An open top DP car? I sure didn't knowv those were being made

lol they werent i was being sarcastic about the whole situation. what happened was the top got ripped off (not sure how it happened i just remember the kid saying he was driving and boom off it went) and they had to come in to the garage to replace it. lucky for them another team running a lola had a spare roof they gave them.

Oh, lol. I didn't know the roof flew off. Must have been the Krohn Lola. Was it Colin Braun?

no it was the #13 beyer racing riley being driven by jordan taylor at the time. i give props to the kid im pretty sure if the roof of my car ripped off while driving at those speeds id have freaked out and probbalyed ended up putting the thing in the wall.

TS
Braun drove the 60 for Mike Shank @ the 24.

*facepalm* How did I forget that? Too bad it was one of the Ford powered entries, which except for the #10 Suntrust Dallara, All fizzled out

yea i dont know what seems to be the problem with all those ford DP's but they seemed to just all drop out 1 right after another once the sun went down. at least they have plenty of time to work out the kinks before the next race.

its another few months before another race what to do with all this time :indiff:

oh well guess all i can do is keep playing video games and look forward to sebring then st. pete.

According to the Speed broadcast, an sensor on the crankshaft was the problem with all the Ford engines that failed during the 24.

Amazing, that those 4 can run that close a race for 24 hours. Truly a great race.

Throw a yellow flag every hour or so and put everybody behind the pacecar so they can pit under the yellow. Not really that amazing. Did they ever even say during the announcing what that last yellow flag was for?

Oh wait, Daytona, France Family; must have been "debris" or the threat of a less than awesome finish.

Considering the last few times, the Ganassi car was usually the only car on the lead lap, I'd say its quite spectacular, especially the sole remaining Ford powered entry.

actually they went through a good portion of the night under green flag when 6 cars where still on the lead lap it wasnt until the morning that cautions where left and right. and most of the first day went under way with out a caution. i think all the flags where thrown in the second day of that race.

oh and i would tell you what the last yellow was for but i couldnt here the announcements in the infield at all. the the roar of the cars even during cautions drowned out the sound from the speakers.

Time to get excited again if you're a fan of this series. The Rolex Sportscar Series tour winds its way into Virginia Raceway today. Good luck to all DP and GT teams at this tough Virginia race track.

This just in...

The #99 Gainsco Pontiac won in Daytona Prototype, and the Stevenson #57 Pontiac [ugly-ass] GXP.R won in GT. Something Pontiac can gloat about. Great win for Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty for Dallas-based Gainsco Insurance Pontiac Crawford. The #57 of Robin Liddell and Paul Edwards got it done in GT.

Up next... a trip to Millville, New Jersey as New Jersey Motorsports Park will have its sophomore race on May 3rd.

The miserably rainy race at New Jersey Motorsports Park ended with Houston-based Krohn Racing winning in DP. First DP victory for Krohn Racing with that Lola. Good job to Ricardo Zonta and Nic Jonsson. So that's cool in the DP ranks. Back-to-back Texas-based teams win in Daytona Prototypes. The Gainsco boys from Dallas in the previous race, now Houston-based Krohn Racing wins. In GT, the #87 Farnbacher Loles team (who I'm a fan of on Facebook) won with Dirk Werner and Leh Keen bringing it home in GT.

Next race is at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on May 17th. That's a special day for me because that will be one year since I got my Associate in the Arts degree. I still want Suntrust Racing to win, since that's the team I usually respect the most in the series.

Well... since lots of people don't like Honda, I'm pretty sure most think Honda are going to be a failure. But as for me, I'm very interested. Variety is the spice of life, and you know you can't have real sportscar racing without a diverse lineup of racing machines and various powerplants. This seems very interesting to see Honda power in a Daytona Prototype. I might try and watch as much of that race as I can.

Gainsco... FOR THE WIN (FTW not in my vocabulary. I'm old anyways. Kids these days...) Anyhow, Gainsco got her done for the Daytona Prototype ranks. The GT winners were Speedsource. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca sees Mazda win in GT. Now imagine if Mazda had a DP entry and won in DP...

Believe it or not, this is the ONLY West Coast course on the schedule this year. The next race will be in early June for the Six Hours at Watkins Glen.

This weekend is the Sahlen's Six Hours at the Glen. According to their Facebook site, Farnbacher Loles will start 1-2 in the GT class. Any predictions on who'll win in DP and GT this weekend?

Scott Pruett has secured pole for DP. I honestly feel that Ganassi or Brumos will get it done Saturday. Ganassi is a proven team at the endurance races so six hours shouldn't be a problem and Brumos have proven themselves to be winners so they could also be the determining factor.

Here's a note I just picked up on while watching the race at Barber Motorsports Park: this is Lexus' final year in Grand-Am. So the Lexus-powered Daytona Prototypes will need some different powerplant. That is, unless Lexus decides to sign a new deal or something to stay in Grand-Am a bit longer.

Really? Interesting.

According to their Facebook page, Farnbacher Loles will add a third car to their stable as the Rolex Sportscar Series teams will race at Watkins Glen this Friday. They'll be racing at Watkins Glen on the same weekend NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup race this former home of the F1 U.S. Grand Prix. Farnbacher Loles currently lead the GT ranks of the Rolex Sportscar Series.

Thats to bad for Ambrose and Edwards. I feel bad for Edwards because I know he's upset and feels horrible. I would've liked to see how they would of done in the race. I think Ambrose would of done pretty good.

I did not get to see the race because I had to attend a birthday party. But man, tough break for the Ambrose/Edwards combination. Congratulations to whoever won in DP and GT.

That had to be the most confusing race ever. It sprinkled then stopped then sprinkled then stopped and finally, it just kept raining to the checkered flag in the final 10 minutes. I think Homestead is gonna be interesting with 5 championships (this one included) ending there.

Not sure if this is the thread to post this in, but word has it that the KONI Challenge Series will debut a returning old school car- the Sunoco Camaro! If it isn't blue with yellow accents, fail.

[UPDATE] The remaining two rounds of the Rolex Sportscar Series are at Miller Motorsports Park and Homestead-Miami Speedway. Good luck to all teams, especially the title contenders in both classes.
