Using the dodge ram stock, at the beginner hall, I managed 200 points at all 5 sunday cup races, all the 4wd races, and 2 of the truck races. I had to add a fully custom gearbox to be able to beat the chevvy at Laguna though.
If you use a fully tuned Dodge Ram, you can still get 200 A spec points. Must be a glitch or something, but the car doesn't have to be stock... not the Ram anyway

I'd already guessed that, having read about it on here, just thought I'd see if you could win stock with it.

Gran Turismo All Stars, Extreme Hall, with the GT-R Concept LM Race Car (that you win from the Dream Car Championship). I got 200 and 187 with it on a few tests, on R3's, with new oil (657HP) I can't remember the lineup but because A-Spec points are based on the entire field, you'll need a field full of LMPs and at least 1 Group C car to get 200.

I ran this test a few times on Fuji 80's and kept up with the XJR-9 on one race, was never more than 1 full second behind and made it up in the corners. Couldn't stay in front forever, but I'm sure the better drivers here could win a bunch of these races.

heres one for all you 200pt race junkies. try the gt500 race (all japan championship) and race it with a gt300 car - cusco, weds, asper drink etc., they gotta be stock though, but tyre choice is up to you. if anyone manages to win all ten races each worth 200pts, can they report back here. is this an impossible task?

I played around with the Apex.. it wasn't looking good. Of course, that was at Tokyo. I may try some of the other tracks and try some other gt300 cars. That, and some of the rally cars.

I've won it once with a Subaru TC and had a tough time (losing Seoul and Motegi in the process) but that was only 135p each so I'll be heading back in to that race searching for 200 very soon.

Restoring “Resetting” Permanent Modifications

Perhaps I was misunderstood. This is likely when joining a thread mid-topic. The procedure I considered for “restoring” weight reduction, port polish, and engine balance is based on reports that all upgrades and parts are removed from cars which are traded from another memory card. This has led me to believe that permanent modifications would also be reset to default. This is probably not relevant to the conversation. I was suggesting a procedure to quickly dirty the oil and intentionally damage an engine so additional points could be received for the race if a less competitive car could qualify. (If I only get 190 A-spec points with 200kg ballast and N1 tires and the worst possible car, what else can I do? Damage the engine.)

Right, my misunderstanding. However, although you could reverse permanent modifications, if you needed to... you'd still need to perform all the BSpec work to reduce the engine HP and dirty the oil correct?

Family Cups and Predetermined Base Levels

Finding a Base Level for each car would certainly lead to progress for A-spec and B-spec. Finding a method to quickly determine which cars are considered comparable might help people generalize tests performed on one car to others in the same general class.

True.

However, there is a limitation with that test because it doesn't provide a direct comarison but rather gives you a "sense" of which cars the computer feels are comparable yes? In addition, I'm not sure it can be proven that the cars the computer provides as competition in the Family Cups are stock.

I have a more direct method for comparing cars to others in the same class.

Take all the cars you wish to compare. Enter them into a race against the exact same lineup and note the ASpec points. NOTE: they must be stock so the test isn't skewed.

The points given indirectly reflect the base value the computer gives for each car.

Example (cut from the FAQ I'm working on):

From Dream Car Test:
VS --- RSC Rally Raid, Zonda LM, Suby TC, RX-8 LM, GT LM Spec II

171 Subaru TC
168 Calibra TC
165 Alfa Romeo
131 FTO TC
111 M3 GTR TC
108 NSX-R LM
86 GT40 Race Car (42 w/DF Max)
82 Calsonic Skyline
78 Mercedes CLK TC
56 Motul Pitwork Z
46 RX-8 LM
36 Lister Storm
18 Nissan 350Z LM
9 Camaro LM
8 Ford GT LM Spec II
6 Zonda LM

These values can be used later on. Because ASpec points are added/subtracted for a given lineup, If I take a stock CLK touring car into a race and I'm given 25 points for it, I know that if I took an M3 GTR touring car against the SAME lineup I'd be given 58p for it. From there I can note mod differences which are also added/subtracted. (NOTE: this needs further testing to determine how static the values are, but I'm farily positive it works).

Of course... there's the practical consideration for how many cars you can do this with before you're struck blind by boredom :banghead:

Family Cups as a Glitch Detector

I found it interesting that Team A-spec has identified the Dodge Ram as a “glitch” car.

This can be proven. Try the following tests against the same lineup at the Sunday Cup and note the HP/kg differences.

1) RAM vs. Volvo GLT vs. Ford Lightning
2) RAM vs. Land Rover Stormer
3) RAM vs any of the trucks where the RAM is modded to be lighter and have more HP than the other trucks being compared.

Orion_SR
This car tended to be much more powerful than the other cars entered in the same family cup (vs. VW Lupo 1.4, -4, from memory). This led me to suspect that other glitches or anomalies might be discovered by racing Family Cups and recording which cars tended to outclass the rest of the competition (any car that wins Nurburgring by a minute or so, they should be relatively equal). These cars may provide an easier win when entered in a 200 point A-spec race. I have suggested that the Toyota PRIUS G Touring Selection may be one of these cars, but it didn’t seem quite as “glitchy” as the Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie.

Yeah... that might just work! :D

I think, for this to work you'll have to hope that the Family cup cars are stock.

Testing and Theories

A word of caution; many of my ideas have turned out to be completely wrong, but they occasionally lead to new developments anyway.

Your ideas are much appreciated all the same.

I know you worked hard on the B-Spec theories 👍

Third times a charm :dopey:

Back to the topic... Was going through Japan Hall before I got sidetracked by the Rallies but I figured it's time to dump what I came up with.

New Entries:

Japan Championship - Stock Toyota RSC for 200p across the board
vs. NSX Type R (starting 5th), WRX STi '02, RX-7 Spirit R, Skyline Vspec 2, and Legacy B4 Blitzen.

Japan 70s - Honda Life Step Van @59hp (dt/su ups, NA3, nitrous@75, 5kg ballast + had to vary auto tranny between 8 and 12 depending on track) for 200p in all
vs. 280Z, Galant '70, Lancer 1600GSR, Civic 1500, Mirage 1400GLX

Japan 80s - Stock Toyota MR-2 G-Lim SC w/S1s for 200p in all but Apricot (dropped the S1s to get 193p)
vs. Silvia Ks, Sprinter Trueno, Honda City, Honda Civic, Skyline GTS-R

Japan 90s - Stock MR2 Spyder '99 managed 200p at Grand Valley, Motegi and SS5 vs. Infiniti G20, Integra Type R, Mazda 323F, Silvia Qs Aero and CR-X SiR '90

Japan 90s (pt 2) - Miata S-Special '95 (w/dt/su ups, chip and racing muffler) for 200p in all vs. the same lineup as before. (Note: The S-Special is the one. Handling is fantastic vs. the 1.8RS which was terrible :yuck: )

SPECIAL CONDITION:
Forget that cheatin' RAM :D

These are all 200p entries except for the spec C which I'll mention later.

EASY
- Honda Element (dt/su ups, NA1, racing muffler and sometimes the chip depending on the competition). vs. the Lancer Rally car at the Canyon and Whistler, the Lancia at Costa and George V and the Audi quattro for the rest.
Fully loaded vs. a Skyline VS 2 Nur at Tsukuba

NOTE: Must lose chip for ice races... snow tires drop points for some reason :boggled:

NORMAL - Honda Element fully loaded (dt/su ups, NA3, racing muffler and chip).
Capri, George V and Umbria Rev - + R3s vs. Lancer Evo 8 MR GSR
Umbria Fwd - + R3s vs. Impreza spec C
Canyon, Yosemite I & II and Alps F - Lancer 4 GSR
Tahiti - Lancer Evo 6 RS TME
Whistler - Lancer 2 GSR (had to drop muffler and chip!)
Chamonix - Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 (had to scale back to NA1, muffler and chip)
No, it's not good enough for Tsukuba but there are plenty of other cars for that.

HARD - The Element is no more... Long live the Element! :sly:
Umbria and George V - Lotus Elise 111R w/dt/su ups, NA1, sports muffler, chip and R3s vs. Renault 5 Maxi RC
Capri - 111R w/dt/su ups, chip and R3s vs. Impreza RC '03
Alps Fwd - RS200 stock vs. I*mpreza RC '03

And... that's that for 200p so far. I seem to be stuck (or just suck). The RS200 just doesn't seem like enough car for the rest. But, in the hands of a better driver...?

However,
Alps Rev and Yosemite I - 149p w/stock Impreza spec C vs. Impreza RC '03. You can easily add 200kg to make it 176p and it'll still win handily. Blew the computer out by 27s at the Alps Fwd while I was testing! But then I... uhh.. practiced that track quite a bit. Will see if I can get through the Canyon? And the ice races :banghead:

EDIT: Almost forgot
NA Sports - Stock Toyota RSC w/S1s for 200p at Infineon,Trial and SS5
vs. Nissan 350Z, Camaro SS, Callaway, M3 CSL and Vette Z06. The 350Z broke free too early at Apricot and Motegi for me to catch up :(

Technically, I went against a harder lineup at Trial with a Zonda in the Pole just because chasing down the Zonda was FUN!

The Weds Celica is the way forward, brilliant car. It doesn't get 200pts though, for that you need the Razo Silvia (Very Very Hard) or a Suzuki GSX/4 on R1 tyres(Not so hard).

And a double post from me (sorry). Lazy git that I am.
Mitsubishi 3000GT Vr-4 for all the hard races, mince about with the settings a bit (stick a turbo kit on - stage 1, 2 Way LSD) and the fat knacker will fly round. Best bit is it's nice and fat, makes a great roadblock when you get in front - they never get back round!

And the RAM's not cheating if it saves your TV from a brick - which is what was going to happen if I'd spent any longer looking for 200pts in the PD cup.

Damn, somehow I knew you were going to say that.

I did a little testing with it but wasn't doing so well. Just fiddled with it at Yosemite against an Impreza RC with an NA2, chip and muffler and... well, it's kind a close but... ummm... I still suck. Do you remember who you were racing against?

Just for fun... try the spec C and let me know what you think

Careful... I almost spit up on my screen  :P

Yes, I got it. For RAM... PD cup ok. Rally's bad yes? Just out curiosity, what was the closest you managed in the PD cup without it? 10p, 25p?

Just heard of another use for that RAM. Take it into 2-player mode against a Fiat 500. Drive the Fiat down the track, then get in the RAM and see how far you can punt the Fiat! :D

For some of the Hard asphalt rallies, try using the Suzuki GSX-R/4. Surprisingly quick and agile, and worth a good deal of points. I cant remember exact mods and setups, but i did get 200pts on Hard at the Paris rally.

Subaru's aren't pretty enough for me - but I've had a go in the spec-c and it's a very nice, thumped it round Grand Canyon Hard against the Evo Super Rally Car - didn't win though - I couldn't find anywhere to pass him and he kept braking so hard before corners that I'd slide into the back of him and get penalties. I Could've done it, but I'm not feeling very patient today. And my Black 3000GT is much prettier.

quality. hit your gearbox with a wrench before you start the race. :dopey:
Seriously for rally cars just tweak the Transmission auto set down a couple of notches - get in front off the line and its all cake.

jdw

The Spoon Fit racer was the best at about 150, but it can't keep up with the big boys (didn't do too bad, 5 secs down maybe on an M3) - maybe boost the HP and it could do about 50-100.

jdw

Dodge RAM - does exactly what it says on the tin. :dopey:

A short update on some of my ideas: The Prius G Touring Selection turned out to be an interesting car. It’s a gas/electric hybrid with a weird hud, and can’t use NOS. I still managed to win a 200 point Sunday Cup (2nd race, took shortcuts) with a little practice. It might be an interesting option to a Ram for these races, but doesn’t have the power or speed for anything else. Trading appears to reset the car to original condition. All parts, mileage, damage, everything gets reset to however it was purchased or won. Damaging the engine doesn’t really work anyway.

GSX-R/4 with S1 tires and stage 3 weight red. also gives 200 with this feild:
SUZUKI GSX-R/4 '01 S1 tires
HONDA NSX Type-S Zero '97
SUBARU Impreza Sedan WRX STi Ver.VI '99
NISSAN 300ZX 2-seater (Z32) '98
TOYOTA Supra RZ '97
MITSUBISHI 3000GT VR-4 (J)'98

Fairly easy to win without qualifying.

You must have had a weak lineup!

The Weds can and will get you 200p with R3 tires. You're right, of the JGTC 300 cars, it's the one to beat.

BUT... I just had to be different :dopey: so I have a new entry:

All Japan GT:
Toyota Altezza Touring Car w/R3s went 7/10 at 200p vs.
Takata Dome, Xanavi Hiroto, Castrol Supra, Penzoil Nismo and Arta NSX.

Funny thing about the Altezza. I never saw 5th gear even though I know it has one... yet it just didn't have much of a problem winning these races (the extra DF helps).

But then I had to dredge up the Wedsport for Motegi and Seoul against a slightly more difficult lineup which had the Motul buried in the pack.

That leaves Super Speedway - Had to use the Suzuki for that (FULLY upgraded including the wing and R3 tires). I don't even think qualifying would have won it with the other cars. They're just too slow. :ouch:

I used the Wedsport Celica in the JGTC with medium racing slicks and did quite well. With the Medium slicks the races were worth 186 or 189, I can't remember which. However, I did slap on the smaller turbo to take the win at the Test Track, I think. It's been a few weeks since I ran that race. It was a bugger though. The Celica is a handling king, I would pick up a few seconds in the technical areas of most tracks to loose most of them on the longer straights. But it is quite doable, and a load of fun.

Okay. I'm finished, I reckon that my total is the most points you can possibly get, I've been checking through for a day or two and really, there's nothing left I've missed.

My final Status screen is here........
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=1667074&postcount=91

and the total is in my sig.

Phew. The last few races where I went back and picked up a few were:-
Japanese 70's - heavily tweaked and NOS'ed (to my shame) Honda Life Step Van - 200pts
Japanese Compact and K-car cups - Honda Life Step Van - 200pts
Laguna Seca Enduro - Chevy Camaro IROC-Z - 200pts
1000 Miles - VW Karmann Ghia - 200pts (No Ginetta, Merc, Buick, Chevy, XR-7, Cobra)
Grand Valley Enduro - Weds Celica (R1) - 200pts
Suzuka 1000km - Weds Celica (R1) - 200pts
Fuji 100km - black R390 Gt1 (R1) - 200pts

And that's it. Done and dusted, if anyone beats me..............actually I don't think anyone can beat me, but I hope some of you guys are inspired and stupid enough to get close! good luck! 👍 :) :)

Actually no :) . It came up first time - I think it's something to do with the line-up responding to your cars PWR - the VW only has 44hp so it gets a lower power field. Fortunately it still gets 200pts!

I found that happens with the European Classic Car races... if you reset, you dont have any of those horrid competitors. When i tried it, I had an E-type on pole, and a Cobra next to me!! AAAAHH!!!

...so I ended up with 1pt with my 200bhp Alfa Guiletta. (spelling?)

Finally broken well into the 10,000pt mark at 33% ish... I need help with the Professional: Tuning Car Series... that MR2 just dissappears. Also the Citta d'Aria rally on Normal- my Ram can't accelerate quick enough to catch the Lancer/Starion... in fact, not even my Subaru Rally Prototype can!! This isn't a 200pts race but it's is/can be really a challange.
Honda Integra Type R 95' in the Japanese 90's cup. (between 100-130pts)
200hp and Sports Medium.

At Citta d'Aria and Costa D' whatever, I used a Lotus Elise 111r with much success. I can't remember if I had to tune for the normal tracks or not. I was pushing for high Aspecs so if I did it was minimal. I used the Elise on all of the road rallies and the easy and normal wet rallies.

Tuning Car? MR2?

Citta Normal? Couple things you can do...
1) Soup up that RAM. Supercharger etc. It's so bad on points that you can seriously overpower the comp and still get 200.
2) Similar to Mr. Parker, I used a slightly souped Elise 111R for Citta Hard. You might be able to strip it down an use it on Normal. (A nearly maxed out Honda Element won that race for me)
3) Make sure you have R3 tires!
4) Skip the Starion, you're better off against one of the Evos

thanks - ive tuned my RAM to the hilt, especially drivetrain etc., but it handles like a tub of lard (surprise) so I'll be trying the Elise. Any excuse to drive one is good :sly:

Tuning car - lol i got myself confused. Clubman Cup, Seoul - there is always the same line-up, which means an MR-2 GTS or something on pole... and I can't catch it without using my Amuse on R4 tyres!! any suggestions?

jdw
Tuning Car? MR2?

Indeed - the tuner cup has no MR2. If you do mean the tuning car cup in pro hall, I recommend the Amuse S2000 R1. You can tweak it a bit if you need to but it can win stock.

1) Soup up that RAM. Supercharger etc. It's so bad on points that you can seriously overpower the comp and still get 200.

Since when do you recommend the RAM? And a tuned one as well! lol!

Go with the Elise, or my personal fave, the Mitsu 3000GT VR-4 (preferably the one with the really, really stupid huge wing on it......the '98 model I think 👍 ...). Use R tyres if you must............. :sly:

By the way I find the best points for overtaking on C di A are the hairpins at the bottom of each hill - there's enough room to get by and if the bugger cuts into you as you pass you'll just block him and stay in front despite the penalty (which is pretty funny, slide by smoothly, AI cuts into your rear gives you a penalty and then can't get round....serves 'em right.)

Aaaaah.....Clubman. Get back in the RAM......lol. :yuck:

Try a used Supra (the 3.0 i think, one of the old shape late 80's ones) plenty of top end........

Good stuff - I found that worked with George V and the RAM (yea, I know...) - the roads are so narrow that once you overtake at the long hairpin, the AI can never get past. Btw is that supposed to be wet tarmac, because it didn't feel like it...?

I hope you read my previous post wrt the MR2.. its Clubman thats the issue. (The NSX is a similar problem, but the MR2 is always in front of that!)

Cheers for the help 👍
