so even without Brawn, they'll manage to get something decent done. When you're the first to work on the next car, you're bound to get something out of it.

Shuhei Nakamoto.
And once again Blake hits the nail on the head. Honda's technicians openly said the man was out of his depth and that it was a mistake to dismiss the more-talented Geoff Willis. But Nakamoto keeps his job and Willis has been cut loose, even agasint Nick Fry's objections.

Honda need to learn that you can't run a Formula One team by committee.

Very optimistic...that's a big jump with only one man...I know he's Ross Brawn but still, it's a challenge even for him I'd say

Anything can happen, who could ever expect Hamilton to do so well in his rookie season? Who could ever expect Honda would suck so bad? Who could ever expect Super-Aguri to beat their mother team?

F1's a weird world, I'm willing to bet on anything...

Uhh… I’m almost certain he had never driven an F1 car prior to the 2006–2007 winter tests.

Oh well, can't trust Wikipedia, I guess. :indiff:

Wiki's 2006 China GP Page
Following Lewis Hamilton's GP2 victory in Monza and an encouraging test session with McLaren, the Woking based team were rumoured to give the young British driver his debut in favour of Pedro De La Rosa, who had been performing well after replacing Juan Pablo Montoya. However, McLaren announced that De La Rosa would be racing in China.

My mistake, he did two days at Silverstone in September. I knew he didn’t test until after the GP2 season and for some reason I thought he didn’t test until after the F1 season had ended. I remember the rumours for him getting the seat now, though.

Well, now that Williams have bid farewell to Timo Glock and said he's free to join Toyota, it seems he's front-runner for that second seat.
